From testing in trunk, you cannot select the Bold style for the

though and manually type Bold into the Style widget on the Text Tool
Controls Bar it will show correctly in the TF preview widget but not on

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 167262] Re: In the Text and Font dialog, Ctrl+Z (Undo) destroys text

2014-08-19 Thread ScislaC
It's actually even a little more broken than that... if you type text
directly on canvas and then go and type more text in the text field in
the TF dialog, if you don't hit apply and hit undo it will delete the
new text in the dialog plus the last letter typed on canvas. So it kind
of does a double undo in that it does it in both places
simultaneously, or at least that is how it appears.

Status in “inkscape” package in Debian:

Bug description:
  Problem:

When typing text directly into the Text and Font
dialog (Shift+Ctrl+T, Text tab), pressing the Ctrl+Z
key or Edit menu Undo, removes the text, with no
possiblity of recovery. The Redo action (Shift+Ctrl+Z)
does not recover the text. Even if Redo did recover
the text, it would be easy to lose the text if more
text were typed after the undo.

  Workaround:

Enter text into a separate text editing application,
then copy and paste the text in. This avoids
  accidental loss of text.

  Proposed Solutions:

Disable Undo while the Text and Font dialog (Text tab
) text entry dialog, has keyboard focus. Or, if Undo
is pressed, alert the user of the loss of data with a
  Yes/No dialog.

I was able to reproduce just now as well. Given the lack of emergency

should have saved in svg first, but it's data loss in the end.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 170049] Re: Inverted ruler co-ordinate system

2014-03-09 Thread ScislaC
Jayson: Thank you for adding absolutely nothing of value here other than
whining that a free piece of software isn't the most perfect tool for
you personally. It HAS been discussed about why various attempts to fix
this over the years have been shot down... basically we need to maintain
compatibility with documents created in the past and fix it properly
once and for all. Various features in the software currently expect the
coordinates to exist as they do now and it's not a quick fix. If it was,
it would have been fixed.

I'm sorry you feel somehow personally slighted for something nobody has
asked you to pay for or to use. We're currently working with our legal
counsel on the framework to allow payed projects under the umbrella of
our organization and I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to take
this on once that is in place. Either way, almost everyone who works on
this project is volunteering. Anyone being payed is being done so by a
third party and the terms of their arrangement (including what they are
working on) is not something we have control over.

Martin,

I can still confirm with 12504, it is not fixed. If you by chance had
opened the file in Firefox and saved it, Firefox stripped the relevant
line from the file (that's how they get around the XXE vuln). If using
Firefox, if you just Right-clickSave Link As, it will leave the line
intact as FF doesn't parse it. Changed back to confirmed as suv also can
reproduce it.

bug it may be a cool feature if one builds an
application that frequently updates the SVG file and
the changes are being viewed on screen with Inkscape.
  So we have two scenarios:

  Feature:
The Revert command in the File menu is changed into a
dialogue box where the user can specify how often
Inkscape should reload the file, thus refreshing the
screen with the new updates. Something like:
[checkbox] Revert every [data field] seconds

  Bug:
Tune Inkscape so that it complaints if it realises that
the SVG file has been changed externally. Provide an
option to deactivate this behavior by activating the
  feature presented above.

  Thanks!

  Vangelis

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1152629] Re: Logged out by creating and modifying a circle

2013-03-08 Thread ScislaC
@Dorian: Actually right-resizing with them is really easy. They're
designed so you can grab them to resize the right side of the window...
don't worry about grabbing the window itself, grab the overlay scrollbar
and drag it right/left.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 998276] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not appearing in the main menu under Unity

2013-01-21 Thread ScislaC
Same behavior observed as reported by ~suv on Ubuntu 12.10 with r12050 +
the above patch. Another observation, with numlock on, just pressing 5
on the numpad alone will trigger Grayscale mode (no need to hold Ctrl).

Seems to work fine under Windows, OSX and Debain/Gnome.
Other applications under Unity are also not affected.

Alex, Jon indicated both to myself and Ted that he is planning on it. As

Bug description:
Many packages in Ubuntu use the liblcms1 library (source package
lcms). This library is discontinued upstream and replaced by liblcms2.
Due to this bugs in liblcms1 are not fixed any more upstream and
important improvements in color reproduction and safety against
crashes are not done. Therefore we should remove lcms1 and migrate all
  programs using it to lcms2.
