Re: [Dev] Error building jaggary dependency

2012-07-07 Thread Tharindu Mathew
That's not right... Why did we move all the jaggery stuff to
dependencies? Earlier, it was done the right way, iirc, i.e. components
stuff residing in components.

If you want things coming out of a maven repo, you can deploy the jars, and
remove it from the build, like we do for hive, cassandra, etc. This is a
violation of the natural structure of the carbon build.

[Dev] Seeing a jasper report through a gadget

2012-07-07 Thread Tharindu Mathew
Hi Tishan/ Sachini,

Can we try to create a report out of ireporting, then write a gadget
manually referring the output html? We can use the source=url approach
described at [1]. Then, we can just add this gadget.xml to the dashboard
portal.

Shall we try this and see? This should just work unless something
unexpected happens.

Re: [Dev] Error building jaggary dependency

2012-07-07 Thread Nuwan Bandara
Hi Tharindu,

Please refer to the mail *Jaggery is a self contained product which sits
in platform/dependencies* which discusses the move. Right now if there is
a change in webapp mgt component that effects jaggery, until the webapp
snapshot deployed to the maven repo, the jaggery build will break.

It is after few meetings we came-up with this solution It is not ideal, for
the case of SNAPSHOT however, once we do this release jaggery can always
depend on a released version of carbon components, in that way this matter
can be mitigated.

If you can think of a better way please do propose.

Re: [Dev] Error building jaggary dependency

2012-07-07 Thread Tharindu Mathew
That mail thread does not discuss this problem at all, i.e. of a dependency
level project referring to a component level as a dependency. And this mail
thread shows jaggery is NOT self contained, so the subject itself is
misleading.

This move should have been done after jaggery is released. Now, whenever
there are changes down the line, the build breaks due to jaggery.

Anyway, even in the future, won't carbon components depend on the SNAPSHOT
version of jaggery? Otherwise, if it depends on a released version, it will
be pulling old versions of components such as web app mgt, and thus ending
up with two versions of web app mgt (SNAPSHOT and a released version) that
can cause osgi constraints and linkage issues.

It is after few meetings we came-up with this solution It is not ideal,
for the case of SNAPSHOT however, once we do this release jaggery can
always depend on a released version of carbon components, in that way this
 matter can be mitigated.

If you can think of a better way please do propose.

Yes, I can see this component (webapp) dependency
in dependency/jaggery/pom.xml. We should not use a component in dependency
 level.

If this is by design, when we build in order without building from
the platform level, almost always the build will break for engineers who
doesn't expect this kind of dependency.

Yes I think, that approach will work, so that means we can put an external
to jaggery/components to platform/components and jaggery/features to
platform/features from github.

Will try this. thanks :)

That mail thread does not discuss this problem at all, i.e. of a
dependency level project referring to a component level as a dependency.
And this mail thread shows jaggery is NOT self contained, so the subject
 itself is misleading.

This move should have been done after jaggery is released. Now, whenever
there are changes down the line, the build breaks due to jaggery.

Anyway, even in the future, won't carbon components depend on the
SNAPSHOT version of jaggery? Otherwise, if it depends on a released
version, it will be pulling old versions of components such as web app mgt,
and thus ending up with two versions of web app mgt (SNAPSHOT and a
released version) that can cause osgi constraints and linkage issues.

It doesn't have such hard-coded value, as I see. Anyway, the component
doesn't belong for the products, and it has its own feature which is
 included for manager only.

This is introduced into stratos common feature in the commit 127941. I
don't think it is needed, as manager (and only manager) anyway has this
captcha-mgt feature. I have removed this in commit 131487. Ramith, pls
correct me, if CSG or any products will require this feature. In that case,
we can use captcha-mgt feature there, like we do in Manager.

Now, since this component is removed, this error should not appear in
products. Is this error happening in Manager too? I will build and confirm.

 Yes!

You can reproduce if you set up a carbon-server cluster, in multicast mode
and making one server as a group manager (master).

Then after slave joins the master, shutdown the slave. You could notice the
incorrect ports (without offset) in the master's log related to the leave
of the slave.

INFO - DefaultGroupManagementAgent Application member Host:10.100.3.105,
Port: 4001, HTTP:8285, HTTPS:8243, ACTIVE:true left cluster.

