[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1055903] Re: hplip duplexer problem and scanner does not work
This may be closed. I am no longer using quantal; there is no problem with this in Bionic. Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to hplip in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055903 Title: hplip duplexer problem and scanner does not work Status in sane-backends: Incomplete Status in hplip package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This is quantal 64-bit. I have an HP Photosmart C310 scanner/printer, which was working properly both for printing and scanning, until the most recent hplip upgrade. As far as I can tell printing is working, but the hplip Device Manager, under Print Settings > General, does not recognize the duplexer, and will not let me check the item to show it is installed. Attempting to scan with xsane, either through the device manager, or directly with xsane, produces the following error: Failed to open device 'hpaio://net/Photosmart_Prem_C310_series?ip=192.168.2.110' The ip number is correct. I removed and reinstalled the printer, and also tried connecting with a USB cable instead of wireless, but I get the same errors. All of this works correctly in Precise. Audio on all applications works as expected on 13.04. The problem seems to have occurred during the 13-04 - 13.10 upgrade. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 952521] Re: Screen blanking and dpms can't be turned off
That is truly bizarre. On my system, fso-deviced is not installed. What I found that finally worked is changing xorg.conf, adding the line Option dpms false in the Server Flags section, and removing the Option DPMS line from the Monitor section. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/952521 Title: Screen blanking and dpms can't be turned off Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This is Kubuntu-11.10, all current updates applied, 64-bit. the problem is the screen keeps blanking -- going to black every few seconds, regularly, and moving the mouse does restore the normal screen. I do not have any screensavers activated, and everything on Power save is turned off. I tried turning off dpms with: xset dpms 0 0 0 xset dpms off xset -dpms And then maybe 30 seconds later, the screen goes black, and checking with xset -q, dpms has been turned back on. I cannot figure out how to completely disable dpms. this is extremely irritating, as I cannot work with the screen going black every few seconds. Something is turning it back on, and I haven't been able to figure out what. I set up xorg.conf to disable dpms with: Section ServerFlags Option blank time 0 Option standby time 0 Option suspend time 0 Option off time 0 Option dpms false EndSection After logging in, xset shows dpms is disabled, but after a few seconds, it comes back on. Is there a way to shut this off, once and for all? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1055903] Re: hplip duplexer problem and scanner does not work
Discovered the problem: Copying the file /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 from the precise 12.04 installation to the quantal 12.10 installation fixes the problem.
