[Desktop-packages] [Bug 537970]
Created attachment 62423 Preview of Abschlussarbeit.pdf as intended to print OK, just so people don't vote the document is broken I attached Abschlussarbeit.png, which shows how the document is supposed to print. What does in fact not print, though, is the PNG logo in the lower right corner. The text is kept to a minimum to make debugging easier. And, seriously, if you take a look at the experiments I performed to narrow down the problem (comment #2 above), how can you think I post a bug for an obviously broken document? We've been having that problem for months at work with just about every document we try to print - generated by LaTeX, OOo, LibreOffice, you name it. There is always some image that does not print. And I tried to view and print the document with Adobe Reader, too, and if I write Adobe Reader prints correctly, you can take my word for it. If anybody can get me started on building the project, I'm glad to help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/537970 Title: Evince does not print images in some pdf files. Public bug reported: Evolution crashes when I try to copy all entries from one address book to another one. Also, somehow a 2nd Personal Address Book got created and I can't delete it. This problem seemed to start within the last 2 days. I don't know what is causing it. I also tried to use Synaptic to re-install Evolution and the modules involving database support. The workaround *kinda* works. Here's how it did for me: 1. start ccsm 2. activate Ubuntu Unity Plugin - Switcher - Key to flip through the windows in the switcher. You will find this option is deactivated. Binding it will not unbind alt+circumflex right away 3. activate Application Switcher Plugin. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 998931] [NEW] menus appear on wrong monitor
Public bug reported: Background: I have 3 monitors (in a left/middle/right configuration) and an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 450. This means I have to use Xinerama, which means Unity falls back to Unity 2D. Most programs work fine. Problem: LibreOffice apps (like Calc and Writer) appear to have several bugs in their menu implementation: 1. The menus are per-window, instead of being at the top of the screen in the panel like other apps. This is fine with me, and *not* the topic of this bug report. Presumably if global menus become a configurable option, the mode in which libreoffice menus are currently operating will be expected to work correctly. I mention it only for completeness. 2. When a window is on the middle or right monitor, the menus open in the wrong position. For windows on the middle monitor, the menus open on the right monitor. For menus on the right monitor, the menus open on the correct monitor but align to the right of the menu item text. See the attached screenshots for clarification. LibreOffice apps are the only ones I've seen that exhibit this behavior. Note that this bug is similar to bug 974900, but is not the same. In that case, the menus are incorrectly right aligned (like in my right monitor case), but they span monitors. In my case, the menu will shift right a bit to avoid spilling onto the middle monitor. Hey! I think I'm onto the root cause. If you do a simple google search for the word trans you get the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I went digging around in CCSM and found that the window decorator plugin and the window rules plugin were both looking for trans in the window title and then doing strange things to those windows. Also, since it may not be clear to those who are not experiencing this bug, when gnome-settings-daemon crashes at startup, it means that most apps (Thunderbird, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) are totally unthemed, and many desktop-wide settings (such as font size adjustments, etc.) are not applied at all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 969535] Re: [power]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in engine_get_icon_priv()
This is not just an occasional crash for me; gnome-settings-daemon *always* segfaults on startup. So if anyone is working on this but having trouble reproducing the problem, let me know. Yes, this has been driving me crazy. Another side effect is if I select several messages and try to move them. If the last message I click is not already marked as read, then when I go to drag them they all get deselected because the UI instead decides that my drag is a click on the unread one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921013 Title: can no longer drag and drop an unread message in evolution Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: For years, I used to be able to read a message, later mark it as unread and then drag and drop it into another folder with it being kept unread. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 878198] Re: Difficult to grab window borders in unity-2d
Here's a very simple patch I hacked together for my own use, in case it's useful to anyone else. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 878198] Re: Difficult to grab window borders in unity-2d
Note that this will be a regression for folks doing LTS upgrades from Lucid to Precise. In Lucid, the default theme at least has a larger border on the bottom of the window. I'd argue that --- for 2D desktops in Precise --- the default theme's window borders should be fairly beefy for 2 reasons: 1. Differentiating windows: Without shadows to help define the edges of windows, it is can be hard to tell at a glance where one window ends and another begins when they are overlapping. Well-defined window borders would help this. 2. Resizing windows: As noted, it is difficult to grab very thin window borders. Larger window borders would help this. This is a real usability and quality issue that will affect many users when they upgrade from Lucid to Precise. ** Also affects: unity-2d Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: unity-2d -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878198 Title: Difficult to grab window borders in unity-2d Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “unity-2d” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “metacity” source package in Precise: Triaged Status in “unity-2d” source package in Precise: Invalid Bug description: In unity-2d it seems that window borders are only 1 pixel wide and are therefore very difficult to grab for window resize. Is there a way to bouce this topic? Actually I do really want Banshee to also scrobble songs I listen to on internet radio! Currently only local tracks are being scrobbled. Is there any way to get it? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to banshee in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290030 Title: Do not scrobble (add to last.fm library) radio songs Status in Banshee Music Player: New Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: banshee Some recommended songs from the last.fm radio are good and some are not. I do not want my last.fm library to be cluttered with songs I don't like just because I decided to listen to last.fm's recommendations. For xbindkeys users, this bug is reported against Debian here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=628654 The work around is to simply create a ~/.xbindkeys.noauto file (note the leading period on the file name). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 151365] Re: Autosave doesn't work for Unsaved Documents
Great logic. So, since cars and planes shouldn't crash perhaps we don't need safety features developed for them? Seriously, this is faulty logic. Software will from time to time crash. Sure, it shouldn't. But if reasonable steps can be taken to prevent data loss, they should. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions
Just an update for Aiptek users: The aapo patch works for my system. I'm using an Aiptek 12000u USB hyperpad with Ubuntu Linux 11.10. I just came from Lucid and nothing I did would work until I followed stealthdeath's instructions (above) - they work like a charm - I have full functionality within what I have so far tested. Thanks to everybody for you dedicated and selfless help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863154 Title: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions Status in The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP): Unknown Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: The tablet in overall seems to work correctly, with all pressure- features working. But quite frequently, while drawing, GIMP seems to wrongly read the coordinates of the stylus (as zeros, or negative values?), resulting in frequent, random 'line-peaks' in the direction of the left and upper image edges. With this bug it is hard to even use the tablet, since these problems are very frequent (see the exemplary image attached). The tablet works with no problems in MyPaint. The bug is reproducible in both Unity-2d and Unity-3d. I also notice the CPU usage increasing dramatically during drawing with any brush. Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect the Wacom Bamboo One tablet 2. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 872701] Re: Not possible to enter correct password after screen lock
Has there been any update on this defect? I have a fresh install of Ocelot, and have the same outputs as Michael for * gnome-screensaver --debug * ls -l /etc/shadow * ls -l /dev/null I have 4 layouts set up that I switch between using double-shift: * English (international AltGr dead keys) * English (programmer Dvorak) * English (US) * English (Dvorak) My default layout for the login screen is programmer Dvorak. If I lock the screen manually using Windows + L, and I type the same password (at least as far as keystrokes), regardless of the layout chosen, I cannot log in. However, if I click Switch User, I am back at the initial login screen, where my password works fine. Therefore, clicking Switch User and entering the correct password there seems to be a workaround.
