The problem here is that not even language packs seem to have been built. Anyhow, according to my records, yes the criteria of 80% UI and 80% translated Help seem to be met. then this was not known. And when the translation came in later as the statistics were created then it's indeed likely that they have more than 80% (unfortunately Galic is not to going via Pootle ;-) ). Problem is, that wJRE builds are not usefull for users in corporate / business environments. For the moment I just can tell, the we had the discussion on 3.1.1, when we did not test w/o-JRE builds (without clearly stating this beforehand). We definatley have users and project members, who would prefere Windows builds without JRE. Andrea, Java and JRE might me localized in Italian, but they are not in Slovenian and several if not most world languages. A l10n installation installs an English non-localized software etc. Is that still a fully localized build? Should not there be 100% of GUI localized? Here is the list of languages that JRE is fully localized in: Chinese (both), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Swedish. Just 9 (or 10 if you count two Chinese) languages. OOo is fully built in 31 (!) languages. I guess the French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Swedish communities might be happy with this decision, but what about other 20 communities? Let's make an offer to Sun - JRE will be packed into all OOo builds by default if and when you provide the localization for all languages that have full builds of OOo. However, that will not clear the licensing issue that might exist. The Italian team has only released with-JRE builds (for Windows) for a long time, and surely we will do this for 3.2 too. If one is fine with using Microsoft Windows then the non-free JRE is not an issue; also, it's very easy to skip the JRE installation with an "advanced installation". Still, this is an issue: a policy issue and a practical issue for those non-Windows users who prefer free software only. Also, I think every l10n community should decide what kind of build should be available, not release meeting attendees. Did anyone ask l10n leads about this? I wonder how open source communities and media that cover such sofware projects will look at this move. I vote that wJRE builds get deleted from the servers and only withoutJRE is served. That way a lot of space will be saved and every user, as you say, can download Java, if they so require. You can add a link to download page of JRE in the installtion software, at the end of installation, checks if Java is installed on the system, and if it is not, it offers a link to download the latest package if user so desires, notifying her about the benefits of having Java with JRE installed! This is not a community package anymore, it is a Java vehicle. Marcus, another thing - JRE is not localized into Slovenian nor in many other languages, unlike OpenOffice.org (I guess Sun doesn't see economic reason to do so for smaller markets). Also, Java and JRE are not opensource community driven projects and community cannot help translate them. Hi, Marcus, I personally prefer non-JRE builds as do most users here, I guess. This decision must be somehow Sun-oriented, I guess? OOo users should have this option, IMHO. Re: [l10n-dev] Please prepare for 3.2RC2 l10n binaries sanity check next week
Hi, a global role like a QATrack Administrator mustn't be set here. The QAL role fits perfectly to add and to approve files for one localization in QATrack. Sorry, Joost, I just saw now looking at every users page that we all have QAL role assigned. The fact that puzzled me is probably a bug, by clicking on a "Team" subpage the list of names has the "Global Role" column empty instead of displaying "QAL" for every lanuage user. Still, would love to hear about the detailed procedure to approve builds in QATrack, we could add that to the wiki page. To add a build in QATrack select menu item "Submit Builds" Add the URL to that build to the URI field and press the "Analyze Builds" button at the bottom of the page. This is already described at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QATrack#Submit_Builds To change the status of a build go to "View Status" menu item. Then add a version number (eg. 3.2.0) to the version field, select your language within the language selection box. Then select "Detailed View" radio button and press the button "View status" to start the query. The result of that query includes all builds submitted. You can open a status page for each build just by selecting it. Within this status page you can easily change the status to eg. Approved... Regarding l10n of 3.2, I already translated the "New Features in 3.2" page, but am also looking for the upcoming press release for 3.2 to translate. Can someone point me to the draft? It would be nice if someone informed us of availability of press release and new features draft as soon as they are available, so we can plan our work and finish in time for the release. What is the planned release date? http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoRelease32 This page has a question mark instead of the release day. Thanks, Joost! I am just wondering now looking at QATrack roles of the Slovenian