 Yes.

We implement a theoretically federated system. Cordova would

The changes looks pretty basic to me.

Lets see what Joe has to say about the deprecation.

Also, I would like to add one more to my interest list: Change plugins to
have distinct package names

  our intern a while ago)
  - Move FileHelpers out of core (Most functionality now lives in
  CordovaResourceApi)
  - Move ExifHelpers out of core and into Camera (used only by Camera)

These three are just a matter of deleting the files from cordova-android,
and adding them into the plugins that use them. Joe - is this what you
thought we should apply the deprecation policy to? I'd like to just delete
them since these aren't documented in our plugin guide at all, but it
wouldn't hurt to just add @Deprecated to them for a while as well. If we do
add @Deprecated, we should still put copies of them in the relevant plugins
so that our plugins aren't using deprecated classes.

FileHelpers is used by multiple plugins, so it should be copy pasted into
each plugin that uses it (but delete the unused methods in each). Before
this can be done, we'll need to put each plugin in its own package, or else
the files will conflict. This has already been discussed, but I don't think
there's been an issue created for it yet.

  - Extract Database plugin out of core (and into... cordova-labs?
  cordova-android?)

For sure we should rip this out. But to where I'm not sure. Anyone have
opinions? Maybe put the plugin right in cordova-android?

   - Change CordovaWebview constructors to accept a CordovaInterface
instead of a Context (get the Context from the getActivity() of
  CordovaInterface)

This should be a harmless / easy change unless I'm missing something.

Having said that, I will study on them further. And yes there are a
good list of issues, I am going through them.

Commit Issue

2013-07-27 Thread Sharif Ahmed
Hi,

I have just made my first commit for jira issue:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-4410

I have followed all the steps in the contributor work flow. I have one
question though.
My pull request appears to be in my forked cordova-android not the apache
cordova-android.

Is this normal, or have I done something wrong?
In the docs it says: By pushing your topic branch onto your fork, an
cordova-android maintainer can review and merge the topic branch into the
main repository.
I am confused.

My pull request:
https://github.com/sharifahmed/cordova-android/pull/1

Please let me know.

Thanks.

we split up all of the
core plugins into their own separate repos. I haven't been able to

Instead of uglifying the cordova.apache.org front page by adding

 the
core plugins in the Contributor Workflow page?

Yes, I am looking to fix this issue. I am testing it using this online
tool http://dillinger.io/
you are right in the .md it does look fine, but not in the html.

I was thinking of adding a extra linebreak, I already did it, and it looks good.

I will try the 4 spaces soln too.

Docs are a bit hard to generate due to the dependent tools required, but if
you're looking to fix docs, you'll need to be able to generate them to test
 your fixes.

In this case, I'd guess it looks fine in the .md file, but when translated
to html does not look as desired. Might need to add 4 spaces before each $
 line.

 Subject: Is Formatting issue fixed?

In the The Command-line Interface, one of the Add Feature section
 looks like this:

Accelerometer, compass, and geolocation: $ cordova plugin add
 https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cordova-plugin-device-motion.git
 $ cordova plugin add
 https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cordova-plugin-device-orientation.git
 $ cordova plugin add
 https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cordova-plugin-geolocation.git

I want to re-format it like this:
 Accelerometer, compass, and geolocation:
 $ cordova plugin add
 https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cordova-plugin-device-motion.git
 $ cordova plugin add
 https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cordova-plugin-device-orientation.git
 $ cordova plugin add
 https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/cordova-plugin-geolocation.git

 Is this fixed already?

I have checked guide/cli/index.md and it seems fixed, but I don't see
 the result in the docs.

 Please let me know.

Wiki Updated

2013-07-26 Thread Sharif Ahmed
I have updated the Contributor Workflow page of the Wiki.

The section that has been updated was called Identify Work, which has
now be renamed as The process of contributing.

Previously, it was just a one liner, which wasn't so helpful.

Being a newcomer to the project, I followed some steps and had newbie
questions. This was the focus of my update.

Please check it out. If anyone has any comments on this, you are most welcome.

Sharif.

Re: Wiki Updated

2013-07-26 Thread Sharif Ahmed
Marcel - you are right, I also think the repo list should be placed
in cordova.apache.org . The wiki always comes second.

If you even google cordova, the first think anyone will see is the
link to the site, so putting it their will definitly be helpful to the
contributors.

Having said that, we have as you said bazillion repos :P so a nice
presentation will be a factor.

Until this is done, I can put them in the wiki, under a new section
'Areas of Contribution'.

Let me know, what you guys think.

On 7/27/13, Marcel Kinard cmarc...@gmail.com wrote:
+1 on getting the plugin repos listed somewhere.

I would have a slight preference for them to be on the cordova.apache.org
front page, even though that would indeed be ugly, but it would also make
them first-class citizens and available to contributors. We've got a
bazillion repos, the web page would just document that. I could be convinced
to a different representation, as long as the repos look like first-class
 citizens.

On Jul 26, 2013, at 12:04 PM, Mike Billau mike.bil...@gmail.com wrote:

I noticed earlier today that under the Fork section, it talks about how
the full list of cordova- components is listed on
cordova.apache.org(point #2). This isn't really valid any more since
we split up all of the
core plugins into their own separate repos. I haven't been able to find a
page anywhere that lists and links to all of the cordova-plugin-***
 repos.
Instead of uglifying the cordova.apache.org front page by adding links to
20 core plugins, maybe the best thing to do is just list and link to the
core plugins in the Contributor Workflow page?

Could not assign issues to myself

2013-07-25 Thread Sharif Ahmed
Today I opened 3 jira issues. I wanted to assign those issues to
myself (I wanted to fix them and get my first few commits in the bag),
but by default it was assigned to the lead of that Component :(
I couldn't change the assignee to myself.

Is it not possible for me to assign jira issues to myself, since I am
not a committer only a contributor?

Please, let me know.

Thanks.

Yes Identify Work section will be the right place to add them.

If non-committers can't make edits to the wiki, then there is nothing much
we can do about it. But, if this possible, then I would love to make the
changes, under your supervision #Filip
