Now it is back up.It might have most of what you are looking for, except
the information about how to build by yourself (which is not necessary).

I want to know the process of localization, for example, how to localize and
build
OpenOffice in a specified language.
I have found some documents about this, but there are different in some way, I
can not
judge which one is right.
Who can give me the latest document?

Thanks,
Weizhao

Hi,

I think we are getting such kind of queries oftenly. If you notice the reply of
this thread, all of the replys carrying different links, which itself says that
we haven't organized the documentation of our project properly. My aim is not
to point out the bad things running in this localization project of
openoffice.org, but make it a better place for localizers of Openoffice.org. We
should have some central place where all information lies.

Btw, one more issue i faced during the localization of openoffice to my native
language. I use po format for translation, which can be converted from gsi to
po using translate-toolkit tools. The actual translation go into the
Openoffice.org package is gsi file, i don't have any problem with that, but we
should have status page which can show the exact status of translation,
module-wise/file-wise, no matter however it is. So, my request to leads of this
package to take note of this & try to implement it if it's possible.

Thanks,
Ankit Patel

There is no corruption. The extra information is msgid comments (KDE
style comments) and are used for disambiguation. There are different
ways in oo2po of handling duplicate strings in a file. For more
information, see
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/duplicates_duplicatestyle
and
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/oo2po

Re: [l10n-dev] Need italian PO files

2007-04-03 Thread Petr Dudacek

Hi Enrico,

it seems that something went wrong during the sdf->po conversion. For
your case, the correct should probably be like this:

#: swslots.src#FN_CHANGE_PAGENUM.sfxslotinfo.text
msgid "Page Number"
msgstr "Numeri di pagina"

and similar for the remaining corrupted entries in the file.

The metadata information was somehow copied into the English string,
which is wrong.

The best would be to ask the one who provided you with the .po files
about this problem...

Regards,
Petr

So, i have downloaded the PO files of the italian translation.
I have a little doubt: when there is a string like this:

_: swslots.src#FN_CHANGE_PAGENUM.sfxslotinfo.text\n
Page Number

i have noticed that in the translation i have only:

Numeri pagina

The previous string is not repeated.
I thought that that string was necessary...

Thank you very much!
Enrico
