Re: [JCS] Rework logging

2014-08-20 Thread Yogesh Rao
Hi Gary,

Not that i have anything against the log4j 2 guys :-) its just that log4j
2 combines both the API and a implementation I am right now not sure of how
the segregation has been done between them i.e. during deployment when
using it in API mode does it have any dependency on other log4j2 jars etc.

Re: [JCS] Rework logging

2014-08-20 Thread Yogesh Rao
Though i am not a member of the dev team :-) I would support a full fledge
facade implementation which doesn't provide any logging at all and let the
framework user decide which logging would he would like to bind it to.
SLF4J does that very neatly and its also easy, i am also aware it might
turn down the performance a little.

Re: [SANDBOX][BEANUTILS2] Property expressions

2014-05-20 Thread Yogesh Rao
How about giving the user the options

1. go the traditional way of calling the series of get methods and perform
the operation
or
2. the pure expression way (this wouldnt allow the user to mix with the
first style)

the 2nd option does seem very similar to what jxpath does for living, but
having said this i am not very sure of all the feature it comes bundled
with. Does it handle custom converters aswell?

[beanutils2] Automatic Datatype Transformers / Converters

2014-04-16 Thread Yogesh Rao
Hi,

I see that the datatype transformers still needs to be incorporated into
the BU2 project. I have a fair bit of idea on what needs to be done in that
i.e extending AbstractTransformer for the specific datatypes and
incorporating the call in DefaultBeanPropertySetter.invokeSetter method (is
my understanding right here?) so wanted to know if i have to contribute to
the source do i raise a JIRA for a specific datatype and proceed ahead
adding patches to it?

Please advice.

Re: [beanutils2] Checkstyle Errors

Hello Benedikt,

Thanks for the reply ... I will not look at the checkstyle issues for
now... I looked at the mail pointed out earlier by you and will try to work
on it... I do understand now in a nutshell for BU2 to be released it needs
to have the exact same functionality what BU1 had and probably this could
be a starting point for me, However if possible please let me know apart
from the fluent API style coding design, are there any other features that
BU2 would cater?

Thanks Andre for those links they have been very helpful...

[beanutils2] Checkstyle Errors

2014-04-03 Thread Yogesh Rao
Hi,

I was planning to contribute to the bu2 project and thought fixing
checkstyle errors should be a good start to it.
I ran the mvn checkstyle:checkstyle command to generate the report which
ended up showing 3218 errors. I wanted to know if all the errors needs to
fixed or only few specific ones.

Please suggest ..

Cheers!
