12.5 Beta 1 appears to be pretty awesome.

I even have it running successfully
on zulu17.0.75-ea-jdk17.0.0-ea.33-macosx_x64.

OK, I did not understand why you mentioned a voting candidate in 48
hrs?  Normal time between freeze / beta 1 and release vote is 3-4
weeks.

We had a voted beta with 12.4 so that links could be shared more
widely - not that quality was high enough to be full release.  We
don't need to do that.  Just didn't understand mention of voting
candidate.

No sure it was decided. It can be done of course.

I cannot formulate the following very well in english:
Just a "not positive view". PMC vote matter, meaning if they say +1 to beta 
release, it have enough quality (according to the PMC) that we may have used  
the +1 to a full release "instead". 
Danger of neglegting the community feedback if PMC saw nothing wrong.
