Notifications about board miniutes

2016-12-01 Thread Pierre Smits
Hi all,

First: my apologies to all who feel that this posting has gone to wrong
address.

Up to August of this year I received a notification each time the board
presented their minutes to the public. But after August I have seen none..
Is it just me or have others not received those notifications anymore since
then like me? Has the policy of informing the public changed?

Best regards,

Pierre Smits

Hi folks,

the next week we have in Salzburg a DataCamp, a meetup about Big Data:

https://www.meetup.com/Salzburg-Big-Data-Meetup/events/231844168/

Where I'm going to make a session introducing Apache Beam.

I'll share here the material afterwards, very introductory anyway.

Cheers,

Correct. There are a number of other large repositories that also feed into the
Central Repo and the ASF has some control over all of it from all I know.

[QUESTION] Is Maven Central part of the ASF infrastructure?

2016-12-01 Thread Jacques Le Roux

I'm new to the Maven world (through Gradle), and I wonder: is Maven Central
part of the ASF infrastructure?

I assumed Maven Central was just http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/ , but I understand now that Maven Central
is (officially) at https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/
Though when I look into both they look the same, so is https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/ only a redirection to
http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/ or a mirror; or ? (I'm lost :))

Thanks

Jacques

Dear fellow committers,

Hello Apache Committers

On behalf of the Apache Community Development team I am sending you out a
link to the ASF's first Committers Diversity Survey. Participation is
completely voluntary and we hope very much that all 5861 of you will
participate in the survey.

Diversity Survey Link

Please click the link below to take the survey:

http://communitysurvey.apache.org/

I just completed the survey. It only takes like 3 minutes. No reason not to
participate.

Regards,
Benedikt

Background Information
-

If you have not seen the survey announcement or followed the mailing list
discussions around the survey and why we are running it, then you can find
out more details on the survey itself or at the link below:

https://blogs.apache.org/comdev/entry/the_apache_community_development_team

The survey is confidential and anonymous. In order to restrict access to
committers only, you will need to login to access the survey weblink. The
survey tool will not store your Apache ID nor link it to any of your
responses and it will not capture your IP address.

The survey will be open from 28th November 2016 to the 11th December 2016.
The survey results will be announced approximately a week after the survey
closes on the committers and community development mailing lists. We hope
to get as many responses as possible so that we can get a better picture of
the diversity of our committer base.

Thank you very much for your support and hope that you are also looking
forward to seeing the results.

Thanks

There doesn't seem to be a well-defined tag for a twitter account[1], so
we'd likely have to go for the slightly wordy

Then check the DOAP for the homepage or profilepage containing twitter.com

Thanks for this information Daniel

BTW, I'm new to the Maven world (through Gradle), I wondered: is Maven Central
part of the ASF infrastructure?

I assumed Maven Central was just http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/ , but I understand now that Maven Central
is (officially) at https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/
Though when I look into both they look the same, so is https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/ only a redirection to
http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/ or a mirror; or ? (I'm lost :))

Thanks

Jacques

My one concern was providing credentials to a non-Apache site. Should I be

You are not. communitysurvey, which asks for credentials, is on ASF
hardware. No credentials get passed to surveymonkey.
