2012-03-23 Thread Shammi Jayasinghe
Hi ,

The guava version in cassandra feature is updated with the revision r123684.
Since it takes more time to build from the beginning (Orbit),
I am triggering a build of platform plan since we are trying to give packs
to QA today.

Thanks

Re: [Dev] Tomcat patch

2012-03-23 Thread Muhammed Shariq
Hi,

Finally managed to get this patch incorporated in to the platform with the
help of Sameera. To do this we had to introduce two bundles
org.wso2.carbon.tomcat.patch (to patch the RequestInfo.java class of
tomcat) org.wso2.carbon.tomcat.fragment.dummy.

Let me explain why we need a dummy bundle here. The solution proposed was
to require our patch from tomcat bundle. But the tomcat orbit bundles
resides out of the kernel and hence its kinda hacky to require a bundle
that it doesn't know of. So we introduced the dummy bundle and made it a
fragment of the tomcat orbit bundle of bundle and also require the tomcat
patch. At runtime the dummy bundle will get attached to the tomcat orbit
bundle and in-turn require the patch. So the osgi runtime will pick the
RequestInfo class of our patched bundle! Many thanks to out osgi mastermind
for coming up with this solution ;)

I have implemented this and will be committing the changes to trunk after a
final round of testing and code cleanup.

We can convert the Tomcat.patch jar to a bundle and from the Tomcat

 Hi,

I had a look in to this and it seems we don't have the patch in trunk.
Basically what we did in the previous release is to override
the RequestInfo.java class coming from tomcat by create a jar
called org.wso2.carbon.tomcat.patch which includes only the
patched RequestInfo.java class, and placing it in the lib/patches dir (this
is pre tomcat ofgification era!). Since we are not maintaining tomcat
source, I guess we need to do something similar this time too.

I'll have a chat with Sameera and sort this out.

Re: [Dev] [Carbon-commits] [Carbon-platform] svn commit r123090 - in carbon/platform/trunk/features/stratos: . sso-mgt sso-mgt/org.wso2.stratos.identity.saml2.sso.mgt.feature sso-mgt/org.wso2.stratos.

2012-03-23 Thread Thilina Buddhika
Hi Manjula,

After moving this feature out of IS product into features, I can see you
have put an entry in bin.xml file of Identity Service to copy
sso-idp-config.xml file from the feature-installed Carbon server created
inside the p2-profile-gen target.

file

source../../p2-profile-gen/service/target/wso2carbon-core-${wso2carbon.version}/repository/conf/sso-idp-config.xml/source

outputDirectory${pom.artifactId}-${pom.version}/repository/conf//outputDirectory
fileMode644/fileMode
/file

In order this to happen, you need to pack this file with the feature and
copy it to the installed directory by adding necessary config to the p2.inf
file inside the feature. But I do not see this configuration or this config
file inside the feature.

Because of this, Identity Service distribution build is failing. Please see
the log at
http://builder4.us1.wso2.org:/bamboo/browse/WSO2CARBON-IS-JOB1-8/log.

Thanks,
Thilina

Re: [Dev] Ground works for Admin Service porting - Ability to deploy a bundle as a JAX-WS service.

Hi Sagara,

Axis2 JAX-WS is totally busted on Carbon 4.0.0. It was working for Carbon
3.2.0 and UDDI stuff in G-Reg was using that. Have you been able to get
OSGi bundles containing JAX-WS services to work with this fix? If so, we
can test this on G-Reg. Isuru, please note.

 samples for this.

Architecture wise it is required to present JAXWSServiceType header
on the bundle if it contains JAX-WS annotated classes and wish to
deploy it as a Axis2 JAX-WS service on Carbon.

 e.g - JAXWSServiceTypejaxws-axis2/JAXWSServiceType

Re: [Dev] Merging of products services?

2012-03-23 Thread Senaka Fernando
Hi Shariq,

I don't think we can easily do it, so before physically starting the work
we need to have a proper understanding of all related issues from all
products and ensure that the solution will address those, if not, its going
to introduce a huge instability. So, if we are do this for the upcoming
release, we need an immediate plan or its best done for the next.

Thanks,
Senaka.

On Fri, Mar 23, 2012 at 10:43 AM, Muhammed Shariq sha...@wso2.com wrote:

 Hi,

Well I also did a quick comparison of the Appserver product and service,
plugins dir and noticed that there some jar only used in the product pack
and vise-versa. In another thread we agreed that we could accept the final
product distro growing about 5 MB, due the service specific jars
(throttling, sso etc.). However I am not quite sure why there are some jars
only used in the product (see attached diff file), I was under the
 impression that;
service = product + stratos features.

