 Error 65280 is very generic, you should provide the last few dozens
 lines of output, here or on pastebin.com or similar site.

There is an earlier extension to do this at
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/Alba
but I understand it has been rendered inoperable by later code changes in
OpenOffice.

Its code may give you some useful hints.

How do you propose to cope with the style changes such an orientation change
will involve?

Re: Logo next steps

2013-06-10 Thread Kevin Grignon
I propose we take a final pass to prepare the logo for production.

The vector artwork should be converted curves, the "ff" elements need to be
combined, and some font kerning adjusted.

Then we should document the logo on the AOO UX wiki.

Who is preparing all the new graphics?

Orientation page - Writer

2013-06-10 Thread Henry Tiquet Leyva
Hello everyone,
I would like begin to modify the AOO code and I think to begin with the
page orientation (Writer).
The idea is to create a button on the toolbar for change the page
orientation with a click.

I would like to know what code manipulates the orientation page in Writer.

[DISCUSS] a new web area for Apache OpenOffice third party products

2013-06-10 Thread Kay Schenk
We used to have the old Distribution project that for the most part has
been revised to a very minimal presence...
http://www.openoffice.org/distribution/

Recently, there seems to be a renewed interest in posting information
about new and former Apache OpenOffice distribution outlets -- notably
CD/DVD sets. And old page containing CD/DVD vendors still exists but is
not linked in any place. Since /distribution/cdrom/sellers.html is
redirected because of changes to this area, you can see and download the
old page from svn:

http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/distribution/cdrom/sellers.html?view=log

Are we interested in reviving this listing, or something similar to it?
Pros...Cons, etc.

A new listing would not have to be by region as this old one is. Given
update issues in the past, if we provided a new listing page, we would
likely need disclaimers regarding: accuracy, support, relation to Apache
OpenOffice(this project), etc.

As with all our web pages, we could accept additions though the CMS from
non-commtters.

svx
need(s) to be rebuilt

Reason(s):

ERROR: error 65280 occurred while making /home/Guillermo/aoo/main/svx/prj

When you have fixed the errors in that module you can resume the build by
running:

build --all:svx

I just submitted a VERY quick mockup on the main website index page to

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/download/attachments/30752760/Apache+OpenOffice+-+The+Free+and+Open+Productivity+Suite.jpe

if anyone wants to see how things are playing out so far.

I went a bit too far with resizing so the logo size on this is actually 299
x 136 (I meant to stop at 300w).

Only the png logo has been checked into staging and nothing else.
Due to the way things get rendered with one branding area, only local setup
can be used for show-and-tell I think.

Top cropping (for realignment) obviously needs to be done but what else?

If you really want to try a monster test case, try the spreadsheets
from this old ZDNet article from 2005:

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/ou/performance-analysis-of-openoffice-and-ms-office/120

They are in pre-ODF XML formats, but can easily be converted. Try it
as DOC and as ODS.

The files themselves look quite reasonable, due to the ZIP
compression. But then try unzipping the file. You'll see the
content.xml is much, much larger.

The problem we have with large ODF spreadsheets is our cell-by-cell
table markup is very verbose. We also lack a "string-pool" structure
in the markup to deal with repeated strings, which are common in
database-like uses of a spreadsheet.

I can understand you it is of course annoying but we gave a baseline and to
support as much as possible OS versions. But with the 64bit support it will be
easier in the future.

You are welcome to join AOO and maybe you are interested to improve the
configuration of the build env as one of your first tasks. Herbert can give you
more details on the 64bit work he is doing when he is back from vacation.
There is still some work necessary to support the old 32bit based env (for
backward compatibility) and the new 64bit env.

Re: Building openoffice on Mac OSX

2013-06-10 Thread mehdi soleimani
Thank you Juergen for your thorough answer. My OS version is 10.8.2 and Xcode
4.6. I have both 10.4 and 10.5 SDKs and by default scripts tried to use 10.4.

To be honest I am kind of disappointed. I've wanted to start contributing to an
open source project and AOO seems like a very good one.

I read somewhere that people successfully had built AOO using Xcode 3. Maybe I
give it a try! :)

Where in the SVN tree can I find the images used for these three areas
of OpenOffice where the logo is displayed:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO4+-+Application+And+Launcher

We're trying to determine the dimensions and formats needed for the
updated logo.

I found this page which lists the various image sizes used by social networks:

http://www.lunametrics.com/blog/2012/11/12/final-social-media-sizing-cheat-sheet/

It is more complicated than I realized. We'll probably want to target
a specific bitmap rendering for each site, to have optimal quality.

We can also do more than just a profile image, if we want, on some
site. For example, on Twitter we can have a 520x260 "Header Image" in
addition to the smaller profile photo. That would look them like
this:

https://twitter.com/dickc

Facebook and Google+ have similar things, if we want to do more than
just the profile photo.

