[marketing] FOSDEM: We need a T-Shirts slogan/design ...
Hi, the FOSDEM is coming soon, organization is ongoing(see http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Conferences/FOSDEM/2009) We want to produce some merchandising stuff for our booth. One thing should be a T-Shirt (available for a donation - production price + ...) The time is short for a cool image/design (probably too short take 2-3 production into account) and the costs shouldn't be too high. We have received 3 drafts but we can't use it because it's too complex for the print. We need something simpler. I think about something like this: OpenOffice.org 3 It's free It's open It's simply cool I created a pure draft (it's of course not good, the gulls are really bad) and put it on the wiki. But hey i am no designer and gimp is not my best friend (too complicate for me). But i am sure that others have better ideas and hopefully somebody can produce the final design in a more professional way. I would like to start a brainstorming discussion here to collect ideas for a nice T-Shirt. As mentioned before the time is short and we need something at the beginning of January. Please take my draft as a first start and let us collect some better ideas... [marketing] Introduction
Hello All, I wanted to introduce myself to the OpenOffice.org marketing project. I will be working at Sun until the end of April, also helping with the marketing for OpenOffice.org. And I want to use the time to work with and in behalf of the OpenOffice.org community. I am very interested in Free and Open Source Software in general and have been using OOo for years, recommending it to everybody. So I'm glad to have the opportunity now to do the same in a bigger channel. I have an idea I would like to share with you and put to discussion. I thought it would be interesting to organize a video contest for OOo. Short videos (30 secs) would show what OOo and its community are, and why the project is so special. Young artists, students and creative community members could create great material, from their different cultural perspectives. That's just a very short description, I can send yo later some detailed information about a possible organization. Let me know your thoughts on this. I am looking forward to working with you and I hope I can give you a hand here :) cheers, Rosana. -- Sun Microsystems GmbH Rosana Ardila Biela Nagelsweg 55StarOffice / OpenOffice.org 20097 Hamburg Marketing Intern Germany Phone: +49 (0)40 23 646 722 http://www.sun.de Fax: +49 (0)40 23 646 750 mailto:rosana.ard...@sun.com Sitz der Gesellschaft: Sun Microsystems GmbH, Sonnenallee 1, D-85551 Kirchheim-Heimstetten Amtsgericht Muenchen: HRB 161028 Geschaeftsfuehrer: Thomas Schroeder, Wolfgang Engels, Dr. Roland Boemer Vorsitzender des Aufsichtsrates: Martin Haering - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@marketing.openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@marketing.openoffice.org

They could use such a video for their Level 2 certificates. We might also be able to offer some small prizes for the competition. Indeed the first three can be too much for a T-shirt. Any way not easy to produce. What I would love, is something with the coloured accents from the splash screen. The coloured balls are distinctive and attractive. Your first draft, Juergen, is well, rather basic as you say. OpenOffice.org only with some visual elements, in an attractive way, can be really good. So I am not sure if extra words are needed. OTOH, one could think about Free, Cool, Open on the back, and V vo O * OpenOffice.org on the front. Re: [marketing] FOSDEM: We need a T-Shirts slogan/design ...
Erm, your probably looking at around £3-6 per shirt, depending on the design and whether you want them double sided (front and back) or not. There was an auto quote system on our website but its been taken down at the moment due to the work demand. You can get a full quote by calling (0151) 334 2300 and asking for Mike or Pete with regards to t-shirt prints. I don't work in that area so can't give you an accurate price sorry :P -- From: Juergen Schmidt juergen.schm...@sun.com Sent: Friday, December 19, 2008 6:50 PM To: dev@marketing.openoffice.org Subject: Re: [marketing] FOSDEM: We need a T-Shirts slogan/design ...