Apart from the bundles, there is also config files as Senaka mentioned
that needs to be handled. So I think we need to define a strategy on we are
going to merge the 2 distros. I agree that that its not going to be
straight forward, but it is going to be very helpful. Since the platform
and products are only getting more and more complex, I feel the sooner we
start working on merging the two, the better. Thoughts?

On Thu, Mar 22, 2012 at 10:49 PM, Senaka Fernando sen...@wso2.com wrote:

 Hi Azeez,

I had a look. Merging the some Services and Products is going to be
challenging. For example, let's take Governance. The service has several
things that is not required in the product. To start with there are two
registry.xml files. Also, there are multiple features in the Service
P2-profile that should not be available with the product. Ex:- throttling
agent, metering, SSO bundles etc. Unless we sort out how to scrap these
when building the product, this is not going to easily work. The same is
also applicable to the product, where there are some client libraries that
is not part of the service.

Also, what I don't like is to introduce hacks to check whether it is
product-mode or service-mode and do selective branching, which duplicates
and makes code really ugly and unorganized. So, unless we find a better way
to sort issues like these out, its best kept separate right now.

I also do accept the fact that this might not be the case for some other
 products.

 Thanks,
 Senaka.

Hi all,

we discussed this sometime back. The proper way to do this would be to use
p2-profiles. For an example, Our product distribution will have two

The product profile will have the bundles that are only needed for
standalone product functionality. Both product and service profiles will
share the same set of bundle repository (/plugins).

Re: [Dev] Ground works for Admin Service porting - Ability to deploy a bundle as a JAX-WS service.

2012-03-23 Thread Sagara Gunathunga
Hi Senaka,

I don't think my scenario is not same as your one because this is a
completely new feature introduced to Axis2ServiceRegistry to deploy
bundles as Axis2 JAX-WS services, at the moment Axis2ServiceRegistry
can only handle native Axis2 services. If your scenario worked with
Carbon 3.2.0 then it should relate to some other top level component.

Thanks !

But as you can see, product teams are not taking the responsibility of
maintaining the profiles of the respective Stratos Services. Unless someone

aware whether their Service starts up. Also, you can see that there are
inconsistencies in the bundles between the Product Service. So, even if
we have two P2 profiles, it will not solve the problem of product teams
testing their Services. To be fair to the product teams, it is not easy to
test the Stratos Services because you need to setup MySQL, IS, Manager etc.
before you can run your Service. We need to address that problem. For
example, Stratos AS should be just as easy to startup as the Carbon AS.

Re: [Dev] Ground works for Admin Service porting - Ability to deploy a bundle as a JAX-WS service.

2012-03-23 Thread Senaka Fernando
Hi Sagara,

Hold on. In 3.2.0 JAX-WS works on Axis2. So, are you working on something
similar from ground up? If so, you should definitely take a look at the
existing implementation, instead of inventing two separate ways of doing
the same thing. If this is going reside in Axis2 code, then the Carbon's
version should be deprecated and the Axis2's version should be given
precedence.

Thanks,
Senaka.

Hi Senaka,

Can you make sure that carbon.home system property is set when the code
in BaseTestCase comes to initialize the cache (before line 48)? I faced
somewhat similar issue. In my case, the reason for Unable to initialize
the cache manager is that the path to carbon.home haven't been set.
Sameera suggested that we should shouldn't run tests if the carbon.home
sys-prop is null.

Hi,

I committed a change to both distribution and core. The svn up has happened
after the kernel build.

These type of problems should go away when we depend on carbon kernel as a
distribution.

thanks,

phase. It get called but only when the server shutdown not at the service
deletion/undeploy. I suspect ghost services feature has something to do
with this.
Will have a look.

We can ship tenant creation UI as a default option for ST. There is a

 Hi,

Although you can start a Stratos Foo without Stratos Manager and IS, there

 Hi all,

Alright. So, if this is possible, can't we just get the Stratos Foo to
run against all integration tests of Foo. If we can do that, we can
validate most of the use-cases, and still maintain two P2 profiles. WDYT?

 Thanks,

But as you can see, product teams are not taking the responsibility of
maintaining the profiles of the respective Stratos Services. Unless someone
in the Stratos team looks at the product, the product team is not even
aware whether their Service starts up.

On Fri, Mar 23, 2012 at 1:41 PM, Pradeep Fernando prad...@wso2.comwrote:

 Hi all,

we discussed this sometime back. The proper way to do this would be to
use p2-profiles. For an example, Our product distribution will have two
p2-profiles. One for standalnoe product and, one for service.

The product profile will have the bundles that are only needed for
standalone product functionality. Both product and service profiles will
share the same set of bundle repository (/plugins).

We assigned chethiya for this work.