team members, do we have someone among us with the proper role to confirm these builds if and when tests are successfully completed (in the Users tab I do not see any description or code of our thee users role; I guess at least one of us must be QAL, that would be bobe, and other two are QA)? Can both roles approve a build? This is not clear to me from the wiki page about QATrack, that help page describes menus and how a build is added into the system, but reporting about test results and confirming builds is not documented. I just want it all to go smooth with the RC2. Lp, m. 2010/1/11 Joost Andrae > Hi Martin, > > > please add language "Slovenian" to my name (filmsi) in QATrack, please. Hi Per, Working in QATrack If you want to be able to work in QATrack and handle builds, you need permissions for that language. Submit your request for permissions for your account to the d...@qa.openoffice.org mailing list. Adding builds You are responsible that the builds that you work with are added to QATrack. If the list is empty, use the QATrack's Submit Build tab, enter a URL to a OpenOffice.org mirror where the build can be found, and click OK. Perform this step for all the builds that you wish to work with. Don't get an response In case you don't get a repsonse from the mailing list - send it again! Re: [l10n-dev] Please prepare for 3.2RC2 l10n binaries sanity check next week
Joost, Per, Marcus, many N-L teams have delivered traslations for 3.2. Can you please make sure that we have QATrack accounts set up for all these teams? Let's make it as easy as possibles to all these teams to log into QATrack and approved the l10n release candidates / language packs. At: http://ooo.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/cws/upload/localization/localization37fix/ you can get the list of the languages. If any other team needs an account in QATrack or needs assistance on how to proceed with the final approval/release, please do let me know. The same happens with the Catalan version. Latest builds don't appear in the QATrack and we are more than willing to test them! Hello, please add language "Slovenian" to my name (filmsi) in QATrack, please. We will do sanity checks etc. for RC2 i.e. 3.2. We tried also the full tests of Slovenian RC1 as seen in QUASTe, but due to impossibility to upload updated test results the displayed number of errors there is misleading, because Vito was adapting the testcases to Slovenian + tuning his test environment along the way as he was testing. He did tests on OSX and Windows and I did sanity checks on both systems and everything looks fine for us (this is no surprise as OOo is 100% localized into Slovenian from 1.x version days, we just didn't officially test it). It is time it gets also officially released. I guess my other two colleagues from the Slovenian l10n team (bobe and smolejv) already have proper rights and Slovenian language linked to their roles? Hi, how is your OpenOffice.org login name ? Without this I cannot add you user ID to qatrack and I cannot add a role to your user ID. Kind regards, Joost suso schrieb: Hi all, Galician language team wants to proceed with RC2. Hi all, Galician language team wants to proceed with RC2. But: as QAtrack didn't work for us in previous 3.2 builds (no language assigned, no builds, no notifications...) I'm afraid that it will probably neither work for RC2. I asked for QATrack permissions at the beginning (attached mail), without answer. My closest objective is to continue providing OO.org official releases, including the 3.2 one which was translated, succesfully beta-builded and beeing tested by our community after a public testing calling. While trying to enter TCM testing -in order to provide some sistematic testing- I discovered the QATrack service. I can login in with my OO.org account, but I can't see nothing related with Galician Language there. After reading some doc [2,3] I see that I need to request permissions here, so here I am :) I'd like to say that I'm a little bit confussed with what is and what is not compulsory to produce an official release where related with QATrack. Also I feel unsure on how QATrack and TCM are related, specially in order to pass the tests of the release-sanity scenario... so any help/ info/ on that will be really appreciated. It will help me a lot finding an answer to these questions: - How are QATrack and TCM related? Or perhaps: are they independent services? - What is compulsory and what is not in order to obtain an official 3.2 at TCM/ QATrack? - I found binaries for Windows an Linux, but not for OSX/Solaris. Perhaps this is a matter of just seeking better; but, if not: might I ask to add those builds? Perhaps they will be produced after the Windows/ Linux ones? I hope to have not commited abuse of the QA Haiku! :) All the best. [l10n-dev] Please prepare for 3.2RC2 l10n binaries sanity check next week
Hi l10n QA team, The 3.2RC2 l10n binaries should be ready at the beginning of next week. Please prepare for sanity check for RC2 binaries and approve them in QATrack so that they get officially released. I believe current 3.2RC in TCM can be used for this sanity checking but if you feel more specific 3.2RC2 in TCM is useful for your team, please let me know.
