[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1147049] Re: Status input unusable

2014-04-29 Thread Paul Kishimoto
I've switched to using Pidgin instead—in part because of this bug. I
don't know if it is still current. Please feel free to mark it Invalid.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1274613] [NEW] module-bluetooth-discover does not load on login

2014-01-30 Thread Paul Kishimoto
Public bug reported:

The following lines appear in /etc/pulse/default.pa, which I have not
modified:

.ifexists module-bluetooth-discover.so
load-module module-bluetooth-discover
.endif

Expected: module-bluetooth-discover is loaded on login, as configured.

Observed: pulseaudio's module-bluetooth-discover does not load on login.
My system does not detect and set up sinks when I connect to Bluetooth
devices (including an A2DP speaker and a headset).

If I issue, in a terminal window:

$ pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
24

…then the devices are detected and sinks set up correctly.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1177773] [NEW] Nautilus 3.6 Copy To… error for remote targets

2013-05-08 Thread Paul Kishimoto
Public bug reported:

In Nautilus 3.6, the extra pane has been removed. This has been filed
as a bug separately (bug #1173648), but it appears the upstream
developers are adamant about not reintroducing it, the pleas of users
notwithstanding. So, I am trying to learn the new, intended workflow.

That other bug links to an upstream discussion
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683048) where one comment
reads: Folders open in other windows are added to the sidebar of the
Move to/Copy to dialogs for quick access. From this I understand
that the new, intended workflow is to open multiple windows and use the
context menu Move To/Copy To dialogs.

However, this does not work for remote (network) locations.

To reproduce:
- Open a Nautilus window
- Connect to a server
- Open a second Nautilus window
- Select a local file
- In the context menu, choose Copy To…
- Observe that the remote directory which is open in the first Nautilus window
is available in the dialog sidebar (attached screenshot)
- Click on the remote directory in the dialog sidebar

Expected:
- The file can be copied to the remote location which is open in the other
Nautilus window

Observed:
- An error dialog reading The folder contents cannot be displayed / Cannot
change to folder because it is not local (second screenshot)
- The file cannot be copied in this manner

2013-03-13 Thread Paul Kishimoto
In the image (bug.png) — I used to be able to click where it says
Available and choose another status (Busy, Away, Offline, Invisible)
or a saved status, or enter a custom status message.

None of that works any more. When I click on Available, nothing
happens.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1053725] Re: Cannot connect to Facebook

2012-09-26 Thread Paul Kishimoto
After installing gnome-control-center-signon (which was not installed on
the upgrade to 12.10 beta), the symptoms have changed slightly, but I am
still unable to connect to a Facebook account. The single signon dialog
within g-c-c instead gives me the error message:

An error occurred while loading the authentication page.

Once or twice when I have tried to connect, I get a message from
Facebook (via a browser) stating:

An unauthorized device recently attempted to access your account, let us
know if it was you.

…this leads me to think the failure to connect may have to do with
Facebook's device notifications feature.

Unfortunately I have not got the time to investigate a repetition

handling of those resources by Evolution via UBUNTU 11.10 Kernel v3

  evolution

Status in The Evolution Mail Calendaring Tool:
  Invalid
Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Attached is an email I get from a cron job I run for updating my
debmirror. After upgrading to evolution 3.1 (currently still present
on 3.1.5-0ubuntu2), whenever I access this email (and the other daily
debmirror emails), either message preview stops working until I
  restart evolution or evolution crashes.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. install evolution and make sure message previews are enabled
  2. import the attached into a local folder
  3. in the message list for this local folder, go back and forth between this
email and another in the local folder
  4. go to this email and use the scrollbar in the message preview window and
scroll up and down several times. This may cause evolution to crash.

The problem seems exacerbated when accessing the email over imap for
some reason. This does not happen every time, but is pretty easy to
reproduce nonetheless (eg, do the above steps a few times).

Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Ubuntu 11.10, Evolution 3.2, with view preview vertical view and show
  message preview enabled. Using IMAP.

When previewing a mail (usually a big text-only mail, ie. 132337 bytes), the
preview pane may get locked (blocked? scroll works, but the pane doesn't
redraw
properly; check attachment screenshot) and then it doesn't matter if I select
a
different email in the message list because the preview crashed.

It only seems to get fixed restarting Evolution (disabling and enabling back
show message preview doesn't fix the problem).

