Bug description:
I am using Ubuntu 13.04, and, each time I compress some files and
create an archive, an annoying dialog shows up: X has been
successfully created with buttons Open archive and Close.

So, each time I create an archive, I have one extra click to do. If I
remember well, this didn't happen with older versions.

I think it is really annoying, because in the 99% of the times you
compress some files, the last thing you want to do is open the new
archive. And if you want to do so, you just have to double-click the
new file, because you will have it just in front of you.

Instead of this dialog, it should just show up a notification, so the
user knows that the compression has finished (I think this was the way
  it worked before).

(P.S.: I have Ubuntu with Basque interface, so the message in the
dialog may not be exact, but I hope you will understand which dialog I
  am refering to)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1160979] [NEW] Keyboard Layout : the '+' icon is not always available

2013-03-27 Thread Thibault D
Public bug reported:

This happens with a 13.04 daily build on a live USB key.

1. Open Keyboard Layout (gnome-control-center Keyboard Layout Settings).
2. Notice that the '+' icon at the bottom-left is not available (greyed).
3. Click multiple times on the 'English' entries (US, Cameroon, UK, Ghana): the
'+' icon remains unavailable.
4. Remove one of the layout entries with the '-' icon: here you go, the '+'
icon is available and you can add your favorite keyboard.

What happens: the '+' icon is sometimes available
What should happen: the '+' icon is always available

2013-03-25 Thread Thibault D
Well, I just tested the last daily build on a live USB key. English language,
nothing special.
Launched the USC, installed Gimp, tryied to start it, and I got the two error
messages as stated above.
I'll try it again in a few days with a new daily build.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1156815] Re: Libbreoffice crashes with annotation

2013-03-21 Thread Thibault D
Hi, I manage to read this file with a 13.04 daily build on a live USB
key.

It seems that the file contains the following information :
62*24*(101+15+26+7)*22 = 48,77664 euro
and the annotation : dqsf / Mattias Campe 03/18/2013 21:15

It is the following version of Libre Office : Version 4.0.1.2 (Build ID:
400m0(Build:2))

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1029746] Re: Creating a new hidden folder / document causes the displayed name to revert to Untitled Folder / Untitled Document

2013-03-18 Thread Thibault D
As per Bug #1156023, this bug is confirmed :

- Creating a new hidden folder causes the displayed name to revert to Untitled
Folder

Bug description:
This isn't a critical bug at all, but it is a small GUI problem that I
  thought would be worth mentioning.

When you create a hidden dot folder, say `.ssh` using the Nautilus
GUI, the folder's name appears to revert to Untitled Folder (the
default folder name). However, if you deselect the new folder, the
Untitled Folder graphic will disappear. Pressing Ctrl+H to show
hidden folders shows that the dot folder has been created
  successfully.

This bug does not affect functionality in any significant way.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1153331] [NEW] too many languages installed by default ?

2013-03-10 Thread Thibault D
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm testing a French daily build of Ubuntu 13.04.

Just after hitting Test Ubuntu, I opened gnome-language-selector.
It told me that the languages were not completely installed and I answered to
remind it me later.

Strangely, in the list of the Language of the windows and menus, French does
not appear at all, but instead I get a bunch of languages (excepted English)
that I'm not using :
- English,
- Deutsch (Deutschalnd)
- English (Australia)
- English (Canada)
- English (United Kingdom)
- English (New Zealand)
- English (United States)
- Espanol
- Portugûes (Brasil)
- Portugûes (Portugal)
and probably Chinese (I cannot reproduce the signs bu you can check the
screenshot)

This might be considered as normal as the languages are not completely
installed (as the message said), but still remains very strange for a
basic end user testing Ubuntu...

Title:
too many languages installed by default ?

Status in “language-selector” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

I'm testing a French daily build of Ubuntu 13.04.

Just after hitting Test Ubuntu, I opened gnome-language-selector.
It told me that the languages were not completely installed and I answered to
remind it me later.

Strangely, in the list of the Language of the windows and menus, French
does not appear at all, but instead I get a bunch of languages (excepted
English) that I'm not using :
  - English,
  - Deutsch (Deutschalnd)
  - English (Australia)
  - English (Canada)
  - English (United Kingdom)
  - English (New Zealand)
  - English (United States)
  - Espanol
  - Portugûes (Brasil)
  - Portugûes (Portugal)
and probably Chinese (I cannot reproduce the signs bu you can check the
screenshot)

This might be considered as normal as the languages are not
completely installed (as the message said), but still remains very
strange for a basic end user testing Ubuntu...

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04
  Package: language-selector-common 0.106

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1153331] Re: too many languages installed by default ?

