Nvidia user here, nope, it happens also with Xorg. And like in #8 I also see/don't see them randomly. Ok, I found the source of the problem: I use a post-installation script for Ubuntu that installs several packages. This script installed "unity-tweak-tool" and "indicator- multiload" that have as dependency several Unity and indicators packages. Someone managed to make the internal subwoofer work with the VIA VT1802? I tried with “options snd-hda-intel model=auto” in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa- base.conf and “default-sample-channels = 6” in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf but nothing has change: alsamixer only sees two channels.
