Re: Events calendar: help wanted
OK, done. https://community-calendar.staged.apache.org/ shows the calendar from a local copy of the calendar data. It should look exactly the same as the main site. The plan is to fetch the calendar regularly using a GHA cron job (daily should be sufficient; it can always be triggered manually if necessary). Re: Events calendar: help wanted
Note that we don't have a DPA with Google, and it is extremely unlikely that we ever will, so the calendar on the main page also falls foul of the ASF privacy policy. Given that the data is static, it should not be too difficult to extract the data when the site is built. I'll try and look at that later. Planed contribution from Vefko
Hi All Since about seven year I work at the Vefko project, a NGO based in Switzerland. One of our main goal is to train disabled people in IT and programming to geve them better opportunities as employees. Now we have our first "IV Eingliederungsmassnahme" (Dont know how to call it in English). The Invaliedenversicherung (which is a government backed assurance for disabled people) pay our organisation to get a person reintegrated into the business world. We will work with this people at the Apache Community, so they can gain experience in programming and learn to work independently. I think, the calendar would be a good start for this person. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. Regards, Raphael
Re: I am interested in contributing to the
Thank you for your interest in the Apache Software Foundation projects. The ASF is home to more than 200 projects that span many topics, programming languages, project sizes, code complexity, and other ways of measuring. So where you get involved is going to vary based on your interests. * Projects by language: https://projects.apache.org/projects.html?language * Projects by category: https://projects.apache.org/projects.html?category * Projects by size: https://projects.apache.org/projects.html?number * Projects by name: https://projects.apache.org/projects.html?name Most ASF projects conduct much of their discussion on a mailing list. These lists can be found at https://lists.apache.org/ where you can read the recent, and historical, discussions around the project. This might give you an idea of whether a particular project is a good fit for you. Most of our projects have their source code on GitHub, where you can see what the open issues are, review pull requests, or contribute changes. https://github.com/apache/ If you are interested in working on community building, that's what the Community Development (ComDev) project is about. Our work is divided into various working groups, which are listed on our website at https://community.apache.org/working-groups/ We're a big organization, with a lot of projects, so if any of this is overwhelming, please to ask your followup questions here, and we'll try to guide you towards where you can best fit in. Welcome! Rich, for Apache Community Development. > On Apr 18, 2024, at 9:51 AM, paulo ambrocio wrote: > > is there any documentation or list of links so I can start contributing? > > thanks, > > Paulo

Hi Sanyam, Thank you so much. I’m going to suggest some edits to the comdev website to improve navigation to the hyperlinks you provided. They are not linked to from the GSoC page so we can fix that now. Thanks for all your efforts as Org Admin for GSoC this year. lewismc On Thu, Apr 18, 2024 at 04:44 Sanyam Goel wrote: > Hi Lewis > all the communication is happening on ment...@community.apache.org list > > Please subscribe to it, > this list is specific for GSoC mentors only and all the communication > there should not be available outside that list > Also I advice you to go through the following links as below for more steps > https://community.apache.org/mentoring/ > https://community.apache.org/gsoc/guide-to-being-a-mentor.html > > https://community.apache.org/gsoc/guide-to-being-a-mentor.html#staying-in-touch > > FYI: we haven't received any scoring on the proposals received for the > Nutch project, I advise you to start a new communication thread on the > mentors list, as the deadline is already passed and we can continue from > there. > you can find all the details/announcements in the mentor list > > > Thanks, > Sanyam Goel > > On Thu, Apr 18, 2024 at 4:07 AM lewis john mcgibbney > wrote: > >> Hi dev@, >> Can someone please point me to the GSoC happenings? Re: ASF on Redbubble
Sorry to hear about the bad experience at Redbubble. I like the quality of customink shirts, and I think they support custom stores [1]. I don’t know prices or policies though, just throwing this suggestion/alternative out there. Re: Where is GSoC communications taking place?
Hi Lewis all the communication is happening on ment...@community.apache.org list Please subscribe to it, this list is specific for GSoC mentors only and all the communication there should not be available outside that list Also I advice you to go through the following links as below for more steps https://community.apache.org/mentoring/ https://community.apache.org/gsoc/guide-to-being-a-mentor.html https://community.apache.org/gsoc/guide-to-being-a-mentor.html#staying-in-touch FYI: we haven't received any scoring on the proposals received for the Nutch project, I advise you to start a new communication thread on the mentors list, as the deadline is already passed and we can continue from there. you can find all the details/announcements in the mentor list Thanks, Sanyam Goel On Thu, Apr 18, 2024 at 4:07 AM lewis john mcgibbney wrote: > Hi dev@, > Can someone please point me to the GSoC happenings? Any existing references need to be removed until we have replacement. So far the only posdible alternative suggested is https://www.printful.com/ We could really do with a handful of alternatives to look at. Mark Gruß Richard Am 23. I'll do that if my request for an explanation of why the account was suspended gets nowhere. I have ordered several OpenNLP shirts in the past from Redbubble. I did a recent order for OpenNLP, Airflow, Solr, and NiFi shirts (can never have enough, right?) and RedBubble canceled the OpenNLP and Airflow ones due to Redbubble’s IP/Publicity Rights Policy [1]. I only see Solr in the ComDev store. It may be the case that RedBubble is (finally) taking steps against sellers that sell items using logos they don't have the rights to. Last time I went looking there were a LOT of items with logos for commercial software. You might have got caught up in that. I just wanted to bring it to the ASF's attention. Is Redbubble still the place to get ASF swag? It is the place ComDev maintains although some projects may have set up alternatives. The simplest solution may be to get those PMCs to request that the relevant logos are added to the ComDev store. It just needs an email from someone on the PMC to this list confirming that the PMC would like the logo added.
