If I setup my Facebook account with online-accounts, I see that it automatically integrates Shotwell, Empathy and Gwibber access. However, I only want Gwibber to have access to the facebook account, and not Empathy (or Shotwell), I am not currently able to deselect Empathy from the list of integrated applications. While this is a wishlist bug, I consider it an important one because having online accounts be 'all or nothing' will probably mean some people will choose 'nothing'. It is also a usability issue because Empathy also doesn't allow me to logout out of facebook so it shows that I am available for chat on Facebook during my work hours. It's reasonable that one might want to turn this behaviour off. While it is possible to uninstall the package, this isn't a particularly intuitive route for most. Other lenses have a 'Filter results' item, which would solve this if on the home screen. Otherwise, an option somewhere in the control centre (privacy?) would be good. What you should see: Just the label and menu, centered over or left -/right-aligned with the list below. For an individual account, the grey box serves to tie the account details to the on/off switch. But for the list of accounts, it serves no purpose. And it's not a good thing for this layout to be consistent with that one, because they serve quite different purposes. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1052375] Re: The online account g-c-c interface doesn't support i18n
** Description changed: The online accounts UI loads the plugins integration from some .application files. Those are not translated, not translatable. What needs to be done, is: - rename the .application in .application.in - ensuring that upstream have an application.in files with translatable tags (using _, as in <_description>I want to be translated). Example [1] - add a tag containing the upstream domain - then, at build time: 1. Running intltool-extract files.applications.in so that it gets merged into a files.applications.in.h file. If you are using intltool already in your build system (and you probably are), this should be happening already and you can skip to step 2. 2. Including the .in file somewhere in the build system (like po/POTFILES.in for Python apps and Makefiles.am for C/vala apps) so that it's merged into the .pot file. In Python, it's just a matter of adding it as an extra line to the po/POTFILES.in file (example [2]): - [gettext/xml]data/gwibber.application.in + [type: gettext/xml]data/gwibber.application.in 3. This presents some problems when complying with the terms of service of the online providers, as most require that it is clear that services are not misrepresented as being recommended by the provider in question, especially with the use of provider logos. To comply with the terms of service, it must be made clear what the scope of the application (Online Accounts) is and how the user's data is used. To fix this, in consultation with Canonical legal counsel and design, I have added a legal notice to the Mallard help of the Online Accounts control centre panel. The notice briefly explains what the Online Accounts technology does with the user's information and some other legal details. I have linked this help page to the panel UI with two new link buttons, one shown during authorization and the other shown during configuration, so that the user can access the legal notice from the UI at all times. The relevant UI changes are the addition of two user-visible strings (‘Learn more’ and ‘Legal notice’ for the link buttons), the change of an existing string (adds a full stop at the end of a sentence) and the addition of the legal notice as a Mallard page (a page of legal copy). The additions result in the UI of the panel changing to accommodate the new buttons, such that any existing screenshots would need to be retaken. I will attach screenshots to demonstrate the UI changes. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1056718] [NEW] [UIFe] Add legal notice buttons to UI
Public bug reported: The online accounts settings panel stores credentials and access tokens for online services locally, and shows service provider icons to associate a local account with a provider. This presents some problems when complying with the terms of service of the online providers, as most require that it is clear that services are not misrepresented as being recommended by the provider in question, especially with the use of provider logos. In Python, it's just a matter of adding it as an extra line to the po/POTFILES.in file (example [2]): [gettext/xml]data/gwibber.application.in 3. And running intltool-merge --no-translations -x -u foo.applications.in foo.application to create the xml upstream file which is shipped - online-account (the g-c-c plugin) should be patched to load them, looking at the tag and gettext (package, string) [1] http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~dpm/+junk/testintl/view/head:/data/gwibber.application.in [2] http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~dpm/+junk/testintl/view/head:/po/POTFILES.in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/1052375/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
