please note that this is the mailing for the developers of OpenOffice.
For your user-oriented question please see the users mailing list [1].

How to rotate a text box:

- Select the text box, so that you have the cyan colored handles
  around it
- Click the right mouse button on the box and select "Position and Size"
- In the upcoming dialog choose the tab "Rotation"
- You have to play a bit with the "Rotation angle" settings depending
  on what you want

In Writer it's not possible to rotate an inserted picture. But you can
insert it in a Draw document and copy the rotated picture back into the
Writer doc.

Is there a way to rotate as opposed to flip a picture or text box using
openoffice write? Looking to rotate these frames 90 degrees.

Thanks

2017-12-18 Thread Pedro Lino

Hi Andrea, all

P.S. I can volunteer to kick off a similar list of the available AOO
languages (and links to the extensions) if the devs agree that it makes
sense to link to such a page.

At least a collection of links to Dictionaries that are not marked as
such would be useful, thanks!

Maybe my message was not so clear. My offer was to kick a user friendly
landing page like the one from Mozilla.

Checking the tags is probably easier for someone with DB access. In fact
there is a HUGE discrepancy in the results. If you look for the tag
"dictionary" it reports 99 entries. However if you type dictionary in
the Search box you will see the number 136 (which I assume are the
matching entries) but clicking on the Search button will return 159
results...

Pedro

copy something and then open the menu "Edit - Paste Special" in
OpenOffice. In the upcoming dialog you can see the different formats
that are offered.

Maybe it's just 1 big format (e.g., ODT) and the others are just derived
sub-parts from the big one.

Otherwise a look into the code is necessary.

My 2ct.

However searching for the words spelling or dictionaries returns many
more results than the Dictionaries button (for instance none of the
Portuguese tools show up when clicking Dictionaries)
This means that the search key is not working as expected (maybe not all
extensions have the needed tag?)

When you create an extension, you have a "This is a dictionary" checkbox
that will likely file it as a dictionary for the search above.

Should I open a Bugzilla issue about this?

This is something that the individual maintainers should do. But maybe
site moderators can set the flag on any extensions, so a list would be
useful.
