Re: SOLR-13437 Forking noggit

Oh no! As Yonik suggests, I definitely meant to email private (and I am a
member ;), and I am subscribed to dev).

My motivation was to enable the PMC to try and get some internal agreement on
handling the complexities of inter-project community relations before making
any public statements.

Mike is a member ;-)
This is also a public mailing list! (Mike probably meant to email private@)

Anyway, I haven't had as much time as I would like for open source in
general lately... I know I haven't been particularly responsive to noggit
requests, and
I wasn't even aware of SOLR-13437 until this email. I'll add my thoughts
on naming there.

Instead of "an ASF Member" here, I think you meant "a Lucene/Solr
committer" . The two are independent notions. I was once confused by
this, thinking I was an ASF Member by virtue of being a committer on a
project. I even bought an official ASF Member shirt :-P ... and
subsequently realized I was mistaken. LOL Since then I've become an ASF
Member though, so I can wear that shirt on occasion, in addition to

It's sad you aren't subscribed to the dev list. I put dev messages in its
own folder/label so it needn't overwhelm my inbox, and I check it on a
frequency that suits me, which varies.

SOLR-13437 Forking noggit

2019-05-13 Thread Mike Drob
Hey Lucene/Solr PMC,

Regarding the proposed fork in SOLR-13437, has anybody checked if the original
maintainer wants to keep noggit in his own namespace? I realize Yonik is part
of the PMC here, so he can definitely speak for himself if he wants. Explicitly
asking him in a public venue goes a long way to maintaining the ASF reputation
of friendliness to smaller open source communities and projects.

Thanks,
Mike

P.S. I am not subscribed to this list despite being an ASF Member, so please
explicitly cc me on replies if you want me to see the responses.
