[RELEASE]: proposal for AOO 4.1.1 schedule
Hi, I have reviewed the issues that we have so far for AOO 4.1.1, the translation deadline and updates we have, the testing activities etc. and I propose the following schedule for our upcoming AOO 4.1.1 bugfix release. July 8th, milestone build m2 July 18th, translation deadline July 23th, milestone build m3 August 1th, RC1 - depending on feedback etc. further RC candidates on demand August 26th GA (or earlier, depending on feedback and QA outcome) One of the biggest problems is the upload speed and I calculate at the moment with ~3 days. [REQUEST] help needed on newly submitted issues
Hi, in order to assure that we address the serious defects in our planned 4.1.1 release I would like to request help on newly submitted issues. My issue query for issues which had been submitted since our 4.1.0 release and which are not solved contain more than 200 issues. Most of them are in status unconfirmed and several of them have subjects which indicate that they are critical. In order to support the developers it would be really great, if these issues could be reviewed: - check, if the issue can be reproduced -- status confirmed -- if not reproducible, ask for more information -- keyword needmoreinfo - check, if the issue is a duplicate -- resolve as duplicate - check, if the issue is a regression to a recent release - e.g. no defect in 4.0.0 or/and 4.0.1, but not in 4.1.0 -- adjust version field - give attention to issues which seem to be serious enough to be considered for the next release. Hi Doug, On 30.06.2014 16:34, Douglas Mencken wrote: I'm here to ask you: why you decided to drop 10.6 support? Rob already pointed out the discussion thread where this lead to the decision to support only newer versions of MacOSX. Is it not so hard to keep it running, isn't it? This depends on human resources available for the MacOSX platform. By the way, I'm LO guy, so see my patches, for example: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=core.git;a=commitdiff;h=47b520024a236eac8807a33630f493a00fc5f243 https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=core.git;a=commitdiff;h=a2ee38ef7afcec27f46530bf9e177939e38cc815 Would it be possible for you to check your patches on the AOO code as well? If it works on AOO and you also submit a patch for AOO with the AL 2.0 license, it could be applied for AOO and if so, would then be used by LO implicitly as long as LO is based on the AOO code and refreshes its code base with the AOO code. Why is it so hard for you to support even 10.6 (no to say 10.5@powerpc)? WHY? Because in AOO land there are not enough people who have the necessary knowledge and/or infrastructure (10.6) to keep up the support for 10.6 in a reliable (tested) manner. Again, I know corporate guys are unable to read completely (unless it's claimed by boss from high) — WHY? I am not a corporate guy at all, but I have been around here for quite some time (years) by now, and cannot remember one incidence of read-unability or any boss from 'high' by corporate guys. ASF is a great place for any kind of guys and girls, corporate or private! --- Assuming that you have the skills and infrastructures to keep up MacOSX support for earlier versions (in a tested manner), would you be interested/willing to help out in this area w.r.t. AOO? Possibly the only difference for you would be to release your patches under two licenses, the AL 2.0 license (only then can ASF include code donations) and the LO license. (Please note, that LO is able to use all of AOO source code due to the AL 2.0 license. Unfortunately, the LO-license inhibits ASF to apply the LO-patches. Therefore the authors of LO patches would need to add the AL license to their patches/code in order for AOO being able to use it at all! An author can put his code under any number of licenses in parallel.) Of course the download webpage is now served perfectly. Please help to submit translated main page for traditional Chinese (zh-tw) and update for download page ( a typo were fixed and some fine tune for translation) I've committed the attached JS file. Please note that this is only for the download webpage. BTW: I've no idea how big the language difference is but the other website (simplified Chinese) [1] needs also some attention. If you are able to help here also that would be great. Marcus We had most languages reviewed and fixed within 24 hours on the l10n list. This is quite impressive. Having placeholders helped a lot. Still, those where we still have unreviewed Google translations in a few days should maybe be changed back to English, to avoid the scam site effect (machine translation) and avoid the risk to confuse visitors about the fact that this is the official download site. Especialyl every page with non-latin characters is difficult to manage if you don't have the skills for understandling at least a bit. So, I tend to agree. Minor dictionary error.
When someone has time, please add the word 'matchup' (as in matchup between two teams) to the dictionary. I live in Cordova, TN and the dictionary doesn't like Cordova. I checked Google, and we are not the only one. However, since I can always add it to the local dictionary, that is too minor to worry about. Howard Morris

Re: Test Schedule - AOO 4.1.1 Test Starts! Call for volunteers!
Hi Alexandro, I have assigned you 11 test cases on Linux Redhat 32bit in Testlink as the first batch. You can find them in Test Case Assigned to Me. Please report issues in Bugzilla and warn for severe ones in QA mailing list ( q...@openoffice.apache.org). Please let me know when you are done. Thanks again for your support to AOO testing! To: qa q...@openoffice.apache.org Cc: dev dev@openoffice.apache.org Hi All, As Juergen announced, the first milestone build (m1) for AOO 4.1.1 is currently uploading. Then here comes the call for volunteers on AOO 4.1.1 testing. If you have interest and can help over the next few weeks, on Linux Redhat 64bit, Linux Ubuntu 64bit, Mac 10.9, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Window 2012, please send a note to the QA mailing list (q...@openoffice.apache.org ). If you have a Testlink account[1] send your ID as well as what platform you can help test(if you haven't a Testlink account, you can register one). You should also get installation sets from [2] and report issues in Bugzilla [3]. You may want to refer Test Plan in [4]. The milestone (m1) build is based on the AOO410 branch on revision 1603804. The fixed issue compared to AOO 4.1 can be found under [1] and the binaries can be found under [2] (when the upload is finished). The upload is ongoing and I expect it will be finished tonight or tomorrow, yes we still have a bottleneck here. But anyway no pressure at the moment but I invite all volunteers to give it a try as early as possible and provide feedback. Next week we will define in more detail the release schedule and I hope that we can address the most important and serious problems we have currently.
