Title:
gedit handles opening big files badly

Status in Light-Weight Text Editor for Gnome:
  Confirmed
Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gedit

Opening big text files (400 MB, 750 MB) in gedit is bad
  - from a usability standpoint
-> There's no progress bar or cancel button for the action, and the load
takes a long time.
  - from a system standpoint:
-> In earlier versions, gedit would take so much memory until the system
swapped all other applications to disk, and the system became unusable.
-> Since Ubuntu 9.04 Beta, gedit crashes without a GUI message, but the
message "failed to allocate bytes" in the console.

  Original description:
I just opened a 400 MB text file (mbox mail file) in gedit, and it my system
has now been unresponsive for minutes. Other editors can open large files
without a problem. Also, there's no progress bar or cancel button that would
make it easy to see how long gedit is loading the file or to cancel the load.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1116389] [NEW] alsa didn't change sound output to wireless headphones correctly

2013-02-05 Thread svecpetr
Public bug reported:

ubuntu sound system didn't work correctly wireless headphones

same bug is in 12.04, 11.10

I have wireless (bluetooths) headphones (Genius HS-905BT), at first time
at pairing device everything goes well

but at next run, it didn't work correctly example

step1)
- pair your bluetooths headphones with ubuntu
- change output to headphones (sound will play from headphones, ok)
- try change volume (in ubuntu), it will work fine

step2)
- turn off your headphones, ubuntu detect turn off and change output to default
(analog stereo)
(- if your ubuntu didn't change output to analog stereo do it self)

step3)
- turn on your headphones, ubuntu detect turn on and change output to
headphones (sound will play from phones)
(- if your ubuntu didn't change automaticaly output to your headphones, do it
self and go to step 2)
(ubuntu usually need to do it 3 times, than do it automatically)

(- if you ubuntu changed output to head phones, sound will playing from
headphones)
BUT DIDN'T CHANGE OUTPUT SETTINGS, SO YOU WILL SEE SETTING AS IS IN ENCLOSURE
(ubuntu shows that output is going to analog stereo, that's mistake)
KNOW TRY ADD OR LESS VOLUME, and ubuntu will change volume for analog stereo,
not for active output headphones !!!
so you are not able to change volume in headphones

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 934148] Re: more ip addresses on single network card

2012-02-18 Thread svecpetr
did you say that network manager can handle more ip static adresses

... haha ... newer can it

you can add there more ip addresses ... and after computer restart try
type "ifconfig" and you find out... that you are using ONLY ONE IP
ADDRESS... ONLY THE FIRST ONE

so didn't exists any other way that this one!!!

and bug is it... because older ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 ... works fine
with this