  Nothing in ~/.xsession-errors.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but this bug is really annoying because it
forces me to restart Evolution 3-4 times every day.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 900541] [NEW] Using filter with collapsed keyrings leads to crash

2011-12-05 Thread Paul Kishimoto
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1. Open Seahorse. The login keyring is visible, collapsed.
2. Type some text in the Filter: text entry; press Enter.
3. Click the expander next to the login keyring.

Observed:
- Several dozen copies of the login keyring and of each match for the filter
text appear.
- Hundreds of copies of the following appear on the terminal:

(seahorse:32053): Gtk-CRITICAL **:
gtk_tree_model_sort_convert_iter_to_child_iter: assertion `valid == TRUE' failed
(seahorse:32053): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_model_filter_get_value: assertion

`G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed
(seahorse:32053): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_unset: assertion
`G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed

- Clicking on any one of these causes Seahorse to crash with a
segmentation fault.

Expected:
- The login keyring expands, with only one row per match for the filter text.

Additional information:
- When Seahorse is started, the following appears on the terminal:

(seahorse:480): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: Property 'icon' on class
'SeahorsePkcs11Certificate' has type 'gchararray' which is different
from the type 'GIcon', of the property on interface
'GcrCertificateIface'

- The icon in the Filter: text entry is the gtk-missing-image stock
icon.

Title:
Using filter with collapsed keyrings leads to crash

Status in “seahorse” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  To reproduce:
  1. Open Seahorse. The login keyring is visible, collapsed.
  2. Type some text in the Filter: text entry; press Enter.
  3. Click the expander next to the login keyring.

  Observed:
  - Several dozen copies of the login keyring and of each match for the
filter text appear.
  - Hundreds of copies of the following appear on the terminal:

  (seahorse:32053): Gtk-CRITICAL **:
gtk_tree_model_sort_convert_iter_to_child_iter: assertion `valid == TRUE' failed
  (seahorse:32053): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_model_filter_get_value: assertion
`GTK_TREE_MODEL_FILTER (model)-priv-stamp == iter-stamp' failed
  (seahorse:32053): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set_property: assertion
`G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed
  (seahorse:32053): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_unset: assertion
`G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed

  - Clicking on any one of these causes Seahorse to crash with a
  segmentation fault.

  Expected:
  - The login keyring expands, with only one row per match for the filter
text.

  Additional information:
  - When Seahorse is started, the following appears on the terminal:

  (seahorse:480): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: Property 'icon' on class
'SeahorsePkcs11Certificate' has type 'gchararray' which is different
from the type 'GIcon', of the property on interface
  'GcrCertificateIface'

  - The icon in the Filter: text entry is the gtk-missing-image stock
  icon.

Title:
Graphical errors on charts in resources tab (faded bands)

Status in “gnome-system-monitor” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On my system, the charts on the system monitor resources tab are
  displayed with some graphical errors.

The most obvious manifestation seems to be faded bands along the
charted lines, though there is also extra white around the chart area
(rather than the grey of the window background). The chart labels also
end up quite blurry and hard to read. Sometimes the pink line for
memory usage seems to hover horizontally right in one of the faded
  areas, and becomes nearly invisible.

Bizarrely, the problem is sometimes only present on one of my
monitors. The screenshot I have attached was taken straddling the two
monitors; the zone on the left appears normal, while the zone on the
right is noticeably affected. Dragging the system monitor between the
two monitors causes the issue to appear and disappear. However, other
times there is no difference and the system monitor is affected
equally no matter which monitor it is on.

  Ubuntu release: Oneiric 11.10, x86_64
  gnome-system-monitor: 3.2.0-0ubuntu1

Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, though the bug was also present, I think, in
  9.10.

When typing a message, the basic editing commands one expects a text
entry box to have in the GTK+ environment do not work. For example,
Ctrl+C for copy, Ctrl+Z for undo.

There are a couple different (but frequent!) usage scenarios that this
  causes issues for me with:

  1. My trackpad sometimes inadvertently selects all text. Then the
next character I type erases everything in the text box, and I am
unable to undo to get it back.

  2. Sometimes, I need to send the exact same text to multiple persons.
I'd prefer to do this with Ctrl+C to copy, change tabs, and then
Ctrl+V to paste. But, I cannot, and I have to use the mouse to
highlight and middle-click the selection into the next tab or window.

The biggest problem is the first one; however, implementing all of the
basic functionality that is reasonably expected of a text editing
  widget would be immensely helpful.