Yes, the extension SyntaxHighlight GeSHi, see
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Syntaxhighlight and
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Help:SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi

For XML I have used for example

I don't know, whether all languages mentioned in

are actual supported in our Wiki.

Hi,

on which operating system version are you working and which XCode
version and platform SDK version are you using?

Currently the pre-requirements are not easy to fulfill , especially when
you are on a newer system. But we are working on a upgrade and move to
XCode 4 and a newer platform SDK which will make building AOO on MAC
much easier.

I am building with some kind of hand made env on MacOs 10.7, XCode 3 and
the 10.4 platform SDK. Because it was not easy to install the older SDK
and XCode3 on this system.

Make sure that you up-to-date with your local copy and use the switch
--without-stlport. We dropped the stlport and use now the boost stl
containers on Unix based systems. We are planning to switch to the
compiler stl asap but for now we use the boost stl. More details can
Herbert explain when he is back from vacation.

Let me know if this helps...

Building openoffice on Mac OSX

2013-06-10 Thread mehdi soleimani
Hi,

I've started to build aoo in Mac but after spending a whole day of trying to
overcome the problems I gave up! :)

I use GNU gcc 4. First I used this command to configure :

./configure --enable-ccache-skip
--with-epm-url=http://www.msweet.org/files/project2/epm-3.7-source.tar.gz
--disable-gtk

using this command and GNU gcc4 arises an error when configuring:

checking if hash_map will be in __gnu_cxx namespace... configure: error: Can't
find hash_map. Try with --with-stlport

I believe hash_map libraries are ok when using gcc4.2. To solve this issue I've
added --with-stlport and configure script did finish. Later in building phase (
build --all) it stops stating that --with-stlport=yes is not supported on Mac
OS X. I even added --with-stlport=no as building option but this time it stops
stating that solenv module needs to be rebuilt.

I tried to build solenv alone and building finishes without error. Is there any
thing that I'm missing? Any suggestion?

[RELEASE]: translation reminder

2013-06-10 Thread Jürgen Schmidt
Hi,

I just want to remind you about the upcoming release and the translation
update that should be done until June 18th (latest).

We have several languages that are close to be finished at least for the
UI translation.

Arabic -> 7648 words needs review/translation
Asturian -> 2953 words needs review/translation
Basque -> 5161 words needs review/translation
Catalan -> 5274 words needs review/translation
Chinese -> 5378 words needs review/translation
Chinese (Taiwan) -> 4391 words needs review/translation
Czech -> 3798 words needs review/translation
Danish -> 7319 words needs review/translation
Finnish -> only 794 words needs review/translation
Galician -> 4691 words needs review/translation
German -> 3906 words needs review/translation
Greek -> 7762 words needs review/translation
Hebrew -> 10907 words needs review/translation
Indonesian -> 5529 words needs review/translation
Italian -> only 231 words needs review/translation
Japanese -> 5122 words needs review/translation
Khmer -> 4987 words needs review/translation
Lithuanian -> 13666 words needs review/translation
Norwegian Bokmal -> 5122 words needs review/translation
Polish -> 4119 words needs review/translation
Portuguese -> 8165 words needs review/translation
Scottish Gaelic -> only 159 words needs review/translation
Slovenian -> 853 words needs review/translation
Swedish -> 5122 words needs review/translation
Tamil -> 3870 words needs review/translation
Turkish -> 9105 words needs review/translation

some more work necessary for
Thai -> 22965 words needs review/translation
and even more for
Persian -> 55680

But the review of the moved stuff can be done quite quickly if there was
already a translation in place.

I would be happy to release as many languages as possible.

If you know other people who might be interested to help or if you have
connections to schools, universities where native languages are key or
where native language support is important, feel free to invite them to
participate. The more people help and review the translations the better
the result will be.

I'll try it.

In the meantime I had tried --without-stlport. But first try was hanging
totally and in second try I run into the break in extension..ole, that
Ariel has mentioned in the issue.

Currently, AOO can not be built with MSVC 2010 or 2012 - MSVC 2008 is
needed.
Thus, please install "Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET
Framework 3.5 SP1", found at [1]. It contains the needed MSVC compiler
from the Visual Studio 2008 series. In general you have afterwards the
following installation folders on your Windows 7:

- ../Program Files/Microsoft SDKs/Windows/v7.0/
- ../Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0/
The help the configure processor to find the correct compiler SDK please
use the following configure options:
--with-midl-path="/cygdrive/c/Program Files/Microsoft
SDKs/Windows/v7.0/Bin" \

--with-frame-home="/cygdrive/c/Program Files/Microsoft SDKs/Windows/v7.0" \
--with-psdk-home="/cygdrive/c/Program Files/Microsoft SDKs/Windows/v7.0" \
The stuff from ../Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0/
should be found automatically.

You can continue to Visual Studio 2012 for your debugging of the built
AOO code.

