Great article and every better discussion thread. The article raises a very
interesting point on the use of the OpenOffice and Open Document trademarks.

Perhaps because no-one thought to protect that intellectual property ;-)
Has anyone asked them to remove it?

If they're not related to OOo, how can they be using
the gulls bug and the wire gulls in the header on
their website?

Maybe the Apendix A from "GettingStarted Guide" can be
useful, specifically page 319 from this guide.
can I help you with some else about this topic?

thanks for the link, this looks pretty good!

We now need someone to compile the most important ones for all
applications, and maybe already doing the design for the mousepad.

'The most important' is much related to ones personal needs /habits.
But I will give it a try, and choose a mixture of important and
interesting ones.

Deadline?

I think that we should put out some sort of counter press release stating
that Open Document Foundation has nothing to do with OpenOffice.org as this
story has now been picked up by Slashdot and there may be a great deal of
confusion as to what is really going on.

Open Document Foundation is just a title. Its nothing to do with OOo and
now apparently nothing to do with odf. Its members are few in number and
they have a particular view that is not held by too many others as far
as I can tell. Sort of makes a bit of a nonsense of the their title
really. They can't be an Open Document Foundation if they don't support
the Open Document fileformat ;-) The Open Document Alliance is the
umbrella organisation supporting odf and the Open Document Fellowship is
the grass roots support group and a member of the Open Document
Alliance. OOo is a fully working implementation of odf. Open Document
Foundation is not really relevant to odf so why counter anything? IIRC
we still have an Open Document Foundation registered here in the UK but
it wasn't needed once the OD Alliance started.