2013-03-10 Thread Thibault D
OK, even after accepting to complete the installation of the languages,
French still does not appear in the Language of the windows and menus
list.

And when I click on Install / delete the languages... I get the list
of the installed languages where the French check-box is not ticked.

But on the same time, I do get the gnome-language-support windows
translated in French !

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 37707] Re: language-selector should not uninstall packages without a warning (allow opt-out)

2013-02-10 Thread Thibault D
Hi, I am seeing the same issue with a daily build of Raring Ringtail
(13.04) :

1/ Install a daily build on a USB disk and test it in French with
persistent data on.

2/ Launch gnome-language-selector, it will ask you to download the
remaining files to get a proper translated version.

3/ Accept that and discover that it downloads many files for languages
other than English (en) or French (fr).

In fact, when you try Ubuntu in French, the gnome-language-selector also
has (at least) Brazilian, Portuguese, Chinese-simplified and German
selected by default.

I have seen the following files being downloaded for example :

hunspell-de-ch
hunspell-de-de
hunspell-en-ca
hunspell-fr

hyphen-de
hyphen-en-us
hyphen-fr

libreoffice-l10n-de
libreoffice-l10n-en-gb
libreoffice-l10n-es
libreoffice-l10n-fr
libreoffice-l10n-pt
libreoffice-l10n-pt-br

libreoffice-help-de
libreoffice-help-en-gb
libreoffice-help-es
libreoffice-help-fr
libreoffice-help-pt
libreoffice-help-pt-br

4/ So then, uncheck all languages other than French and English, and discover
that - without any warning - it will remove a lot of programs that are not
language files.

I have seen for example :

Removing bluez-cups
Removing printer-driver-postscript-hp
Removing hplip
Removing printer-driver-hpcups
Removing printer-driver-gutenprint
Removing indicator-printers
Removing cups-browsed
Removing cups
Removing cups-filters
Removing ubuntu-desktop
Removing evince
Removing fonts-arphic-uming
Removing printer-driver-sag-gdi
Removing printer-driver-ptouch
Removing printer-driver-pnm2ppa
Removing ghostscript-x
Removing printer-driver-splix
Removing ghostscript-cups
Removing ghostscript
Removing ibus-sunpinyin
Removing ibus-table-wubi
Removing libevview3-3
Removing libevdocument3-4
Removing libspectre1:i386
Removing libgs9
Removing openoffice.org-hyphenation
Removing poppler-data

It's pretty strange and probably not very clean...

Status in “language-selector” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
After upgrading a recently-installed xubuntu-desktop from breezy to
dapper, I ran gnome-language-selector for the first time.

I selected Norwegian bokmål as my supported (and default) language,
and pressed apply. As I watched the debug log, I discovered that
language-selector removed the xubuntu-desktop, firefox and mozilla-
  mplayer packages _without warning_.

My language-selector package is version 0.1.15

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1083805] [NEW] Information message truncated

2012-11-27 Thread Thibault D
Public bug reported:

After a successful compression, file-roller shows the following message : %s
created successfully
In French, it is a little bit longer : Le fichier «[nbsp]%s[nbsp]» a été créé
avec succès

The exact string can be found at :
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/quantal/+source/file-roller/+pots/file-roller/fr/137/+translate

As you can see in the screen shot here attached, the sentence is not
correctly truncated : the word avec is cut in two parts : av and
ec, which does not make sense.

Hope this will help.

  Binary package hint: file-roller

Every time someone sends me a zip archive (.zip) with files containing

  1) File-roller shows a badly decoded name in its interface

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 986848] [NEW] An error message prompts that Python (2.7) needs to install a plugin instead of Totem needs [...]

2012-04-22 Thread Thibault D
Public bug reported:

Impossible to find the required plugin
3/ Both messages contain the following additional sentence : Python (2.7)

that Totem or your computer needs it.

2012-04-22 Thread Thibault D
Hi,
In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the content of the bug report is displayed differently in
apport.
I do not reproduce the bug with this new version.
Therefore, I will mark it as Fix Released.

  1) Go to System-Administration-Print
  2) Select an already configured printer.
  3) Right click on it and select Properties.
  4) Select Policies and you see that dropdown items are in English.
  5) Select Printer options and you see that all the items are in English.

  Affected releases:
All supported releases are affected by this bug, even Lucid Lynx.

Firefox printing support is affected too (it probably picks up from the same
source)
  1) Open Firefox
  2) Go to File-Print...
  3) Image Quality and Advanced tabs content is in English.

Many KDE apps are also affected
  1) Open any KDE application which can print anything, e.g. open an image in
Gwenview.
  2) Go to File → Print.
  3) Click »Properties« ans select the »Advanced« tab. All printer options
there are untranslated.