Whatever shell/interpreter you are using, it seems that, as Juergen

E-mail breaks it, but it seems that: you don't have a \ to terminate the
dmake configuration option and tell the interpreter that the command
continues on the next line; the dmake URL is on another line; the EPM
URL is outdated.

If you copied the EPM URL from a wiki page, please fix it on the wiki
page. Or at least give us the link so that we can fix it.

And try changing that section as follows (unless someone else with more
experience than me in enjoying Windows builds steps in):
...

--with-dmake-url=http://dmake.**apache-extras.org.codespot.**

I have no line --with-epm-url at all.

Re: Draw, make some changes to gradients

Hi Armin,

I reported the bugs to the LO bugzilla. After finding out that AOO
sarted the svg import stuff and LO adopted/is adopting it I started to

Ah, I see. Just curious; how did you find out, it's not really
advertized that they use our code...?

So the current bugs I found are somewhere here:
https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?component=Drawing&product=LibreOffice&query_format=advanced&resolution=---&order=bug_id%20DESC&query_based_on=
starting at 64457 and ending at about 64550 (so somewhere in between
this to bug IDs I think)

I cannot work on LO tasks, please consider to commit these in AOO, too.
Of course after having a look which still exist, I aloready fixed some,
working together with another guy who also found out who really is
behind SVG import and did it...
Did you read
(https://blogs.apache.org/OOo/entry/good_news_libreoffice_is_integrating),
btw...?

There is an interactive gradient edit mode, have you seen it? It's
a little bit hidden...

Thanks for the hint will look at this one.
Because I thought that the old gradient stuff can be also done in the
svg way I thought of replacing the old gradient with
the new one. For example the Border value could be also done with the
hight and width of the gradient in the svg way (at least that's what I
thought). But if that's not possible I guess we would have to have
Gradient and SVGGradient (was thinking like Gradient + SVGGradient ==
newawesomeAOOgradient).

Something like that. OTOH you made me start again thinking about if it's
possible somehoy, baybe together with the possible UserTransformation
(problem is the non-linear (irregular) form of the Ellipsoid and
Rectangular ones, another problem is that you can select the number of
steps in AOO, say just eight and get useful nice effects.)

Sincerely,
Armin

On 07.06.2013 at 10:16 AM, "Armin Le Grand" wrote:Hi bugreporter99,

I see no changes to the old gradient sizes; that's because these are
historically grown and should not be touched at all. They do not have
own pos/size or whatever attributes, they are just using the area they

are set at. Historically (a lot has changed since then, but to make
clear why it is as it is):

- The area wich is maximally covered (and needs to be painted) is
calculated in pixels (no double precision)
- This leads to a boundrect
- The to be filled geometry is set as mask
- Number of steps (as Integer) is calculated
- For left/R/T/B an integer add is calculyted to shrink that rect
(radial: same, ellipse: different)
- In a loop for n steps the rectangle is shrunk by these values, but
there were 'if's to not let it overlap itself
- The rectangle is filled with a calculated color with rect or ellipse

This cannot even be direclty mapped to a transformation (mix of
local/discrete coordinate system) and depends on object rotation (!).
It
was a lot of work to get this mapped to transformations to 'emulate'
it
in primitive rendering at all (argh), but it works now. Today a
primitive is used, all is in double precision. Still, the basic
principle from the older days has to be used (the boundrect in world
coordinates) to make it look the same, you do not want older loaded
files to look diffeent, do you?

BTW: There is an interactive gradient edit mode, have you seen it?
It's
a little bit hidden. Open draw, create a shape with gradient, in the
drawing toolber (normally at the bottom) there is a 'effects' DropDown

(normally on rotation). Drop it down (or undock it), there are more
interesting functions there...

For the SVG gradients we will have better/changed UI; I am thinking
about a dialog form and also interactive support if possible.
Suggestions welcome ;-)
E.G.: Have it as a new fill mode (then two: Gradient and SVGGradient)
or
as one? One means to change the UI i nthe dialog on gradient selection

change, also need a method to determine what kind of gradient to
create
newly (old ones still need to be creatable). And and and...

HTH!

Hi,

what do you think about the way the size of the gradient should be

set

(in the future)?
I came up with 4 ways:
1. Edit-Box for width and height
 width/height is set in percentage
2. Edit-Box for width and height
 width/height is set absolute (mm,cm,inch,...)
3. Edit-Box for width and height
 width/height is set as a dot seperated value
  -> 1.0 would be the same width/height as parent width/height
4. NO Edit-Box for width and hight
 handles on the gradient(on canvas) are used to change the size

(the Edit Boxes can be seen in my mockup I sent in the first mail)
 http://temp-share.com/show/f3Ygit6Xn

My opinion
1.
 cause the size of the gradient can be bigger then the parent's
 the value would become bigger than 100% ->weird
2.
 if the size is changed and one want to set it to the parent's

size
