Just a tiny suggestion for your next release. package-lock.json still
contains the version with the -dev suffix. If you run npm install after the
the version changes it should change automatically. You could also change
it by hand.

This does not matter for the release because the published package won't
contain the package-lock file. It's just nicer in git because you now get
any uncommited changes if you checkout the tag and run npm install.

Re: plugins release?

2018-10-31 Thread Jan Piotrowski
Julio, I would be happy to pair with you on some plugin releases.

As you already noticed, the release processes via coho need some
serious work now that we are on GitHub issues instead of JIRA, so we
have some additional work ahead of us.

First step would be to identify which plugin to start with.
(I suggest selecting just 1 and seeing that through, then continue
with more if/when we are successful).

@Oliver: What you wrote mainly applies to the platforms - the plugin
release process should be independent from that. But we will keep that
in mind of course.

2018-10-16 Thread Oliver Salzburg
I believe the issue with the pending releases is not that nobody is
performing the release task. There are still implementation details
being worked on if I'm not mistaken.

The next release will supposedly introduce several major breaking
changes, which have to be prepared for thoroughly.

So, is anybody willing to do a release? If not I can try, but last time I
tried I wasn't able to finish it because of some problem with coho.

Also, related to coho, it supposedly creates a JIRA issue, but that's not
possible anymore, so should we manually create a release issue per plugin?
Or patch coho to automatically create them? (if possible).
How are you doing it since we switched to github issues? (cc Chris as I
think you did most/all releases since then)

2018-10-13 Thread julio cesar sanchez
Today I was checking github issues and noticed that a lot of them were
supposedly fixed already, but people are reporting them again as we have
not done a release since April and they are using the latest release and
not master.

So, is anybody willing to do a release? If not I can try, but last time I
tried I wasn't able to finish it because of some problem with coho.

Also, related to coho, it supposedly creates a JIRA issue, but that's not

That's the process to invite someone, but if you have not been invited, you
can write an email to this mail list or to priv...@cordova.apache.org if
you don't want it to be public, or to some Cordova PMC you already know
telling why you want to become a committer and link previous contributions.

2018-04-17 Thread Joe Bowser
Hey

This is technically off-topic, but I commented on the PR asking for a new
PR and discussion on the list. However, without additional committers, I
don't see this happening in the short term. If people are interested in
becoming committers on this project, people should let us know on this
mailing list. We can definitely use the help.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

Re: [DISCUSS] Plugins release

2018-04-17 Thread Niklas Merz

Hello everyone,

I am watching another issue for some time and I would like to see it
going forward.

Cordova InAppBrowser WKWebview support
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-7179?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel=16160433#comment-16160433

Dave Alden did some great work and commented it, but now it seems stuck.
How can we promote the effort to get WKWebview for the IAB plugin? Or is
there no chance to get that in the official plugin?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Niklas

Also, I've updated cordova-plugin-device-motion and
cordova-plugin-device-orientation because of the same problem. Those are
deprecated plugins, but we broke them on the version that deprecated them,
so I think we should release a fixed version.

InAppBrowser had a major bump version but the cordovaDependencies have not
been updated and it will make impossible to install it from npm once it’s
published.

Should I -1 or you would remove it from the release process?

I've reviewed the PRs.

Julio, for vibration plugin, I'm thinking it gets documented as a quirk.
I'll do that and start the release now.

Re: [DISCUSS] Plugins release

2018-04-10 Thread Niklas Merz
Not a really an important one, but I would like to see my first PR to
InAppBrowser merged, so I can switch the plugin in our project back to
a released version.

I added an option to the InAppBrowser
https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-inappbrowser/pull/254.

Thanks

Re: [DISCUSS] Plugins release

2018-04-09 Thread julio cesar sanchez
I have this one removing navigator.notification from vibration plugin as it
has been deprecated for a long time and even removed from the docs
https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-vibration/pull/67.
So it might require minor or major version bump?

