Title:
  23.04 org.gnome.Shell wayland.service dumped randomly

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hello,

I would like to report an issue with "org.gnome.Shell wayland.service".
The process seem to randomly crash with a code dumped, leading to getting
disconnected from the session.

  org.gnome.Shell[at]wayland.service: Main process exited, code=dumped,
  status=11/SEGV

I found a similar report on AskUbuntu
  (https://askubuntu.com/questions/1465560/lunar-lobster-wayland-
  crashes) without answer yet.

  I'm running Ubuntu 23.04 on a Razer Blade 15 2019 (i7, RTX 2070). This
issue appeared after upgrade to 23.04.

I identified a few cases where the bug occurs, 100% chance when
dragging a tab in Firefox over the taskbar. Sometimes when dragging an
icon on the desktop. Sometimes when the screen dim to lock the laptop.

I am not sure where to find the core dump or crash report. (Apport
never showed up) I will gladly help gather more information !

  Thanks

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1971473] Re: Untranslated desktop file

2022-09-07 Thread Quentin PAGÈS
Hello Gunnar!
This week I saw an update with a link pointing at my issue in Launchpad :)
Now MATE properly shows "Printers" in Occitan, and lots of other languages I
imagine.
i18n is getting better!
Many thanks.
Also, the issue on flatpak not showing "Credits" and "About" localized, is
being searched by others:
https://discourse.gnome.org/t/how-to-translate-strings-used-in-default-gtkaboutdialog/10927
I hope great hopes they will fix this and again, Occitan and all the other
languages will be better represented :D

Talk soon.

Quentin

@Chris: I think you understood it perfectly well. The block-proposed-
jammy tag sounds fine to me.

To prepare for a possible migration to -updates later, I followed the
steps in the test plan and verified the upload.

  Untranslated desktop file

Status in system-config-printer source package in Jammy:

Bug description:
  [Impact]

While the Ubuntu changes include translatable strings, the .pot file
does not get refreshed when building, but upstream's .pot already in
the po/ directory gets imported to LP. As a result, some strings such
as "Printers" in the .desktop file show up untranslated.

There is a temorary workaround in place, but this proposal makes sure
that the fix won't be overwritten by the upstream .pot in case of some
  additional package upload to jammy-proposed/jammy-updates.

  [Test Plan]

It may be advisable to install system-config-printer{,-common} from
jammy-proposed and confirm that the updated packages work as usual.

But this is all about language packs in future point releases, and to
confirm the intention with this upload, please take these steps:

  * Check out the translation import queue:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jammy/+source/system-config-printer/+imports

and confirm that the new po/system-config-printer.pot file was imported
successfully.

  * Visit this page:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jammy/+source/system-config-printer/+pots/system-config-printer/oc/569

and confirm that it still leads to the "Printers" page with an Occitan
translation.

  [Where problems could occur]

The buildlogs include some warnings related to the creation of the
.pot file. But we don't really know if upstream does it better, and I
have not identified any significant resulting issue.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1982867] [NEW] Missing translations for About window

2022-07-26 Thread Quentin PAGÈS
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I use Amberol, the music player via flatpak.
Either on 20.04 or 22.04 I get the About window with words in French whereas my
system is set to Occitan, then French, then English.
"Credits" and "About" are not part of Amberol itself.
Things I found were translated into Occitan.
Maybe some template to refresh?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1945513] [NEW] Error when changing regional format

2021-09-29 Thread Quentin PAGÈS
Public bug reported:

Using the daily iso, but the same with focal, groovy, hirsute.

When I choose a new locale, Occitan, it gets installed and everything.
But when I click the Regional formats tab to choose Occitan from France, the

Here with Ubuntu Mate, but the same everywhere else it's the same.
I have to restart, maybe log out and in again would be enough, to have the
correct display.

  Error when changing regional format

Status in language-selector package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Using the daily iso, but the same with focal, groovy, hirsute.

When I choose a new locale, Occitan, it gets installed and everything.
But when I click the Regional formats tab to choose Occitan from France, the
overview is buggy.
Here with Ubuntu Mate, but the same everywhere else it's the same.
I have to restart, maybe log out and in again would be enough, to have the
correct display.

