To my honest opinion the template website is one big mess, over 23 
thousand templates

from which many are menu cards, price lists and store locators.
I believe Google is the place to find this type of information.
Templates should be templates and not an alternative to advertise products.

Probably submitters should periodically confirm the validity of the 
template and if not

confirmed go into archive mode.

As I wrote to the dev list last month, a number of PMC members have 
access as moderators. So I think any of us (me included) can remove 
content.


Still, we are wasting our time to help a self-admitted abuser get 
their templates removed since they discovered their voluntary abuse 
will penalize them in search engines.


Wouldn't it make more sense if the account is re-enabled and they 
clean up after themselves? This could speed things up, since I won't 
have time to look into this before version 4.1.3 is released - 
possibly next week, but if they really are in a hurry they might want 
to take care of this themselves as soon as possible. Formbirds, if you 
prefer this option just tell us.

Marcus and other developers,

We get many questions in the user mailing list from people who have 
problems downloading templates.


The fact that developers have no problem doesn't proof that there is no 
issue, please check and solve this problem.

I've no problem to download templates. Please try again. Maybe it was 
a temporary problem that is no solved.

I searched for a  C6 Template for OpenOffice and found

But the page simply tells me “Access Denied” and tells me that I am not 
authorized to access this page.

So I thought I’d register, but the login/registration page tells me that I 
don’t need to to download templates, only if I want to upload templates. It 
specifically says “No registration/logon is needed for downloading templates”.
How do I download a template please.

This is frustrating beyond reason!

There is absolutely NO WAY to download the templates I want. Either I'm am
told that I don't have access http://templates.services.
openoffice.org/en/template/cbrainpower-13-creativ-learning-made (remember,
I am signed in) or I get a page like this: http://templates.
openoffice.org/en/template/scenario-template

Neither on the first page or on the pages that come up is there a download
link or a button that says "Use It." If I try downloading it with a right
mouse click, it tries to save the link as an html file not an Open Office
file type.

Even when using the template manager in Open Office, all I get is the
Website for templates Which STILL has no way to SAVE the files

The question isn't even addressed in the forums. This is INSANE! What is
going on?

Alternatively, you can also download template packages as an extension, e.g.
english-language templates:
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/professional-template-pack-english

That is not the way users search for extensions.

Yes you have informed about two extensions, but the question is who do 
you have informed?
Users are raising questions at the user mailing list, most likely they 
are not subscribed to the dev mailing list.
If the developers are not able to solve the problem then at least direct 
us to whom we (user) can escalate the problem.

A horrible website. Nothing works.

 


I am searching for a standard template (formal letter). I selected "Private"
and "Writer". I got thrown with hundreds of results. Absolutely unusable, no
overview possible. No specific characteristics of all those templates
provided, just names that say nothing but are just phantasy. Add some more
hundreds of such templates with fancy names, the user will not be able to
understand what is offered.

 


Ok. I selected "Sort by ranking" to just get the best four. You know what
happens now? The list now begins with the lowest ranked templates. Ok, click
on "Sort downwards". I got thrown at with by hundreds of presentation
templates. Clicking on the sort criteria just clears the "private" and
"Writer" selection. Ok, so select those again. You know what happens now:
that clears the "Sort" preference. A nice example on how to program a
one-way-street, driving the user crazy. Whatever I do, I do not get what I
want.

 


Ok, just take the first in the list, whatever ranking it has. I click on
"Download template". Nothing happens. I click again, nothing happens. I
click on "Download the linked document", nothing happens. Ok, I select "Copy
link" and want to go directly to the document. You know what: my Firefox is
completely frozen. It is impossible to open a new tab or a new window. I
cannot open the other open tabs in Firefox, the web site does not even open
a new tab in Firefox. This website blocks Firefox completely. Horrible.

 


Please, remove this website and the link in OpenOffice to that site. Just
try to set up a completely new site and a completely new design. Scrap that
shit, it is horrible. Please test your new website with at least ten users
with different operating systems and browsers. If one of those ten users
need more than ten seconds to find the formal letter template and to install
this, scrap the site again and again start from scratch.

Hi,

Marking bugs as duplicate result in losing track of the number of votes?
For example bug 22831 has a couple of bugs marked as duplicate.
If you add the votes for all related bugs you get 13 votes while bug 22831 only 
shows 6 votes.

How can we make sure that bugs get the correct priority?

You only can solve problems by coding if you can replicate the problem
and have identified the cause of the problem.
So the user should first test if he can print envelopes from other applications.
So let him export the file to PDF and see if he is able to print from Acrobat.
Other option is to check if he can print to another printer and he said printing
To his Epson printer worked fine.
My guess is the problem is with the installation of his printer.

The moral is “ Don’t fix what is not broken”
