2015-01-16 Thread Per Vapp
I just tested linux mint 17.1 and the same problem continues - it is not
possible to use both saa7134 and webcam. Both work if only one of them
is connected to pc. gnome-control-center is not installed.

Just wanted to add that webcam microphone works, but skype cannot detect
it as a video device. Also VLC cannot show its video so it is not skype
problem either.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1265065] Re: Desktop freeze while drag-maximizing window

2014-01-15 Thread Per Vapp
I am afraid I cannot install testing version of Ubuntu to my main
system, since some other programs might not work with it and I should
use it intensively quite long (over a week). If you are sure the cause
of the problem is xorg and Ubuntu 14.04 will use Mir, probably it is not
wise to waste time to fixing such a rare bug on xorg.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1095419] Re: When using KVM switch, display reverts to low resolution

2014-01-09 Thread Per Vapp
I tested it. I used the same KVM, but different computer and with 14.04
daily build (without upgrades) there was not problem although the
problem has been arounf for last few Ubuntu releases.

Title:
When using KVM switch, display reverts to low resolution

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I have my screen resolution set to 1920 x 1080 (16:9), and I use
my KVM switch to change to my laptop, if I am 'away' for more than
about 10 minutes, when I click back to my Ubuntu workstation, the
display is set to some very low, barely recognizable, resolution. As
a work-around, I can click on System Settings and then click on
Displays, and the screen immediate flickers and then resets back to
1920 x 1080, without the need for me to do anything else. This is
most annoying, and it was not seen in previous versions of Ubuntu.

All I would like is the ability to lock the screen resolution so it
doesn't change on me automatically when I am using my KVM and am
  'away' for extended periods.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1242367] Re: gnome-control-center user-accounts don't load, only hangs

2013-12-01 Thread Per Vapp
Hello,

Yes it is better than unplugging the device. I just found out the problem has
bigger scale. It affects other programs too. In Skype only available video
deivce is TV-card. Webcam testing program Cheese does not start:
$ cheese
libv4l2: error getting pixformat: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Problems started after clean install of Ubuntu 13.10. Before I was using
upgrade from 13.04.

My TV-card is ASUS My Cinema P-7131 Hybrid. And yes, it uses SAA7134
modules.
