It was gdebi-gtk, but apparently they fixed the crash.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 73244] Re: Crash when closing firefox after "open with" and having still opened the file

2020-03-17 Thread Jan Niklas Hasse
Sorry, missed your last comment. Yes, I can still reproduce this using
Firefox 74.0 and Ubuntu 19.10.

> by reporter suggests fixed some time ago

Sorry my English wasn't clear on that one: I meant "should" in that it
ought to be fixed, not that it was fixed.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 410636] Re: Right-click should not pre-light first option, too easy to accidentally select the first Context-menu option.

2018-05-03 Thread Jan Niklas Hasse

Title:
Right-click should not pre-light first option, too easy to
accidentally select the first Context-menu option.

Status in GTK+:
  Expired
Status in gtk+2.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
When I right click in nautilus, the context menu appear. If I right
click on a menu item, the function of that menu item is performed.
This is very annoying, because when the context menu appears, the
mouse is at the first menu item, so if you accidentally right click
two times, you will surely perform the function of the first menu
item! Everytime I right click in desktop, i probably create a new
  Folder!

I think there maybe 2 solutions to this:
  - To perform the function of a menu item, only left click is allowed.
  - When the user right click, the context menu will appear at a bit lower
position, so the mouse will not be at the first menu item.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1716432] Re: With dash to dock enabled, title in window is not centred aligned to clock when the window is maximised

  Opinion

Bug description:
With the dash-to-dock extension enabled and intelli-hide not enabled,
the title of applications is not centre aligned with the gnome shell
  clock, as shown here [0].

  Possible solutions are
  1) When the window is maximised to align the title to the monitor centre not
window centre
  2) When dash-to-dock is enabled move the clock to be slightly off monitor
centre so it would line up with the window centre
  3) Ignore the alignment issue :-)

This is beyond me, so I would like some help.

Up until a software update within the last few months (maybe the
upgrade to Ubuntu 11.100, I can't remember), if I opened a PDF file in
Firefox, it would always ask, and the default aplication for that file
  type was Document Viewer.

  Now it defaults to 'gedit'.

I have tried (through 'Edit --> Preferences') setting my default
application for PDF files to 'Document Viewer', and then downloading a
PDF file to open it, but for some reason the dialog box then says
  'Open with...' and 'gedit'.

  I will attach screenshots of:

  1. Application Preferences; and
  2. Dialog box showing Open with... gedit (default).
