Re: Access to Apache Pony Mail
Hi Eric, If I understand correctly your problem I think you might be all set. Apache Pony mail is mostly used as an archive for emails (yes, Apache members can log in and send emails through it) but for the purpose of a KIP you don't need any account there. In case this is what you might be having troubles with, let me detail how a KIP process works step by step: - Write the KIP in the wiki - Once you are happy with the content, open a DISCUSS thread in the mailing list - This is achieved by sending an email to "dev@kafka.apache.org" and the title should follow this format: [DISCUSS] KIP-xxx: Title of the kip. - Wait some minutes and get the link from Pony mail and paste it to your KIP wiki page (it can take 5 minutes or more for Pony mail to show your email) - You hopefully get feedback on the KIP - Once the feedback is addressed or some days have passed since the DISCUSS email has been sent, you can open a vote thread - Similarly to the discuss thread, this is achieved by sending an email to " dev@kafka.apache.org" with a title like: [VOTE] KIP-xxx: Title of the kip - Wait for votes - Once you have 3 +1 binding votes (from maintainers) and 72 hours have passed (also no -1 votes) you can close the vote - You have your KIP approved Let me know if this is the type of answer you were looking for. Best,

Re: ACCESS to Apache Pony Mail
If you would like to read any historical conversation you can do so from the archive here: https://lists.apache.org/list.html?dev@kafka.apache.org As Josep said, in order to reply, you can use your own client without logging in. Hope this helps! Justine On Wed, Nov 1, 2023 at 10:01 AM Josep Prat wrote: > Hi Arpit, > > Pony Mail can be seen as the archive of the mailing list. Re: ACCESS to Apache Pony Mail
Hi Arpit, Pony Mail can be seen as the archive of the mailing list. We usually share these links because they are always accessible. That being said, if you want to reply to an email that you can only find on Pony Mail (maybe because the mail was sent before you subscribed or because you deleted the email), there is a button with a pen icon that lets you reply with your preferred mail client. Re: ACCESS to Apache Pony Mail
Hi Arpit, By committer it is meant a person with write access to an ASF project (for example Apache Kafka). Towards the end of this page you can see what needs to be done to become a committer: https://kafka.apache.org/contributing.html . Committership happens on invite basis and it's done by the merits described in the link above.
