I just tested linux mint 17.1 and the same problem continues - it is not possible to use both saa7134 and webcam. Just wanted to add that webcam microphone works, but skype cannot detect it as a video device. As a work-around, I can click on System Settings and then click on Displays, and the screen immediate flickers and then resets back to 1920 x 1080, without the need for me to do anything else. This is most annoying, and it was not seen in previous versions of Ubuntu. All I would like is the ability to lock the screen resolution so it doesn't change on me automatically when I am using my KVM and am 'away' for extended periods. Hello, Yes it is better than unplugging the device. I just found out the problem has bigger scale. It affects other programs too. In Skype only available video deivce is TV-card. Webcam testing program Cheese does not start: $ cheese libv4l2: error getting pixformat: Inappropriate ioctl for device Problems started after clean install of Ubuntu 13.10. Before I was using upgrade from 13.04. My TV-card is ASUS My Cinema P-7131 Hybrid.
