Or use my trick... set up a base template, put a footer in it which reads
"Created by us9ing OpenOffice.org ", and set it as thhe
default template...:) (in mine the text is left aligned, with "Page x of y"

Cheers,

We need to change it to a font that is in OOo, now would be the time to
do it, before 2.0 comes out.

I know it might change the look of the logo, but what message do we send
if OOo is not good enough
to use for our own logo.

I suspect he is thinking of the CD inserts. You can put about seven or
eight pages stapled together and they will fit nicely.

I like that. I don't think that I can particularly claim originality in what
I wrote. The home page of OpenOffice.org says "OpenOffice.org is a free
productivity suite compatible with all major office suites."

... and I'm sure I got it from them rather than the other way round :-)

I like the inclusion of the compatiblity. I also like the use of

including in the name, it's kind of redundant.

Maybe I could change mine to

I put a similar line in the "downloads" section on a website I run late last

Hey Guy,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
hey,
is there an oppenOffice filter i can send along with my documents so
that MS users can read them? i know i can export to word, but i'd
like to let everyone know i'm using OO! ;-)
Not that I know of - it's something that has been discussed before, but
it hasn't been done. If it ever does *get* done, it will likely be with
the upcoming new file format(s) for OOo 2.0 - which will be the OASIS
backed - OpenDocument formats. They are based on the current OOo
formats - (and by format*s* I mean, Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw they
all have their own format) - but the OASIS - OpenDocument formats are a
little different.

I'd say keep exporting to MS Office compatible formats, or other more
universal formats, like RTF, PDF, or Flash, at least until OOo 2.0
(which is just a few more months) and maybe then a MSO filter for OOo
formats will spring up.

Also, if you really want to send an "open source/open formats" message,
you can always send an OOo file *with* a MSO file, and send them links
to OpenOffice.org and AbiWord (which is free, open source,
cross-platform, and OOo Writer/MS Word compatible, and *much* smaller
than OOo). With a brief explanation of what you are doing. "I thought
you might like to try a free office suite or a free word processor.
It's open source, and open format, so you won't be locked in to one
proprietary software provider." or something like that.

Or, if you want a really simple and non-bandwidth hogging way of showing
your OOo pride - just include a little signature line or something
saying "All documents contained in this email were made on
OpenOffice.org - the free, open source, open format, cross-platform
office suite, available at http://www.openoffice.org/";

Just a thought...