Re: [Dev] AS directory based webapp deployment broken

Hi Reka,

looks like changes in r131754 causing this. You can't always assume that
webapp is a war. So substring to the last index of '.war' gives this error
when a directory based webapp is deployed. Also same error occurs in webapp
unloading as well. Please fix this accordingly.

We should remove this component soon, we have the new ndatasource
component, and the UI is also finished as I know . So we should just move
 to that.

Okay. If we're going to deprecate the use of the data-sources
component, I believe, we might want to formally inform all the product
teams who are using that component to migrate to ndatasources as part of
the release effort. Then everybody can focus on testing and other release
related activities (in which datasources are involved) using the new
 implementation.

+1, I was actually waiting for the UI to be completed for products which
uses the UI to manage data sources. Products like BPS was already informed
to move into the new component, where they don't use the UI but uses the
 configuration file.

I moved to the new component, server starts without a problem, but I see
so many exceptions while running the integration tests. I like to sit with
you have a closer look at these issues. The tests get successfully run when
I move back to the old datasource component. Unless we sort out these
issues, we cannot move to the new component.

 Hi Tishan/ Sachini,

Can we try to create a report out of ireporting, then write a gadget
manually referring the output html? We can use the source=url approach
described at [1]. Then, we can just add this gadget.xml to the dashboard
 portal.

Shall we try this and see? This should just work unless something
 unexpected happens.

Will look into this and update you.

Re: [Dev] [Commits] [Carbon-platform] svn commit r132076 - carbon/platform/trunk/components/registry/org.wso2.carbon.registry.reporting/src/main/java/org/wso2/carbon/registry/reporting/services

2012-07-07 Thread Senaka Fernando
Hi Ajith,

No schedule saved nothing for a specific reason. It is actually possible to
create a report initially with a minimum set of values and then provide the
advanced settings when you actually schedule or generate the report (ex:-
resourcePath, loaded attributes). Thereby you could have a single report
configuration and then use that to produce multiple reports (ex:- a report
for each service or consumer). Now with this commit, everytime you schedule
a report, all what you entered gets saved and that makes that whole process
inconsistent. However, I feel that your expectation is to be able to add
everything required when you originally create the report configuration. If
that's the case, can't we fix the Add Report UI instead of this?

Thanks,
Senaka.

On Sat, Jul 7, 2012 at 11:46 AM, Senaka Fernando sen...@wso2.com wrote:

 Hi Ajith,

I think this commit needs to be reverted.

When editing an existing report configuration, the changes should get
persisted into the registry. But, the same is not the case when you
schedule. For example, you can leave some optional fields blank and create
a report but fill them in when scheduling. This would allow two people to
schedule two reports having the same basic configuration, with some
additional user-specific configuration. If the reporter of this issue
expected that scheduling a report should also persist configuration, he/she
 is mistaken.

 Hi Senaka

Thanks for the review. However, this is not a blind commit. :)
When we create a report input value is Report Name , Template ,
 Report Type,Report Class.
But, you have created additional properties (cronExpresssion ,
resourcePath ) with empty values at first phase. (see TestReport.png).

Those additional properties should be filled at report schedule phase
 (schedule.png
all the input values are required *), therefore property persistent
 should be at schedule phase.

 Thanks
 Ajith

 Thanks,
 Senaka.

The build is failing, because we have commented out the dependencies from
the root pom. I assume that dependencies are commented out in-order to use
maven deploy command. In that case we may have to introduce a separate
bamboo build plan for platform dependencies.

[Dev] nTask component is not working properly

2012-07-07 Thread Sinthuja Ragendran
Hi all,

I noticed the subject in the BAM2 pack when scheduling the Hive Scripts.
When debugging I noticed the task is successfully given to the nTask
component, but the scheduled task is not executing as indicated in the cron
expression. And also no exceptions are thrown. Screen shot attached. This
was working well in the BAM2 M5 pack.

As per offline discussion with PrabathA, he mentioned that there is an
issue with the nTask component. We need to fix this asap, since it's L1
issue for BAM2.

Anjana/PrabathA can you please look into this issue please.

Thanks,
Sinthuja.

Shall we try this and see? This should just work unless something
 unexpected happens.

Sure, will do.

Will look into this and update you.
