[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1754803] Re: [FFe] Disable telepathy support in gnome-contacts
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-contacts - 3.28.0-1ubuntu1 --- gnome-contacts (3.28.0-1ubuntu1) bionic; urgency=medium * Disable building telepathy support and drop related dependencies (LP: #1754803) -- Tim LunnTue, 20 Mar 2018 23:06:31 +1100 ** Changed in: gnome-contacts (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-contacts in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754803 Title: [FFe] Disable telepathy support in gnome-contacts Status in gnome-contacts package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: We would like to disable (at buildtime) telepathy support in gnome- contacts Feature Freeze Justification Telepathy support is largely being deprecated in GNOME. Gnome-contacts is one of few GNOME modules still using it. It has been disabled in gnome-online-accounts (and will be completely removed from GOA next cycle[1]). With the GOA provider gone it is less useful since you won't get contacts from telepathy clients and you can't make calls. presumably the chat still works though if manually configured. Debian is considering disabling it this cycle. Upstream will consider it next cycle gnome-contacts is not seeded on any flavors, other than the vanilla- gnome-desktop. gnome-contacts is currently the only thing pulling in telepathy and all its deps when installing vanilla-gnome-desktop. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1754803] Re: [FFe] Disable telepathy support in gnome-contacts
You can tweak debian/rules to apply different configure flags when this package is built for Ubuntu. But go ahead and ask Debian again if they want this change themselves too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-contacts in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754803 Title: [FFe] Disable telepathy support in gnome-contacts Status in gnome-contacts package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: We would like to disable (at buildtime) telepathy support in gnome- contacts Feature Freeze Justification Telepathy support is largely being deprecated in GNOME. I would also, but don't think that is likely to happen in time for bionic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-contacts in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754803 Title: [FFe] Disable telepathy support in gnome-contacts Status in gnome-contacts package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: We would like to disable (at buildtime) telepathy support in gnome- contacts Feature Freeze Justification Telepathy support is largely being deprecated in GNOME. this makes sense. I'd prefer to sync an update doing this from Debian, but your call, go ahead. ** Changed in: gnome-contacts (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-contacts in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754803 Title: [FFe] Disable telepathy support in gnome-contacts Status in gnome-contacts package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: We would like to disable (at buildtime) telepathy support in gnome- contacts Feature Freeze Justification Telepathy support is largely being deprecated in GNOME.
