The scrollwheel of my mouse wont work correctly anymore

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
  Release: 12.04

I currently have connected two different mouse' and keyboards. One is a
Logitech combo, connected with one usb dongle (Mouse: Logitech MX620, Keyboard:
Pro2800 Cordelless Desktop)
Second one is a cable connected usb mouse [could not find designation] and a
ps2 connected logitech access deluxe
There was no problems with that combos at all, until now. My Scrolwheel of
the mx620 works only sometimes anymore (most time, not) Every key of that mouse
works fine. Only the wheel not. I dont know where it comes from. If I try to
scroll with the other, usb connected mouse, that works too.

Here is an output of lsusb:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1051494] Re: [, Analog Devices ID 1981, Green Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2012-11-21 Thread boskysquelch
Please could someone tell me what to do.

I have spent hours and hours reading, writing, tapping Googling,
reading, reading, reading and attempts at editing.

I presumed I would have to use the above patch. How do I do that?

How do I get this resolved please?

I want instructions please.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1051494] Re: [, Analog Devices ID 1981, Green Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2012-11-21 Thread boskysquelch
I have just reinstalled 12.04 to see if anything would resolve itself.
No luck.

I have sent the author an email to ask him to look at this.

Thank-you.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1079906] Re: 046d:c044 Logitech mouse does not work correctly

2012-11-23 Thread boskysquelch
@Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch)

Mouse wheel scrolling is back to front ie up is down, down is up.

Pointer takes or doesn't take , perform either random scrolling, no
selection for c&p, or everything but what is wanted, or won't select
what is wanted.

Panels and Desktop , Windows, Apps, roll up of apps, roll down of apps,
application of Volume in audio apps, using pointers in image editors.
file managers or Search app. ALL of these have an issue or a multiple of
issues.

No session is alike. Sometimes things work to a degree...user gets into
rythmn of use(even though the wrong actions perform incorrectly to
correctly on occassion) eg scrolling up to read pages_windows to scroll
down...then somewtimes nothing at all. scroll by use of wheel is back to
front with Volume controls, back to front with scroll windows of some
app but then not with others at all...grabbing side bars to scroll comes
and goes also...sometime the scroll does not happen but the page
poisitioning will jump to pages ahead..sometimes sessions have to cease
simply becasue it is impossible to focus on work on screen or keep the
panel up that is supposed top be up.

Two Logitech mice...both working correctly up until an Update a short
time ago.

This is not isolated to one machine...tested on 4 other machines..other
installations of 12.04 + Updates..used with upto four different
keyboards.

If it was one mouse and one machine I wouldn't be bothered.

As it is I would like to know if I'm wasting your time and mine.

If this is an issue that's too unfathomable then I guess my 10 years
plus of preferring and recommending to buy Logitech meeces is over.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1079906] Re: 046d:c044 Logitech mouse does not work correctly

2012-11-24 Thread boskysquelch
@Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch) during the first two weeks of
Septemeber of this year things finally went from bad to worse.

Up until the start of September 2012 I had noticed and steady regression
of the wired mouse's ability to operate as it should do. Over a number
of years; 3 infact. Ever hopeful that someone somewhere was having
issues and work was being done somewhere to some good. Believing that
Logitech mice were popular enough to be taken particular not of.

The it got to the point of putting it away to only use in Emergencies(eg
trackpad death on laptops) or to drop into Mac OSX on this Mac mini.
Before this time it had been bearable but not without issue.

The wireless mouse I use just became useless in a Ubuntu environs as of
the second or third week on September 2012; which was around the time I
found the now expired report of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1043413 . Up until
that time it had worked without issue. Not issues or problems at all.
Not withstanding that I never took it to it's multi-function
capabilities(eg different buttons for different uses in media players
etc) but it functioned totally as it should have done in programs such
as GIMP, Firefox, VLC etc..but now it will not play at all. Nothing
works correctly. It points but doesn't fire or rather fires randomly off
so randomly as to be like not worth of use.

Back to the wired mouse being used now. This message for example
required 20 plus extra clicks to be able to read & type whilst the
page scrolled randomly up and down. Then when I finally started typing
out these last two sentences the lines of text stopped jumping up and
down.

The above is quite typical ...and it is also quite typical that within 5
seconds of completing those sentences the problem began again :/

And now it's stopped. :)

Sometimes it never stops. Requiring a hard reset. Which sometimes puts a
stop to it. Sometimes not. But mostly as the session continues, it
continues to worsen in ever increasing and decreasing degrees. :(

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1051494] Re: [, Analog Devices ID 1981, Green Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2012-09-26 Thread boskysquelch
@Raymond thanks for that. I am currently reading through this
http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio.txt .

Not with the box ...agin...I was earlier..now I'm 50 miles from it...but
as and when I implement a fix I will come back, report how I fixed it
and update this bug report.

Thanks again. :)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1051494] Re: [, Analog Devices ID 1981, Green Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2012-09-16 Thread boskysquelch
@Dave Lentz . Thank-you for your response. I will remove the line as
suggested. I won't have access to the machine for a few days now but
would welcome any other suggestions or instructions to provide more
reports if requested.

I should also mention I have also tried a variety of other suggestions
and followed other instructions as supplied by the Ubuntu Community
covering Sound bugs/problem eg checking for mute in alsamixer.
reinstalling alsa/pulse.

And I will confirm that this problem has only happened

But I had already covered most of the bases through my own experiences
in the past. Usually I have managed to resolve issues logically and
methodically over the YEARS when this_similar Sound problems have
occured...but this has really thrown me. Nothing obvious to me has
worked. And chose to throw in this bug as it appeared very recently
after minimal updating. And has not been resolved with a complete wipe
of hard drive, reinstallation of 12.04 with a Canonical_LoCo provided
readymade disc.

One positive observation was that an addition_plugin to pulse
controller( the pauv_thingy) was that the system acknowledge that sound
was being played(using youtube) and the level indicator demonstrated
this with a moving bar pulsing to beats.

Sorry not a very good description... but it gave me some reassurance
that sound data was being processed yet not being produced audibly, from
the speakers.

Finally. May I ask if the descriptor of the bug is correct?
I am reporting that the onboard speakers no longer produce sound.
However sound IS produced if I use a usb powered speaker set through the
headphones jack socket.

I admit I was a bit confused as what to put whilst filling out the
apport requests. My bad. :/
