Re: [marketing] Telefonica in Spain might be breaking up OOo's LGPL and Trademark rules

2009-06-09 Thread Agustin Gonzalez-Quel
Hello,

I am reading the page where Telefónica offers this service and they are
clearly breaking trademarks rules. For example, in the contract that they
propose to customers, these are not allowed to copy the software (is it a
property of Telefonica to prohibit software redistribution?). Also, in the
contract Telefonica does not allow to create derivate works from the
program, etc.

My personal feeling is that a cease and desist letter is appropiate.

Agustin

Hi as I comment a few months back, Telefonica, one of the biggest cell
carriers are selling OpenOffice.org for 3 Euro a month. In return they
get OOo with support, however after this post
 http://bandaancha.eu/articulo/6611/telefonica-restringe-version-openoffice

Is clear that Telefonica is not just modifying OOo but also breaking
trademark rules. They took off .org from many of the dialogues. They
also modify the installer and ask for a service key and they don't
offer the source code and explicitly prohibits redistribution witch is
a big negative for GPL OR LGPL.

It seems the code is not delegated to components but is part of the
actual build and can't be separated. I for then solicit a motion to
investigate this deeper and determine if Telefonica is indeed breaking
the license and send cease and dissist letter.

Thanks very much. The report looks very useful.

  Hello Augustin,

Good to see you translated the flyer to Spanish, apparently staring
from my translation to Dutch. Unfortunately I did not disconnect the
images, so the images are not shown in your translation either,
basically because I was not aware that they should be disconnected :-
 (
So I will attach another copy with disconnected images. On the other
hand, I am still looking how to add the original background to the
flyer, as this makes it really looking professional. I attached also
the PDF-version, so you can see, what I mean with the background.

  Best regards

2008-04-24 Thread Agustin Gonzalez-Quel
Hello Leo,

The problem is that I have sent only the .odf file. What I can do is to pack
in a zip file the same contents that I download to edit the document: fonts,
images, etc. I have also produced a .pdf file. I will upload this today and
I'll circulate the link. Then you will consider if it required to edit it
again as you propose.

I also think it may be interesting to participate, so I'd like to contribute

 Hello,

offlist, some folks were talking about the Document Freedom Day
(http://www.documentfreedom.org) that'll take place on March 26th, and
we thought it might be a great idea to join there, too. OOo was one of
the first applications, if not the first, to adapt and implement the
ODF, and it is widely seen as maybe the most important one currently
supporting it, so we definitely should join.

One first and rough idea was to present some case studies and use cases
on ODF by large deployers and make some publicity out of it.

Anyone willing to join? I'm quite busy the next weeks, but will be glad
to help out whereever I can, given that we find enough people to
 contribute. :-)

 Thanks!
 Florian

[marketing] Re: Observer role in the OpenOffice.org Marketing Project

2008-01-30 Thread Agustin Gonzalez-Quel
Hello,

I have just joined the mailing list and I'd like also to get involved
somehow in the Marketing project, I don't know exactly how I can help at
this point but we will find out the best for all parties.

I am 40 and located in Madrid, Spain (EU).

I am interested in Open Source since some years ago and involved in software
engineering since 1990 in different roles. Currently I own a small
consulting firm specialised in open source for HR (
http://www.adiante-csi.com), I also write in a blog on open source in the
RD body of regional gov. of Madrid. (
http://weblogs.madrimasd.org/softwarelibre) unfortunately this is only in
Spanish.

I have joined OpenOffice marketing project because I'd like to:
- Learn from the inside how a open source project can be promoted.
- Help OpenOffice to gain market share in the Spain area
- Qualify my company to provide our customers with support, CDs and whatever
services around OO.

What can I do? Depends on many things, but I feel comfortable with:
- Writting technical and marketing material, either in English (I suppose
there are tons of people that can do this better than me) and Spanish (maybe
this is more interesting...)
- Providing help and guidance for Spain based users
- Carry out presentations, conferences, seminars in Spain. Particularly in
Madrid area
- Help to maintain the spanish web site.

So, this is more or less. I hope we can work and learn together around
this mailing list.

2008/1/30, Florian Effenberger [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

 Hello,

you recently applied for the 'Observer' status in the OpenOffice.org
 Marketing Project, http://marketing.openoffice.org

 ...

We would like to ask you to introduce yourself to our community, so
other people know who you are and what part you want to take. It also
helps you, because you get used to the way we work.
