RE: HttpCoreNIOListener$1 - System may be unstable: IOReactor encountered a runtime exception : null

2009-04-29 Thread Hubert, Eric
Hi all,

I guess this boils down to how we deal with broken, partial, and even
possibly malicious requests in the NIO transport.. I will fix the issue
pointed to by Andreas and Murali ASAP as I consider this critical.

I agree with you Asankha. Although we have different root causes for
RuntimeExceptions during request handling, the final result is currently the
same for all those cases.

Yes, we return true since the later versions of HttpCore dump some
information and try to continue in the face of RT exceptions. What I
feel is that we need to enhance the NIO transport to be stable in the
face of broken, partial and malicious requests so that RT exceptions
will not be thrown in such cases, and we will drop the connection with a
 WARN
Yes, this for sure. If something slips through we hope that the HttpCore is
able to continue without problems? Are there known situations for this?

Regards,
  Eric

Retrieving policies from the WSDL for WSDL Endpints

2009-04-29 Thread Supun Kamburugamuva
Hi all,
In WSDL endpoints Synapse doesn't load the security policies and RM policies
from the WSDL. At the moment we have to specify these
policies separately, even if the policies are specified in the WSDL. It will
be better if Synapse loads these policies from the WSDL itself. I would like
to improve and contribute this to Synapse. Before going ahead I would really
like to get all your ideas and concerns.

Thanks,
Supun..

+1 sounds like a useful improvement. I think it would be good to still
allow the /option/ of having a separate policy file override the
WSDL-Policy.

Sounds good, could you raise a JIRA for this too? BTW, I believe this
would not require many changes across the codebase, but if it does, I
would like everyone to collectively decide if it should go for 1.3 or
could wait for later - depending on the changes and the complexity

 Hi All

Eric has been supporting Synapse for a very long time now, and has been
contributing by testing, documentation and most recently bug fixes and
enhancements / new feature implementations as well. I can confidently say
that the Synapse NIO transport is at a current stable state today because of
many efforts by Eric in notifying them, and following them to completion
sometimes publicly and sometimes off the lists.

I think its a great time to invite him to be a committer of Apache Synapse
 in-time for the 1.3 release.

Here is my +1 to make him  a committer
