[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1117637] Re: Brightness and Lock option in System Settings crashes because of glib's schema missing key
Hi, Here are the instructions to solve this: 1. Add the notifications key to your schema: sudo gedit /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.desktop.screensaver.gschema.xml And add a new key: key type=b name=show-notifications defaulttrue/default summarydummy summary/summary description/description /key 2. Save the file and recompile the schemas: sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ After that, everything should work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1117637 Title: Brightness and Lock option in System Settings crashes because of glib's schema missing key Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: When launching the gnome-control-center and selecting the Brightness and Lock option the application crashes with the following error: (gnome-control-center:9686): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.desktop.screensaver' does not contain a key named 'show-notifications' Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Apparently the issue is simply resolved (or worked around) by editing the glib schema file org.gnome.desktop.screensaver.gschema.xml, adding the missing key that it is complaining about and recompiling the glib schemas. This is a better patch, which fixes the driver_wext in wpasupplicant when using broadcom's wl driver and shouldn't have effect when using any other underlying wifi driver, this is adapted from here to the current version of wpasupplicant in ubuntu: http://lists.shmoo.com/pipermail/hostap/2011-March/022891.html With this patch, the time to wait after a suspend when using networkmanager is around 12 seconds, i think it's an acceptable alternative if the patch gets included in ubuntu's wpasupplicant package. ** Patch added: wpasupplicant_fix_wext_for_wl.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/994739/+attachment/3155845/+files/wpasupplicant_fix_wext_for_wl.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994739 Title: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “wpasupplicant” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My observation is that network-manager is taking longer to connect to my wireless access point than 11.10. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 994739] Re: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby
Finally found the root reason of the problem! :-) Both wl (broadcom proprietary driver) and brcmsmac (the open source driver) are installed, in 11.10 this wasn't a problem since the brcmsmac was not blacklisted, and even if the wl driver was loaded, it failed silently and brcmsmac was used instead. In 12.04, the wl driver has been updated to version 5.100.82.38+bdcom- 0ubuntu6.1 which includes the following fix: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/873117/comments/36 that basically blacklists the brcmsmac module, forcing the wl proprietary driver to be in use. When the wl driver is in use, resume takes 30 seconds to associate to the network, but when the brcmsmac driver is in use, it just takes 5 seconds. I just blacklisted the 'wl' module, and happily using the brcmsmac now in 12.04, without any issues. Problem solved! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994739 Title: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby Status in Linux WPA/WPA2/IEEE 802.1X Supplicant: New Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My observation is that network-manager is taking longer to connect to my wireless access point than 11.10. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 725746] Re: Missing language on LibreOffice -Catalan (Valencian)-
Hi Christopher, we're already in contact with some people at LibreOffice. The problem with the locale is that LibreOffice (so did OpenOffice.org) doesn't support the BCP-47 standard. This means that there is no way the can implement @ modifications (at this moment). It seems that this is somewhat tricky and no one is going to take care of it right now. I guess that once they implement it, Debian developers will add it to the translation package. I expected Ubuntu just to add this package even though the locale is wrong. The thing is that Ubuntu already implements the ca@valencia locale, but this doesn't include the LibreOffice ca-XV package (for reasons above). This means that the Catalan (Valencian) ubuntu isos that we're creating cannot install the ca-XV package directly, and we have to delete LibreOffice and install it again from the version from libreoffice.org (that means that then this package won't be upgraded). But things have to be done in the right way. I completely understand that. Thanks for your help and time!! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/725746 Title: Missing language on LibreOffice -Catalan (Valencian)- Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: Incomplete Status in Ubuntu Translations: Won't Fix Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in “libreoffice-l10n” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Binary package hint: libreoffice I'm the main responsible for the Catalan (Valencian) translation of the LibreOffice suite. The crash is produced when the gconf key /apps/banshee-1/interface/panes/albumartist/browser/top/position is set to 0. When this key is set to 0, banshee will not start anymore.
