Re: [ANNOUNCE] Release of Apache DeltaSpike 1.7.0

2016-06-20 Thread sebb
What is the project about? Why should I be interested in it?
(rhetorical questions)

The Announce emails are sent to people not on the developer or user lists.
Most will have no idea what the project is about.

So the e-mails should contain at least brief details of what the
product does. However the sentence:

"Apache DeltaSpike is not a CDI-container, but a portable CDI extension."

will mean nothing to most people. What does CDI mean?

Also, the description does not agree with the website, which says:

"Apache DeltaSpike is a collection of portable CDI extensions. "

But again, what does CDI mean in this context?

Readers should not have to click the link to find out the basic information
(although of course it is useful to have such links for further detail).

Please can you add that information to future announce mails?

Thanks.

There does not seem to be a download page for any releases.
Product releases must be distributed via the ASF mirror system, i.e. there
must be a download page which directs users to one of the mirrors where they
can find source (and optionally binary) archives of releases.

 Hi Sebb,

 JSPWiki's DOAP file is under
 http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jspwiki/site/doap/doap-jspwiki.rdf, with
http://projects.apache.org/projects/jspwiki.html pointing to that URL. Is
 there something we've missed?

Yes, the projects.apache.org build script has to be told about the
file location [1] in

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/infrastructure/site-tools/trunk/projects/files.xml

Summary: Releases must be distributed via the ASF mirror system
 Key: DELTASPIKE-470

 Project: DeltaSpike
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Sebb
Priority: Blocker

There does not seem to be a download page for any releases.

Product releases must be distributed via the ASF mirror system, i.e. there must
be a download page which directs users to one of the mirrors where they can
find source (and optionally binary) archives of releases.
