It is not clear if we should include provisional OSGi API since it is not officially released by the OSGi Alliance and is therefore subject to change and/or not always officially sanctioned (i.e., made publicly available by the OSGi Alliance). At a minimum, we need to define an approach to informing users if provisional API is included that it is not [yet] official OSGi API.

Software * Attempt to integrate PAX Logging into Felix has apparently been abandoned due to lack of time by those involved. * Preparing to release version 1.6.0 of Felix. * Released version 1.4.1 of Felix (includes Framework 1.4.1 and Main 1.4.1); there were several small fixes and improvements in this release, but the main focus was to release patches needed by the CXF community to support distributed services. * Released various other subprojects (e.g., iPOJO 1.2.0, Web Console 1.2.2, Remote Shell 1.0.4, Config Admin 1.0.10, Maven Bundle Plugin 2.0.0). * Checked in a testing harness for both bundles and the framework itself based on bnd (from Peter Kriens). * Added ConfigAdmin support and support for NIO for HTTPS to the HTTP Service implementation. * Committed Device Access specification implementation, which was contributed by Dennis Geurts. Licensing and other issues * None.

Community * Presented Felix at ApacheCon US. * Contributions from the CXF community for patches to Felix to support distributed OSGi features from the next OSGi specification release. * Sun released GlassFish v3 Prelude, which includes Felix. Software * Still working on incorporating the new Log Service contribution from PAX; largely delayed due to a naming issue and lack of time. * Released version 1.2.1 of Felix (includes Framework 1.2.1, Main 1.2.1) to address a performance regression. * Released version 1.2.2 of Felix (includes Framework 1.2.2, Main 1.2.2) to address a security bug. * Released version 1.4.0 of Felix (includes Framework 1.4.0, Main 1.4.0, Bundle Repository 1.2.1); this was a fairly major release including support for features from the coming OSGi R4.2 specification and many more resolved compliance issues and small bugs. * Released various other subprojects (e.g., iPOJO 1.0.0, Web Console 1.2.0, Remote Shell 1.0.2, SCR 1.0.6, Maven SCR Plugin 1.0.8, Maven Bundle Plugin 1.4.3). * Released subproject bundles are now available via an OBR repository for easy deployment into Felix (and other OSGi frameworks). * Various fixes and enhancements to HTTP Service subproject, including improved alias resolution, better cache support with inclusion of Last Modified timestamps, and publishing actual ports used as service properties. Licensing and other issues * Need to investigate licensing issue for a JMX admin console contribution.
[REPORT] Apache Felix
Apache Felix Board Report Community * Presented iPOJO at the OSGi Community Event in Berlin in June. * Added committers Edward Yakop and Makas Lau for Log Service contribution. * Received a contribution from Dieter Wimberger for a bundle that provides simple remote telnet access to the Felix shell. * Receiving web site documentation contributions from Richard Jackson; Richard has been granted karma to modify the wiki for his contributions. Software * Still working on incorporating the new Log Service contribution from PAX; largely delayed due to a naming issue and lack of time. * Release version 1.2.0 of Felix (includes Framework 1.2.0, Main 1.2.0, Shell 1.0.2, Shell TUI 1.0.2, Bundle Repository 1.2.0). This release marks the first steps toward bundle fragment support in Felix, which is one of the last major hurdles to full OSGi R4 specification compliance; however, there is still plenty of work to be done to complete this feature. * Released various other subprojects (e.g., iPOJO, UPnP, SCR, Maven SCR Plugin, Maven Bundle Plugin, File Install). * Working on creating an official bundle repository to make it easier for the community to use subprojects. Licensing and other issues * None.
