The ability to pack which is the removal of records marked as deleted, and the reindex command, which allows the user to reindex the file should it become corrupt. Both these features IMHO and based on my experience with dBase files in the good old days, are required when working with dBase records. I thought I would respond and in doing so, provide the terms which were used with dBase type products. That is pack and reindex. I think these issues are worthy of an RFE if they not already been raised. Hope this helps. Thank you all. Re: [dba-dev] purging dbase database
Hi Marc, If I had a scratch'n'sniff-GUI this would smell like an issue. ;) well, yes, I can smell it, too ... What is the correct term for this task, translated from german it would be reoganization, can I use that one? pack, as suggested by Kelvin, sounds okay to me. Not sure how it was called in StarOffice 5.x ... Re: [dba-dev] purging dbase database
Hi Marc, How can I clean up DBase file databases via API? (And how is this done from the GUI?) Uhm. Both via UI and API, the (ugly) workaround would be to copy the table under a new name, delete the old one, and rename the new one to the old name. Ugly, as said.