Also, related issue, on Android, vibration plugin uses the browser
implementation, but looks like Google doesn't allow to vibrate without user
interaction first, so we should document it or go back to the native
implementation. https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-14022.
If going back to the native implementation, then we should do it for this
release, if just documenting, probably can wait.

And I have this one for InAppBrowser plugin, was going to merge it but
travis is failing on one of the Android tests
https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-inappbrowser/pull/264

[DISCUSS] Plugins release

2018-01-15 Thread Simon MacDonald
Hey all,

I'd like to spin up a new plugins release soon. Even though the file
transfer plugin has been deprecated there is an issue with the file
dependency it uses which makes it hard for folks to upgrade other plugins
in their app. That is if they are still using file transfer they are stuck
with file plugin 5.0.0 and that prevents folks from using the latest media,
media-capture or file plugins.

As well there are some fixes in the Media plugin I'd like to get out.

What other plugins besides:

cordova-plugin-file-transfer
cordova-plugin-media

need a release?

Re: [DISCUSS] Plugins release

2017-12-28 Thread julio cesar sanchez
The RELEASENOTES.md now only contains the latest change, should I vote -1
because of that or we can fix it later?

Terence, this plugins update is just to allow them to install from npm as
there was a mistake. Your changes are on cordova-windows and not merged, so
they will be included in a future cordova-windows release if they are
merged before that. But looking at it, not sure if that will be merged as
other platforms don't allow transparent splash screens. Maybe you can send
your own mail about it so it can be discussed.

[DISCUSS] Plugins release

2017-12-27 Thread Terence M. Bandoian
Does the splash screen plugin include the Windows splash screen or is
that completely in cordova-windows? I recently submitted a pull request
(CB-13641) to support transparent splash screen backgrounds on Windows
and it would be nice to be able to get that from the official
repository. It's been reviewed but I'm not sure it's been merged.

Re: [DISCUSS] Plugins Release

send out a new vote thread just for those two.

Same, I would like to see everything pushed out before the new year. With
the break and sabbaticals (Steve on Jan, me on Feb), I would like to see
things out when there's all hands on deck.

The release train for plugins shouldn't be stopped since we do infrequent

I was going to do whichever ones were ready. Want to get them out before
the holidays. I'll review some prs for it today and aim to do a release
tomorrow.

Adobe is shutdown Dec 22 - Jan 2. I'm also going to be gone the month of
January for Sabbatical.

2017-12-14 Thread julio cesar sanchez
All of them?

I have this pending PR
<https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-statusbar/pull/91> waiting to be
merged, I was planning on doing it this weekend. It removes old iOS 6-7
code from statusbar plugin. And then I was planning on deprecating some of
StatusBar.styleLightContent, StatusBar.styleBlackTranslucent and
StatusBar.styleBlackOpaque as all 3 of them do the exact same thing now.

This one <https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-statusbar/pull/67> about
adding browser support looks interesting, but somebody with more experience
in browser platform should review it.

I was also planning on removing some code (the deprecated UIAlertView) from
dialogs plugin.

Just realized that cordova-plugin-file-transfer was never bumped. It
includes an important fix for apps. Without it new apps may be rejected
from the Play Store.

Re: [VOTE] Plugins Release

2017-09-19 Thread Simon MacDonald
I vote - 1

Passed
* Checked for deprecation notices for plugin-device-motion & orientation
* Tested that cordova-plugin-console is not added for ios when cordova-ios
>= 4.5.0
* Tested that cordova-plugin-compat is not added for android when
cordova-android >= 6.3.0

Failed
* Added cordova-plugin-camera to a project with cordova-android 6.3.0 which
depends on cordova-plugin-compat and the build fails.

The reason the build fails is that all of the cordova plugins that depend
on cordova-plugin-compat do so using a semver of ^1.0.0 or ^1.1.0. Since
compat was bumped to 2.0.0 when you install cordova-plugin-camera on your
cordova-android 6.3.0 project it fails the semver and it pulls in the 1.1.0
version. Now both compat and cordova-android deliver the same classes and
the build fails.
