Yes. Most of the old OOo project specific mailing lists were never moved to the
ASF.

A new target for these links is required.

Maybe searching on the en Forum would help and renew the link.

Is this a separate issue?

This is working. You might need to clear web cache. For some reason it
redirects to wikinew.openoffice.org, but it works.

Re: Reporting a problem with the OpenOffice Wiki and Forums

2022-05-15 Thread Dave Fisher
In the recent updates of the wiki and forums they were put onto the same
virtual machine.

I think the current problem is due to the wiki section in the httpd.conf not
recognizing that the wiki.services.openoffice.org domain coming in to the
server is a wiki request. The forum then gets it.

I’ve submitted a PR to ASF Infra puppet to attempt to fix this issue. It being
Sunday it may take some time before it is merged and after that up to an hour
before puppet applies the change.

Re: Reporting a problem with the OpenOffice Wiki and Forums

2022-05-15 Thread Dick Groskamp
Just found another one on the wiki:

http://www.openoffice.org/qa/ooQAReloaded/DatabaseTeamsite/ooQA-TeamDatabaseLinks.html
points to several links, of which most work correctly.

However, the link to Database Wiki, which is:
wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Database
redirects to
https://forum.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Database

but should redirect to https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Database.

Therefore I think that Matthias is right. There is something going wrong on the
wiki with the redirects from "wiki.services".

Redirections go inadvertently to "forum.openoffice.org"

They should redirect to "wiki.openoffice.org/" but they redirect now to
"forum.openoffice.org" which throws a 404. Changing "forum" on the 404 to
"wiki" will give you the right page.

I have no clue as where to search for the error, but I assume its somewhere in
the configuration of the forum

I understand that these links are in the forum?

We could change all links on our domain, but we definitely cannot change
all the links "out there" in the internet...

And as I wrote, before these links were redirected to the Wiki server.
Now they point to the forum server.

We don't have an Arabic release, so it is not in the drop-down.

But in case you have missed it, the page is now available on GitHub:

I should have figured that out myself. * facepalm *
Yet your explanation begs the question: is there a need for a unified
approach as to the landing page?

English page (us/gb) leads to the AOO blog page.
Language versions - they fall into 4 categories:

1. to the AOO Release Notes
Most of the language versions:
(ast), (da), (de), (es), (fr), (it),
(lt), (hu), (nl), (no), (pl), (sk),
(sl), (sv), (tr), (vi), (ru), (sr),
(he), (hi), (km), (ta), (th), (zh-cn),
(zh-tw), (ja), (ko)

Note: (fr), (it), (el), (ja) - not directly

2. to the AOO blog page
- Catalan --> Català (ca)
- Czech --> Čeština (cs)
- Basque --> Euskara (eu)
- Scottish --> Gàidhlig (gd)
- Galician --> Galego (gl)
- Bulgarian --> български език (bg)

3. to sort of "Get Involved in Apache OpenOffice"
- Portuguese [Brazilian] --> Português [do Brasil]
http://www.openoffice.org/pt-br/participe.html

4. to a faulty page: "404 - Page not Found"
- Finnish --> Suomi (fi)
http://www.apache.org/dev/service_unavailable.html?site=blogs.apache.org=404

Plus of course "Arabic --> العربية (ar)" - present in the HTML code but
not on the list (language drop-down).

We really don't need to wait for a rewrite of the skin to use the new
graphics. They can simply be replaced.

I've taken a look at this, and in general a broader look at the MWiki
status.

We have (or used to have) three types of errors on the MWiki:

1. The skin (theme) is using outdated coding conventions. It is a custom
skin so we must fix it. It's simple PHP, totally within what we can do,
but it requires a bit of time. This in itself is not an issue, but it
will break if we upgrade MWiki.

2. Our version of MWiki is not fully compatible with PHP 7.0. This is
the root cause of the error above. But we can't upgrade before fixing
the theme.

3. The Math extension had issues too, and this was responsible for about
10% of the errors I see in the logs. This is now fixed.

To fix 1 and 2, since we don't have a test server for the MWiki, I'll
have to recreate the environment locally (this is already done) and
schedule a brief maintenance window to put the new code online.
Rewriting the skin will of course mean that we use the new graphics for it.

If someone, especially new people, wants to help, I can give some
indications on porting the skin. Otherwise I'll proceed in the next days.

And why is that? The content of these pages is banal and consists largely of
references to the idl-reference:

I cannot fix this page at the moment, but here are hardcopys of a local copy of

2018-10-04 Thread Howard Cary Morris
I am not sure. I sometimes have a similar problem with Open Office thinking I
am at the beginning of a sentence and capitalizing the first word. Normally an
undo (ctrl+z on my PC) fixes the problem. Sometimes, how you leave the cell
does different things (again on a PC using the arrows instead of the tab key,
maybe using the mouse). Also see
http://www.taming-openoffice-org.com/newsite/?page_id=42 how to change the
number format of a cell.

Hi,

what do you mean with Dark theme?
Do you want to theme the GUI or have a template for your Documents? (and
which Document we are talking about (Spreadsheet, TestDocument,
Presentation?)

While we can answer it here, our focus is development of OpenOffice, not
using it.
Maybe you would like to ask on forum.openoffice.org or in the users
mailing list.

All the best
Peter

RE: Reporting a problem with the OpenOffice Wiki

2015-02-19 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
I think you are not seeing anything about Unicode because ODF is fully Unicode
and so is Apache OpenOffice and it is taken for granted. It came with being
based on XML.

I think you are asking something not about use of Unicode but perhaps having
fonts the support the characters you are interested in, having a helper for
finding and introducing those characters, or perhaps having more symbols in
that particular insertion feature, in the math functions, etc. If it has to do
with Base, that might be a problem with database drivers that are not
controlled by OpenOffice.

Please be more specific and we can narrow this down to something that we can
help clarify with you. Also, let us know what platform/OS you are running
Apache OpenOffice on.

PS: Do not reply to me personally. I do not promise to respond.
Please reply to dev@openoffice.apache.org where appropriate participants can

I know this is the wrong place to send this to - please forward.
I primarily want to know if the newest update will support a useful or
very large subset of unicode characters.
A search for Unicode on your site provides nothing, so I assume you
don't support it.

Each time I come to your site, finding anything more than a lot of
statements about how wonderful you are is difficult.

at least this should be easy:
- go to the download webpage [1]
- click on the link Release Notes inside the green box

For older releases first choose the wanted version and then the Release
Notes link.

OpenOffice is supporting Unicode. So, it depends also from the used
font/character set. Or are you searching for something totally
different? Sorry, then I haven't understood your request. ;-)

This technica information is usually on our wiki, however what you are
asking is a bit too specific. I think you should provide a sample
document with large set of unicode to be able to test it.
AOO uses the IBM developed ICU4C (International Component for
Unicode), more information here: https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/ICU

Looking on our Issue trackers, I couldnt find any issues related with
large sets. So my guess is that you shouldnt have any substantial
issue.

This is the French version of an issue we have been discussing recently.
With some systems/browsers the Wiki signup page is broken and you cannot
register.

If you didn't manage to sign up, please provide your desired username

and other issues in a maintenance window in January.
