[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1048311] Re: Laptop psmouse doesin't work after log in on Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit)
Christopher, thanks for the feedback. By the way, on re-reading this bug report, I realized that I gave you some wrong information. I now remember what I had to do to get the laptop mouse working again. Basically, I had to purge out all of the gnome/ubuntu desktop configs in my home directory (e.g. .gnome*, .config, .local). I made a backup of all of my "dot" files and folders, then took them out. When I logged back in, the problem had cleared up. I don't know if this helps, but I'm putting this on for the record. I discovered this because I created a new user and logged in, and the mouse functioned correctly, leading me to realize that it must be a problem in the local configs for my user. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1048311 Title: Laptop psmouse doesin't work after log in on Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: On bootup, the laptop builtin mouse works correctly (even the scroll pad works) on the graphics log in screen. But when you log in, the mouse cursor disappears and stops working. I have to use my bluetooth mouse from this point on. If I do the following commands, it starts working again: # modprobe -r psmouse # modprobe psmouse proto=imps However, the scroll pad (side scroll bar on the touchpad) no longer will scroll large pages, and just moves the mouse around on the screen. Doug Barbieri, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, please note given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding.
