Re: Camel 4.0 M3 release in April 2023

2023-04-05 Thread Jeremy Ross
+1

With M3 people can start using salesforce's Pub/Sub API, which is their
latest event publishing/streaming API. Streaming API is considered legacy,
and although they say Streaming API will be around for years, Pub/Sub API
is the future, and it has lots of advantages and should be considered for
greenfield stuff.

Would love some feedback on the Pub/Sub API support. There were some tricky
Avro issues to deal with and I tried to make it as flexible for users as
possible.

have CAMEL-18551 (salesforce Pub/Sub API) ready for M2.

Re: [camel] branch main updated: Spring doc minor fix.

2022-12-28 Thread Jeremy Ross
It looks like the maven xref checker doesn't look at sub-projects to
resolve xrefs (
https://github.com/apache/camel/blob/6c84eb95ace6f4e57a90e5b660c292f89801abc2/docs/antora-playbook-local-xref-check.yml#L22-L34).
Therefore xrefs to spring, spring boot, camel-k, etc. are not allowed.

Re: CI jobs for publishing SNAPSHOTs

2022-07-31 Thread Jeremy Ross
I don't know anything about Jenkins, but I suspect it's getting skipped
because of this:

when {
branch 'main'
}
https://github.com/apache/camel/blob/b254e0e8269980b05e340d685d4704369b01ed1e/Jenkinsfile.deploy#L62-L64

The branch wouldn't be 'main', it'd be '3.18.x', therefore the step is
skipped. Same issue with 3.14.x

Looks like the last time we were getting 3.x.[1+] builds was 3.7.x. I
noticed that branch has a modified Jenkinsfile:

when {
branch 'camel-3.7.x'
}
https://github.com/apache/camel/blob/364372f1a79875224c5d842bd001827e5d25f44e/Jenkinsfile.deploy#L62-L64

Obviously it's best to not let improperly formatted code into the repo to
begin with, but we can give this a try and see how it works out in practice.

Re: HEADS-UP: maven profile changes

2022-04-30 Thread Jeremy Ross
I suspect that sorting/formatting by default was fairly effective at
keeping the codebase compliant with standards. If a certain maven profile
is required to format and/or sourcecheck, it seems that we'll end up with
more non-compliant code.

I know we're trying to speed up build times, so is there some other way we
can check formatting? Commit hooks, etc.?

Re: Default behaviour of echoing client headers

2022-02-04 Thread Jeremy Ross
Yes, most components (and processors in general) pass along headers. It's a
pattern that's common to message-oriented middleware generally. Often with
CXF, JMS, and HTTP, etc., we use the headerFilterStrategy option to tightly
control which headers flow in and out of Camel.
