Fwd: Travel Assistance applications open. Please inform your communities

2018-02-18 Thread Peter kovacs
Hello all,
Sorry for the delay.
I forward to a message received from TAC:

The Travel Assistance Committee (TAC) are pleased to announce that travel
assistance applications for ApacheCon NA 2018 are now open!

We will be supporting ApacheCon NA Montreal, Canada on 24th - 29th September
2018

TAC exists to help those that would like to attend ApacheCon events, but are
unable to do so for financial reasons.
For more info on this years applications and qualifying criteria, please visit
the TAC website at < http://www.apache.org/travel/
 >. Applications are now open and will close 1st
May.

Important: Applications close on May 1st, 2018. Applicants have until the
closing date above to submit their applications (which should contain as much
supporting material as required to efficiently and accurately process their
request), this will enable TAC to announce successful awards shortly
afterwards.

As usual, TAC expects to deal with a range of applications from a diverse range
of backgrounds. We therefore encourage (as always) anyone thinking about
sending in an application to do so ASAP.
We look forward to greeting many of you in Montreal

Kind Regards,
Gavin - (On behalf of the Travel Assistance Committee)

Openoffice and unsupported gstreamer 0.10 branch (for openoffice libavmediagst.so library)

2018-02-18 Thread Torokhov Sergey
Hello, all.

Currently the OpenOffice uses internal "libavmediagst.so" library that compiled
with GStreamer 0.10 version
that is unsupported since 2012. This library is used for gstreamer support in
Linux to play multimedia content in presentation
of Impress component.

Is it planning to migrate for "libavmediagst.so" library to GStreamer 1.0
branch in new OpenOffice releases?
Especially it's interesting concerns being prepared OpenOffice 4.2.0. Or maybe
is it possible to
rebuild it with GStreamer 1.0 for 4.1.6 release if it's planning?

Or is it possible to release in addition an official OpenOffice
"libavmediagst.so" library compiled with GStreamer 1.0
that could be downloaded separately to replace current "libavmediagst.so"
library

Re: download of AOO

2018-02-18 Thread Pedro Lino
Maybe that is a UCBrowser problem or a temporary slow access to Sourceforge
(the link in your report works perfectly at my end)

In any case you can always download directly from Apache's server

http://archive.apache.org/dist/openoffice/4.1.5/binaries/ru/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.5_Win_x86_install_ru.exe

Hope this helps.

The error message is "The page you are trying to view cannot be shown

An invalid https cert, perhaps?

templates and extensions are hosted at SourceForge.net. They are managing
the downloads. Currently they are doing some technical maintenance:

Hi All,

Just wanted to make you aware of the change to 3 of your buildbot builds so have
forwarded you the commit diff below.

Basically, 3 of your long running builds tat are taking 9 or 10 hours to
complete, are spending
6 or 7 hours of that time uploading tar.gz files and zips as snapshot builds.
However , they are
then all being deleted the very next day and built and uploaded all over again.

This is not great use of our hardware and bandwidth. Therefore I have inserted
'onlyIfChanged=True’
into those 3 builds so they will only build (and upload and delete) when there
has been a change in the
code since the last build. This makes much more sense.

Indeed!

I was not aware of such helpful switches. There may be many more, can
you recommend a documentation for the buildbots?

Best page I can recommend for our installation versions is :-

http://docs.buildbot.net/0.8.9/full.html

What I would like to do in the near future is to unify the names of our
buildbots and make the names more generic, e.g.:

aoo-windows32-branch
aoo-windows32-trunk
aoo-linux32-branch
aoo-linux32-trunk
…

Makes sense, but please note that changing builder names loses all history for
a build as it
starts again from build number 0. So if doing it, make sure its one to stick
around for a while.

Until now I only managed to change the branch from 414 to 415.

Matthias

Log:
Changed 3 schedulers to only build when scheduled
and only if the code has changed since the last build.

Some of these builds are taking 3 hours to perform, then
they are taking 7+ hours to upload 2.5GB worth of various
tar.gz files -- only to delete all of it the next day and
do it all over again!

This is not good use of CI hardware or our bandwidth. So
it makes sense to only build these at the scheduled time
only if some part of the code has changed.

Re: [proposal] going Agile

2018-02-18 Thread Peter Kovacs
After some thinking, I think this is not easy to answer without more
clarification.

So I have updated the List I have once started (Now called Points of
Interest). Added the going Agile topic, and will clarify the Point.

So no one has to read this discussion in order to get the picture.

The List contains more points. That are points I think they are
interesting to look into, my top points have my name behind them.

If anyone wants to add points or clarify points, please feel free to
edit / extend with sub pages.

I have added my name behind the points I put currently focus on.

Describing what we have to do.
Then distribute the cases and implement it. I try to ask people on

recruitment if they are willing to join.

Maybe this is a good example to try this approach out.

I don't think it is a good example, because it is a long term,
open-ended project.

It would be better to pick something that can be expected to be
completed within a reasonable demonstration period.
