After performing some more tests: The triggers for the network-manager showing the arrow icon and no WiFi networks are: - Suspend mode (suspend/wake up) - Hardware wireless button (turn WiFi off/an) - Wireless network in network-manager GUI (deactivate/activate) - Network in network-manager GUI (deactivate/activate) btw: Lock screen has no influence. Dear all, I have discovered something that may not have been reported in here so far: After a fresh boot, when you suspend the machine, there will be arrows after waking up. If you do "service network-manager restart" once, you'll get the WiFi icon back. From now on you can suspend as many times you like, the WiFi icon will stay there! [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1606319] [NEW] Nautilus executing "folder up" command subsequently inside NFS mounted folders
Public bug reported: I've got automounted several NFS folders using this kind of command in fstab: 192.168.1.10:/Pictures/mnt/Pictures nfs noauto,x-systemd.automount,x-systemd.device-timeout=10,x-systemd.idle-timeout=1min 0 0 These mounts are linked to the default home folders using this kind of command: ln -s /mnt/Pictures/ /home/my_pc/ If I browse into a folder which is physically there (e.g. "Downloads"), everything is fine. If I browse into one of the mounted/linked folders, nautilus navigates subsequently back to the home folder. It navigates in the tree up folder by folder in about one folder per minute. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1583303] Re: Laptop not going to suspend when lid closed
Hi Christopher I just tried updating the BIOS using Windows 10 (it's a dualboot system). But it seems the BIOS F.67A is not yet supported by Windows 10: - There's no BIOS update available for download, if you chose Windows 10 - Tried with the BIOS update by chosing Windows 8.1 as OS. BIOS update was successful, rebooted and after some screen blinking suddenly the BIOS recovery started and probably flashed the previous BIOS F.66 back. When I looked at the BIOS setup it does list W7, W8 and W8.1 but not W10 compatibility. However, my BIOS shows now F.67 - not sure if that's true. Will wait for HP to hopefully release something for Windows 10 and then retry and keep you updated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1583303 Title: Laptop not going to suspend when lid closed Status in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release: 16.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installiert: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Installationskandidat: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Versionstabelle: *** 1:1.0.12-1build2 500 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What you expected to happen If in power options I have defined the laptop to go to suspend mode when laptop lid is closed, I would expect it to do exactly that. 4) What happened instead Nothing happened - the laptop remains on while the display switches off. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1583303] Re: Laptop not going to suspend when lid closed
Dear Christopher It's a HP ENVY 17-j188ez. In the meantime I've noticed that the problem doesn't happen all the time, however I've not yet found out under which circumstances it happens. Every night I put it into sleep by closing the lid. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems like if it stops working, it won't work at least until the next reboot (however, a reboot doesn't necessarily solve it for the moment. It *may* work after a reboot). I was also thinking if it may be related to updates (e.g. Kernel), because I'd say it usually works good for a few days, maybe up to weeks and then again there can be periods where it won't work whatever you try. With the panel unlocked I would expect to be able to chose one of the preset images or use any other image. 4) What happened instead I just does not use the images. The default image remains in place. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1583303] [NEW] Laptop not going to suspend when lid closed
Public bug reported: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release:16.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installiert: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Installationskandidat: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Versionstabelle: *** 1:1.0.12-1build2 500 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What you expected to happen If in power options I have defined the laptop to go to suspend mode when laptop lid is closed, I would expect it to do exactly that. 4) What happened instead Nothing happened - the laptop remains on while the display switches off. I then tried the nvidia binary driver (361.42). For both GPU selections made in nvidia x server settings, Intel and nvidia, the laptop suspended few seconds after closing the lid. When I switched back to X.Org-X-Server the problem was back again.
