Re: Quiet on the VSCode front?

2024-03-08 Thread Mike Beckerle
I figured I was just not looking. The traffic on commits email list, which
I have rolling into a side folder, shows lots of activity on the github
trackers and PRs, etc.

Thanks. I will add that v1.4.0 is in the works with lots of activity and
numerous new features.

Re: Quiet on the VSCode front?

2024-03-08 Thread Shearer, Davin
Hello Mike,

We have been keeping our project board up to date. You can check in on the
progress at any time here: https://github.com/orgs/apache/projects/259. You
can tell that we’ve been very busy adding features, updating dependencies, and
resolving issues found in previous releases. We plan on getting a new release
(v1.4.0) out as a release candidate by next month.

A few main features targeted for the next release candidate are as follows:

  * Integration of the Data Editor (replacing the basic hex viewer that was
there before) with the Debugger.
  * hover functionality to display the attributes available to specific tags
  * Added a new basic TDML GUI Editor
  *   More complete XPath validation
  * Many Data Editor GUI improvements and features
 *   Language detection
 * BOM and multiple character detection and profiling
 *   Data profiling improvements
 * Saving selected segments to file
 *   Panel display configuration
 *   …many more
  * Updated the layout of the launch wizard.
  * Added settings to launch.json for root element name and namespace to
debug schema files from a jar
  *   Upgrade to Daffodil 3.6.0

Hope it helps!

Next week our quarterly board report is due next Wednesday.

I've seen much less dev email of late from those of you who were focused on
the VSCode environment, versus say, last fall.

I realize people's ability to contribute comes and goes. I'm just wondering
if there is status or plans to report.

Right now I have no new information about the VSCode extension to report.
In December's quarterly report I only reported that the last release was in
September.

Can you please send a quick email update about the status, any planned
releases, etc.?

If this is already out there, then RTFM and a link to the mail thread is a
fine response. I've missed lots of emails over the last month or two.
