[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1967963] Re: Firefox snap cannot be set as default browser under KDE

2022-05-06 Thread fantasai
I have the same problem in Xubuntu, fwiw. Firefox is unable to set
itself as the default browser no matter how many times I restart it and
click "Set as Default Browser" in its settings menu or its pop-up
reminders complaining that it's not the default. And clicking on links
in Thunderbird opens up in Chrome. However XFCE settings *thinks* it's
the default, if I open it up and look.

I eventually gave up and re-installed via apt using the mozilla.org
repo, and that version has no problem setting itself as default, so it's
clearly a snap packaging problem.

Firefox snap cannot be set as default browser under KDE

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I was unable to set Firefox as the default browser by going to
Settings -> Applications -> Default Applications -> Web browser. It
was set to Other... and web links opened in Kate.

In addition, I was unable to report a bug against Firefox because "it
is provided by a snap provided by Mozilla."

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1971502] [NEW] Downloads “Show in folder” button goes to /run/user/100/doc/.../ instead of chosen location

2022-05-03 Thread fantasai
Public bug reported:

Overview:
Firefox appears to be saving two copies of a downloaded file, one in the chosen
location and one in a special /run/user folder, and is showing that folder
instead of the chosen location when asked to open the downloaded file.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right-click on a page and choose “Save Page As..” or “Save Link As...”
2. Choose a location such as /home/username/.thunderbird/deleteme.html
3. Watch the download icon show download completion
4. Click the download icon in the toolbar, and click “Show in Folder” button in
that file's download.
5. Notice that it opens the file in /run/user/1000/doc/RANDOM/deleteme.html
instead of where you saved it.

Expected Results:
File is where I asked Firefox to save it, and Show in Folder opens that folder.

Actual Results:
There's an additional copy of the file at /run/user/100/doc/RANDOM/ and that is
the folder that gets opened from the Downloads menu.

Additional Notes:
* Tested on Firefox 99.0.1 Mozilla Firefox for Snap Ubuntu cannoical-002 - 1.0
using both my usual profile as well as a fresh new profile, same results both
times.
* I've never seen this /run/user stuff before, wondering if it's because of the
Snap packaging in Ubuntu 22.04?

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1465479] Re: Palm detection does not work on synaptics touchpad

Palm detection does not work on synaptics touchpad

Status in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am unable to type properly on the Dell xps 13 2015 model (Ubuntu
vivid) without first disabling "click to touch" in settings. The
cursor jumps to wherever the mouse pointer is and starts typing from
that point. Currently I cant type even three words straight without
the third word getting inserted somewhere in between the earlier words
or entire paragraphs getting deleted because of auto-selection...

  I tried setting PalmMinZ=100 in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-synaptics.conf but no luck after a reboot.
According to this page : http://xps13-9333.appspot.com/#touchpad
this was fixed in kernel 3.16 but I am on kernel 3.19 and the problem
  still exists.
