Okay, scratch that previous comment. Just updated and decided to test the bug again. Booted (with three applications set to run at startup) and, once it was started, ran NOTHING. I let the computer idle for 11 minutes. The screen did not cut off. I then tried to run totem. Compiz crashed as I tried to run it from dash. Once Compiz restarted, I ran totem and did nothing, letting the computer idle again. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 851520] Re: Screensaver activates at the wrong times in Oneiric
I can fill in the details: When I run the computer, if I leave it idle for ten minutes, the screen will cut off. My settings are all set for the screen to shut off at a half hour at the earliest. Conventionally, when the screen cuts off in the proper fashion (which I can check via setting the screen cut off for 1 minute) the screen fades to black. But when this ten-minute cutoff happens, the screen simply immediately switches off. I cannot attest to HOW it's happening. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 843031] [NEW] Various wireless issues
Public bug reported: I have Oneiric and Natty installed to my computer. In Natty and Maverick, i never had issues with wireless, even when I was using the prerelease versions (I suppose that's because they were more or less the same components between those two distros) But in my new Oneiric install I am getting many show stopping wireless issues. I'll detail them in the order I encountered them: First, when I'm at home, I typically use a Droid X mobile wifi hotspot functionality to connect to the internet. I have input the correct pass word and made sure all the settings are the same as in my Natty install, but all that happens is the indicator endlessly shows it's trying to connect and occasionally a pop up shows asking for the password. I still have yet to get it to connect to the phone's hotspot. Next, When I am connected to a regular router, sometimes, the connection will begin acting up and slow down to nothing with VERY occasional spikes of activity. Making it impossible to do anything online. The only thing I've found to fix it is plugging into an ethernet cable for some reason. When i first tried to fix the above, i toggle the hardware switch for my wifi and when I managed to get it back on, the NM-Applet would just say "Device Not Ready" (But if I toggle Airplane Mode in the System Settings network pane, it will connect in the slow manner described above. Finally, there was an instance where I simply couldn't connect to ANY password protected wireless at all (it would do what it does with the DroidX hotspot and endlessly try to connect. For reference, obtained my wireless/ethernet card data from "lspci": 02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
