[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1177773] [NEW] Nautilus 3.6 Copy To… error for remote targets
Public bug reported: In Nautilus 3.6, the extra pane has been removed. This has been filed as a bug separately (bug #1173648), but it appears the upstream developers are adamant about not reintroducing it, the pleas of users notwithstanding. So, I am trying to learn the new, intended workflow. That other bug links to an upstream discussion (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683048) where one comment reads: Folders open in other windows are added to the sidebar of the Move to/Copy to dialogs for quick access. From this I understand that the new, intended workflow is to open multiple windows and use the context menu Move To/Copy To dialogs. However, this does not work for remote (network) locations. To reproduce: - Open a Nautilus window - Connect to a server - Open a second Nautilus window - Select a local file - In the context menu, choose Copy To… - Observe that the remote directory which is open in the first Nautilus window is available in the dialog sidebar (attached screenshot) - Click on the remote directory in the dialog sidebar Expected: - The file can be copied to the remote location which is open in the other Nautilus window Observed: - An error dialog reading The folder contents cannot be displayed / Cannot change to folder because it is not local (second screenshot) - The file cannot be copied in this manner $ lsb_release -rd apt-cache policy nautilus Description:Ubuntu 13.04 Release:13.04 nautilus: Installed: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 Candidate: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 Version table: *** 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 0 500 http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2013-05-08 20:26:44.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113/+attachment/3669753/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-05-08%2020%3A26%3A44.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113 Title: Nautilus 3.6 Copy To… error for remote targets Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: In Nautilus 3.6, the extra pane has been removed. Steps to reproduce: 1. install evolution and make sure message previews are enabled 2. import the attached into a local folder 3. in the message list for this local folder, go back and forth between this email and another in the local folder 4. go to this email and use the scrollbar in the message preview window and scroll up and down several times. The most obvious manifestation seems to be faded bands along the charted lines, though there is also extra white around the chart area (rather than the grey of the window background). The chart labels also end up quite blurry and hard to read. Sometimes the pink line for memory usage seems to hover horizontally right in one of the faded areas, and becomes nearly invisible. Bizarrely, the problem is sometimes only present on one of my monitors. The screenshot I have attached was taken straddling the two monitors; the zone on the left appears normal, while the zone on the right is noticeably affected. Dragging the system monitor between the two monitors causes the issue to appear and disappear. However, other times there is no difference and the system monitor is affected equally no matter which monitor it is on. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 580602] Re: Text widget does not support standard commands
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 459851 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459851 This was actually reported earlier as bug #459851, which is incorrectly marked as fixed. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 459851 can't use CTRL + C for copy'n'paste -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580602 Title: Text widget does not support standard commands Status in Chat app, and Telepathy user interface: New Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: empathy Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, though the bug was also present, I think, in 9.10. When typing a message, the basic editing commands one expects a text entry box to have in the GTK+ environment do not work. For example, Ctrl+C for copy, Ctrl+Z for undo. There are a couple different (but frequent!) usage scenarios that this causes issues for me with: 1. My trackpad sometimes inadvertently selects all text. Then the next character I type erases everything in the text box, and I am unable to undo to get it back. 2. Sometimes, I need to send the exact same text to multiple persons. I'd prefer to do this with Ctrl+C to copy, change tabs, and then Ctrl+V to paste. But, I cannot, and I have to use the mouse to highlight and middle-click the selection into the next tab or window. The biggest problem is the first one; however, implementing all of the basic functionality that is reasonably expected of a text editing widget would be immensely helpful.
