[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1758141] Re: language selecter crashing when trying to change language region german-german to german-switzerland
Thank you very much for your help. Somehow you have changed this to Invalid. While I can see that this is "just" a problem with permission, I don't think that the program should crash if it doesnt have permission (for whatever buggy reason). The program should detect that and give a meaningful error message to the user and not just crash. I have reverted your edit of changing the status to Invalid due to these reasons. ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to language-selector in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1758141 Title: language selecter crashing when trying to change language region german-german to german-switzerland Status in language-selector package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: language selecter crashing when trying to change language region german-german to german-switzerland ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: language-selector-gnome 0.165.4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-37.42~16.04.1-generic 4.13.13 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-37-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.15 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Mar 22 20:27:05 2018 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-language-selector InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-12-05 (107 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20170801) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python3.5 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) SHELL=/bin/bash LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=de_DE XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= SourcePackage: language-selector UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1758141/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Then why is there an option to mark duplicates if duplicates aren't supposed to be marked? so you think it's an xorg problem as well? The flickering mainly occurs, when the cursor is hovering over the program header or the upper ubuntu status bar (black bar on top). I have seen this bug has been reported many times, I myself have easily found 3 reports from several versions of Ubuntu, I would highly appreciate if this could finally be fixed. Also, related to that, the CPU rises to 100% quite quickly and the Computer crashes completely. It's enough to open a browser, then a file explorer, and trying to open a pdf from the file explorer. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1744496] Re: Cursor flickering using DisplayLink and HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Portable Monitor
** Summary changed: - Cursor flickering using HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Portable Monitor + Cursor flickering using DisplayLink and HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Portable Monitor -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1744496 Title: Cursor flickering using DisplayLink and HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Portable Monitor Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When using the HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Display on my Lenovo T430s, the cursor is flickering on the Built-In laptop screen, when the other screen is connected. This only happens when the display is connected. I will file another bug report for this. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1744496] Re: Cursor flickering using HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Portable Monitor
@Christopher, what do you think are the other bugs related to? XORG as well? Or DisplayLink? How do I properly report them? How do I use the gnome flashback package? ** Description changed: When using the HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Display on my Lenovo T430s, the cursor is flickering on the Built-In laptop screen, when the other screen is connected. The flickering mainly occurs, when the cursor is hovering over the program header or the upper ubuntu status bar (black bar on top). + + I have seen this bug has been reported many times, I myself have easily + found 3 reports from several versions of Ubuntu, I would highly + appreciate if this could finally be fixed. + + Also, related to that, the CPU rises to 100% quite quickly and the + Computer crashes completely. It's enough to open a browser, then a file + explorer, and trying to open a pdf from the file explorer. This only + happens when the display is connected. I will file another bug report + for this. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1744496] [NEW] Cursor flickering and Computer Crashing using DisplayLink and HP EliteDisplay S140u
Public bug reported: I am trying to use the HP EliteDisplay S140u USB Display on my Lenovo T430s, therefore I have installed DisplayLink softwares. However, there are some issues occuring now. First of all, the cursor is flickering on the Built-In laptop screen, when the other screen is connected. The flickering mainly occurs, when the cursor is hovering over the program header or the upper ubuntu status bar (black bar on top). Second, the CPU rises to 100% quite quickly and the Computer crashes completely. It's enough to open a browser, then a file explorer, and trying to open a pdf from the file explorer. This only happens when the display is connected. Third, to activate the usb screen, I have to plug it in, then go to settings, activate the screen, unplug and plug it in again. I have seen this bug has been reported many times, I myself have easily found 3 reports from several versions of Ubuntu, I would highly appreciate if this could finally be fixed. If you were led here by DisplayLink's website, you were led here in error as no useful debugging information has been provided by the original reporter, which is necessary to root cause, and solve the issue he reported. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1513045] Re: software center takes ages to open installation file
** Description changed: When I open an installation file (.deb) the software center opens as supposed. But it only shows the start page for quite a while. I was using Fedora before where it instantly shows the installation page, so it seemed broken in Ubuntu. However, when reporting the bug it was the first time I was waiting long enough until it opened the installation page. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1513045] [NEW] software center takes ages to open installation file
Public bug reported: When I open an installation file (.deb) the software center opens as supposed. But it only shows the start page for quite a while. Several people can confirm that there is a noticable difference in terms of sound/microphone quality between Android and UT in phone calls. With UT, my voice gets distorted to an extent that person at the other end have real difficulties to hear what I am saying, while with Android call quality is much better with no distortion. I have had a suspicion for a long time that this might be a software and not a hardware issue. After trying Android and Ubuntu on the same hardware I believe this suspicion is proved correct. Public bug reported: I can not connect my Android devide (Huawei Y530). Ubuntu won't stop opening popup windows saying different things such as "unable to mount Android device - suitable udev device can not be found" and other messages. And it opens the file system several times. All this continues and makes the Computer unusable as long as the device is connected. I had the bug on Ubuntu 15.04 as well as on 15.10. It happens with other Android devices as well. I'm new to Ubuntu, Linux and bug reporting.
