We're OK. Build went through eventually. Just waiting on svn commit
and I'll post a vote thread.

Seems to be a massive amount of backlog in Jenkins at the moment,
coupled with first build attempt triggering an Xfvb error (again!).

If this doesn't sort itself out in the next few hours, I'll rethink
just renaming the beta build for the vote.

Any issues with having the same build number for beta4 and release
with any of the dependent tasks - snap, installers, etc.?

Yes, agreed -- clearly we need to be very disciplined with this release
structure. But I think we did it the right way, i.e., we should have a very
clear schedule, as we do know, but we should be flexible with it, as we
have been -- and so long as we release by the end of the month, which seems
very doable right now, we've proved it is workable.

I'm planning on documenting a few thoughts as we all review the new
release process, and that's already a top one from my point of view.
There was very little different in vc1, but it fixed a bug enabling
Payara Micro which led to this problem.

Also interesting to think that we'll be about a week behind, and we
let some things slip feature freeze by a week which are actually the
things that have ended up causing that delay. Personally, I think
that's been worth doing, but it does bring up the importance of trying
to commit things early in any merge window. We should be wary of big
things landing late on.

Yes, just making the point that when I wrote that I wrote it as an
internal proposal. I wasn't thinking it would be linked in from
elsewhere. I think it may need to be written up slightly differently
for that purpose at some point, that's all. I'd rather put less

I think we should not add any new code to a vc, that's where things went
wrong with vc1. It would be a cool thing to strive for: no new code in a
voting candidate.

Sure, it's just that we've been getting questions on Twitter with people
pointing to the July 15 date. Either we state that we release on that date
(as currently stated) or we say something different there. I think it's a
good sign people are saying 'hey, where's NetBeans' and I think it's also
fine to slip a bit from the date we specify, though that change simply
indicates that. The point is, what does that 15 July date mean -- to me, it
means that's the planned date of the official release of 11.1.

Dear all,

I've spent the weekend driving between California and Oregon and fixing
our production issues, so catching up now.
I've just pressed the button on the Snap build it will be available in
an hour. You might to force the refresh to get it.

sudo snap refresh netbeans

Also I'd like to encourage you to test the source distribution, try to
build it, start it with and without an empty user dir. Snaps are really
convenient, but that's not our official release.

@Neil you can push that button as well:
https://builds.apache.org/job/netbeans-snap-release/ the only parameter
to the build is the number of the release build. Which is as of now: 426

Unfortunately not that I know of. For the last few releases we've linked
betas directly from the build server.

Did you try vc1? And did that download quicker? As far as I know, the
dist/dev server isn't mirrored either, but if it's quicker we may need to
consider using it for betas again in future. Unfortunately that will add
some work to producing betas.

Re: Apache NetBeans 11.1-beta4 Is Available for Testing!

2019-07-14 Thread Jack Woehr
In 11.1 rc 4 on Ubuntu 18.04.2 my PHP project wants to "Resolve
Problems..." which then pops up:

*Would also need to enable
StandardModule:org.netbeans.modules.web.client.samples jarFile:
/usr/local/netbeans/webcommon/modules/org-netbeans-modules-web-client-samples.jar*

I have wandered around the PHP tab in Options without finding anything like
this. How do I enable? Not exactly a helpful or user-friendly message!

Also, the requester on right-click offers "copy to clipboard" but when I
try to copy and paste the message using that feature, it pastes the words
"text/hmtl".

I cannot resolve the problems and cannot open the project. In previous
NetBeans versions, the project would open whether problems were resolved or
not.

This is a regression in usability from my point of view.