Hello,
there is "Keyboard" on the side panel and then on the main content:
Keyboard as a title for the section, then "Switch input sources individually
for each window"
"Keyboard Shortcut" "This can be changed in Customize Shortcuts" "Type Special
Characters", "Alternate Characters Key" "Hold down and tape to enter different
characters" "Layout default" (twice) and finally "Customize Shortcuts".
I hope it helps

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1852870] [NEW] core dumps when installing mono-devel in ppc64le/ubuntu:18.04

2019-11-16 Thread Nicholas Quentin Haas
Public bug reported:

When installing 'mono-devel' from the default repositories of

errors in the terminal's output. These core dumps do not occur in the

functioning despite evidence something went wrong during package

  Hi,

We just found a vulnerability in lightdm who could lead us to read files with
lightdm permissions, an also write in some directories.
We were able to download a reverse_shell payload and execute it in order to
gain a reverse shell as lightdm on a remote system.

The exploitation require a physical access to the locked computeur and
the Wi-fi must be turned on. A access point who let you use a
certificate to log-in is required as well but it's easy to create one.

Then, it's possible to open a nautilus window and browse directories.
We also can open some application such as Firefox which is useful to
  download malicious binaries :-)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2017-02-27 Thread Quentin Dufour
Just to mention that I encountered the same problem on Ubuntu 16.04 with

owned by root. I've updated it as described in #170. I hope it will fix
the problem.

  Regression potential:
The numlock state could be wrongly set, restored on login in some cases

  Original message:
  -

I don't know how to reproduce this bug, but after varying amounts of
normal usage of my laptop, I notice gnome-settings-daemon is consuming
  100% (approx) CPU.

I am not sure how to restart gnome-settings-daemon, I tried opening a
terminal and running gnome-settings-daemon again but this crashes my
system - my external monitor switches off and my laptop locks up. I am
  able to reboot with SysRq+REISUB.

Sorry I cannot provide more information - it happens twice now, maybe
someone can tell me how to get more information for the next time this
  happens.

Title:
network-manager does not connect to wifi

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When trying to connect to wifi network, network-manager remains
blocked in waiting for authentification state then fails after cca
1min. This started to happen after I updated to kubuntu 16.10.

Stopping network manager from service and trying to manually connect
  with wpa_supplicant works fine.

The only way to fix this for me was to stop network manager and/or
networking and restart the services sometimes more than once.

The issue was already submitted in #1633845

Maybe we should merge the two issues to give it more visibility ?

  Problem Description:
I have noticed the problem on both wired and wireless. Ever since upgrading
to 16.10(from 16.04), the system loses internet after waking from suspend.
Internet works fine after a reboot or when powering on normally.

"service network-manager restart" fixes the problem.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1633845] Re: network-manager does not connect to wifi

2016-10-21 Thread Quentin
Same issue on ubuntu-gnome 16.10 after resuming from sleep.

Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM43602 802.11ac Wireless LAN SoC (rev 01)
Hardware: Dell XPS 9550

It is required to restart the network manager.

There was the same issue in Ubuntu 16.04 6/7 months ago and it was fixed
in an update.

I do not quite understand how to setup the tsocks or iptables to solve

Cando Touchscreen buggy since Precise - After the first few
successful clicks on the touchscreen, new clicks are not
  registered anymore.

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-evdev” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In the beta-1 of Precise, the Cando touchscreen of my Acer 1825PTZ does not
work anymore. After the first few successful clicks on the touchscreen, new
clicks are not registered anymore. I can still move the cursor via the
touchscreen, however.
When I switch over to the mouse in this state, it also stops registering
clicks after a few of them. The mouse can still move the cursor, just as the
touchscreen. Sometimes, the pointer will jump to an entirely different
position, when I click a button on the mouse while the touchscreen is bugged
out. If I do not use the touchscreen at all, and only the mouse, this behaviour
does not seem to trigger.
My touchscreen worked fine with Oneiric, so this a regression.

I also have this bug on my gigabyte t1005 cando touchscreen. A
workaround for me is replacing unity with avant-window-navigator.
