[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1160521] Re: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees
Setup: Plug the 1600x900 HP monitor into the Aspire D255E VGA socket Boot the raring amd64 .iso (the raring i386 .iso works fine, defaults to normal rotation) Systems Settings Displays select mirror displays off select laptop display off select monitor display to 1600x900 notice that the rotation only gives two choices, counterclockwise and clockwise select apply the display is sideways get rotation to normal either by using xrandr or by selecting 1024x768 which looks a little silly on the big screen do the install boot, same thing on the systems settings displays i.e. mirror displays off etc. last install, yesterday, set to 1024 x 768 normal rotation and did apply then set to 1600x900 and the normal rotation stayed there then did apply. On the live, why does the rotation selection normal not appear as a choice with the higher resolutions - on ubuntu amd64? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1160521] Re: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees
Problem still exists on brand new amd64 raring. Live boot of .iso any resolutions higher than 1152 the systems settings displays only allows counterclockwise and clockwise. There is no option for normal shown. After install, same thing. The systems settings gui does not have normal option for any resolution past 1152. As in comments above (thank you): xrandr --output VGA1 --rotate normal works. Also tried setting 1152 in normal, then did systems settings displays set to 1600x900 and the normal option stayed in the drop down, and did work. Note this is an Acer Aspire 1 netbook running amd64 just fine, it's laptop screen is 1024x600 has no problem running external monitor at 1600x900 once normal rotation is set. This display settings deficiency exists on both 12.04 and 13.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160521 Title: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: raring amd64 displays 1600x900 as 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees, laying on its side. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1160521] Re: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees
What I did was install raring amd64 iso with defaults as it is in daily build. I didn't do any changes, just installed, booted, then brought up displays to set the correct resolution for the monitor which is 1600x900, wide, with all text running horizontal wide. raring i386 iso install is fine. I'll take a look at why the default daily build may be setting rotation differently than it used to. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll try them. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1160521] Re: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees
xrandr --output VGA1 --rotate normal worked fine. Any clue why the default as downloaded from daily build is twisted left? Thanks again. I was getting a crick in my neck.
