Hi all,

bits.netbeans.org/maven2 is down, which I don't know is because of
something on the Oracle side or something on the Apache side -- can someone
(Eric? Laszlo?) help to get an understanding of how to debug this?

Uff, I didn't mean NetBeans is low priority. Just the few virtual
machines that Oracle still hosts seem to be low priority.

(Because otherwise I would expect some uptime monitoring. hg was down
a while back, plugins yesterday. Somebody should be already working on
it by the time user emails start coming it. There's also no public
status page. Not saying this to criticise, but I imagine that big
companies selling Cloud stuff roll out this kind of telemetry
everywhere.)

Yeah, it's just not true that NetBeans is low priority, it's used all over
Oracle. Anyway, tired of continually making that point -- the key point in
matters like this is that it's hard to track down who is responsible for
what at any given moment, and where they are, and so on. It would be great
to have a plugin portal that reads off Maven Central co-ordinates and
that's something we're working on in Oracle and will be making available to
Apache when it's in a stable state -- it would be great to have
instructions for anyone wanting to publish their NBMs on Maven Central,
since that's where the NBMs will be found by the new plugin portal. Anyone
willing to put those instructions together would be doing a great thing, I
don't know much about Maven Central and would be doing this otherwise.

I expect that the NetBeans stuff is quite low priority at Oracle. Any
priority server should have triggered various notifications about
being down.

This is a key reason why those of us working in Oracle on NetBeans are
happy about the transition to Apache -- in Apache everything is transparent
(or should be) and the lines between people are clear. I.e., there's an
Apache Infra organization that is stable and reliable etc. In large
enterprises like Oracle, everything is different: when something "goes
down" somewhere, there could be dozens of different reasons and the
person/persons responsible could be anyone from the newest intern to Larry
Ellison himself.

Thanks for not deleting javaee.wildfly

Hello,

I see that initially javaee.wildfly was just removed from
cluster.properties but it was still in place. It was easy to re-add.

Now it has been moved to contrib. This is still OK as at least the
code is in the repository.

We should probably do the same for beansbinding and some other modules
that got removed originally due to touching GPL code... Having them in
contrib/ is better then having them in random GitHub projects.

No, I think what I'm talking about is the Nashorn parser, not the
Graal.JS parser? Will have to double-check but I remember the license
was OK but nobody was building and packing it properly for the
NetBeans build system to include it nicely.

1: There are several unittest just failing because they are broken in
   one way or another. This is noice for our use case and should be
   removed
2: The Oracle.JS parser changed in an incompatible way. The netbeans
   integration has to be adjusted accordingly. Some changes are 
   trivial, but many require more deep inside into the generated
   parse tree.

So at this point we rely on the GPLv2-CPE licensed parser.

Yes thanks for bringing this up. And if some NB Platform App has a
dependency to it, it's even more annoying.
Especially when installer comes into play. Maybe these additional
dependencies could be all downloaded as a part of installation procedure.
